  1. Gran Turismo Sport now allow users to import SVG files for the in-game livery editor. The only thing is, the SVG file has to be below 15Kb in memory, which is pretty tiny. It's a nice challenge though, to chop away as much unneeded information as possible, but to still get a good quality image. I created this vector file using Affinity Designer, which I then exported as the SVG file. I then used the livery editor to give my bog standard go-kart a new design. The Gran Turismo screenshots are in game. I'm just showing them to illustrate how the decal design looks on the go-kart!
  2. Hey all, New around here, owned AD for around three weeks, new to professional vector design. So far, it's been great, but now I've hit an issue and can't think how to solve it. I'm drawing a flat vector design of a bird, where the body goes from black to grey and the head goes from black to white. The body is one union of shapes and the head is another. I need the two gradients to merge, so that there's no obvious divide on the bird's "neck" where the shapes have their shared edge. I.e., the two gradients should seamlessly merge, and appear to form from the same black area, but then be able to diverge, so the body is grey and the head is white. Any advice appreciated. ilmiont (edit - added a very simplistic example of the problem, I need to get the two objects to merge convincingly)
  3. Hi guys, here is a flyer made with affinity designer. Fully scaleable. Do you have any recommendation for improvement or further work? FIrst pic: file exported jpeg from designer Second pic: printed flyers Greetings, Glembo
  4. Done a t-shirt design for a client just white on a black shirt - just decided to have a mess around adding colour using the Frankentoon brushes - They're mainly the Frankentoon nomad brushes which I purchased as soon as I had a quick play around with the brushes that came with the Designer 1.6 free promo
  5. Hey! I've been using Affinity Designer for a while now and one the thing that bugs me the most is that the Brush Panel can't be expanded in order to show more brushes at a time in a grid orientation. I don't think the Affinity suite should follow Adobe in every step, but not being able to expand panels so that they show us more options at a time (like so) is a big problem. It becomes hard to have a proper brush palette at my disposal and hard to manage brushes and organise them. Is this on your future plans? Is this a known issue? Thanks
  6. Hi, I'm very very very very very happy about all the Affinity softwares! The only thing in designer I really feel missing is an autotracer feature. I'd like to import my sketch directly from paper scan! Please, please, add it in your roadmap The workaround i use now is a site (http://www.autotracer.org/ - remove the link if i'm violating any forum rule) that allows me to convert rasters to vectors. BTW thanks anyway for your hard work and keep it up! Alessandro
  7. so as a GM of the night club i work for I also head up our bottle service program the season has been very busy for me but i finally got some time to work on some sample coverpages for my bottle service menu. my owner was adamant about 2 things. 1 make sure its something the other bars are not doing, and two make each color of the rainbow a page in the menu. 9 pages all together i didn't bother posting the others,. frankly as a sales person I'm not a fan of multiple pages. I already have a 1 page version for my sanity lol. but he signs the checks so TAAAADAAAA! lol aaaand if any of you come visits The Silicon Valley, y'all know where to find me. stop by and say hi. update. added my generic flyer for advertisement and a promotional flyer for a vodka we are offering
  8. I had the idea for this rolling around in the back of my head for a while so I thought I'd give it a try and see what came from it. I've now got it to the point where I'm not very happy with it. I've added some shadows where some of the pieces of paper aren't fully stuck down - with a related curve - but it still doesn't quite look real enough to me. There's something missing but I don't know what. I tried to add highlights to the "curls" but they didn't look right. Each letter is an individual shape with enclosed image and text layers, and the shadows are themselves individual layers, so it's all totally adjustable. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements? It's just a silly thing that I've made for my own amusement but I would like to get it looking better. Any ideas anyone? Feel free to get petty.
  9. I'm doing a lot of work with Mobile UI/UX Design and i'm trying to find alternative ways of doing the mirror display/phone preview similar to Adobe XD. I love using affinity designer, but I can't seem to find anyway of reflecting what i've created on an artboard to a real time display on my phone? Any suggestions?
  10. Hello Every one! I am new here and I am planning to buy an iPad pro 12.9. And I have questions for you about Affinty designer for iPad pro: Is it a full version? Can I make some official Curses for it or Affinty photo by using iPad pro 12.9? Thank you so much, Ghaeth
  11. Just wanted to share my version of a Vincent Van Gogh sketch of Sien Hoornik titled "Sorrow". I saw this sketch somewhere and I thought that I should make a coloured version of it. It is a rather simple sketch but it was very difficult to get it looking just right, especially the colours. I redrew this numerous times trying to get it to look a certain way and this is the one that I settled on (although it isn't quite as I had pictured it in my mind but it is close). The hair was the worst part and it still isn't quite to my liking but it is going to have to do as I got tired of it and decided to move on to something else. I hope that you enjoy. Thanks, Hokusai
  12. I want this technology on Affinity Designer. Please. That´s could be awesome. Check this out Serif and Affinity Designer development team. Please. https://astutegraphics.com/tech/application-chassis-technical-features/ This technology that Astute Graphics is offering could greatly improve Affinty Designer. Please Serif and Affinity Designer development team, take a look at it and take it into consideration. Astute Graphics create amazing vector design tools, currently only as plugins for Adobe Illustrator. Just Analyze the Astute Graphics offer. Please.
  13. From looking around it sounds like once you buy Affinity Designer you can install it on as many computers as you wish, just you can only use it on a single computer at a time. This is great because I have multiple computers that I work on. Where there might be a problem is I work both on Windows and on Mac. So Ideally an license would also be cross-platform. From what I can tell though this is not the case, I would have to buy a license for Windows and a separate license for Mac. Is this correct?
  14. Hello, When I open a PDF file in Affinity designer everything looking correct (vector objects) but all the images are looking pixellated or very low resolution. Images looking very good in my PDF viewer (foxit) it there is any option that I can select so I get good quality images also while opening PDF file I choose DPI as 400 but I got same result.
  15. I'm trying to export a mockup for a site to the dev with all the fonts / styling & spacing intact to PSD since the dev doesn't use Affinity. Been trying various ways to export it and still yields no results - pretty frustrated. Please help, thanks.
  16. Hi, It will be a bit long, since I have to touch other, very closely related issues as well. Rhino to Affinity Designer: So I'm a bit lost, at first a seemingly easy excercise: how do I get linework from Rhino/RhinoWIP to Affinity Designer without using a 3rd software? The exported .ai/.eps files won't be read, and .dwg is still out of league. Relevant McNeel Discourse threads: https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/what-export-option-to-use-to-get-rhino-into-affinity-designer/38872/6 https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/exporting-in-eps-ai-format/37015/8 https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/reading-exported-ai-files-in-vector-editors-other-than-illustrator/18092 I've tried the vector PDF as described, but it is extremely messy, not usable. I have no idea, why the curves are joined into one curve: I have to explode them, then I tried joining them like described here, but no success, they remain detached. Here are my questions: Can we expect extended .ai or .eps compatibility, or even better, support for .dwg files? In the meantime, what do you suggest to send linework from Rhino to Designer? Two very closely related topics: 1. DWG/DXF exchange between CAD software and Affinity Designer This is a thread asking for DWG/DXF support, which if I recall, did not happen since then: Please consider increasing attention on this matter, as the latest official reply was from @MEB, over 2,5 years ago. This is a very important feature for many designers (myself is an architect), since most of the time our drawings are not generated in Designer/Illustrator. There are flexible 2D editing and publishing tools (e.g. ARCHICAD), that handle technical drawings quite nice, but not textured drawings, so a more tailored, flexible tool is in dire need. But the (seemingly) lack of interest from the development side is a bit saddening, since involving another tool in the workflow leaves Designer on the shelf - which is pity, since Photo is wonderfully replacing Photoshop. 2. Select same... functionality Other software generated PDFs from e.g. ARCHICAD are better structured, but one needs a lot of time to prepare them for exporting - I'm saying this workflow issue has two sides, but the lack of select same... features are also hurting a lot. (Also, ARCHICAD cannot produce .ai or .eps files, so the common denominator is DWG.) Thread here: This is almost a 3,5 years old request. To summarize: I recognize this is a long standing issue at McNeel as well, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate a usable, decent workflow involving Rhino and Designer. (I've read over there at Discourse, that someone asked older .ai support already in the Windows beta threads, but couldn't find anything related.) But from your side, adding support for generic formats, namely DWG/DXF, with layers, and functionality that helps converting technical drawings (Select same) to Affinity Designer files is a must in the long run. I can only speak from my side of course, but the increasing activity in the above linked threads might suggest, that these are features that would be very welcome. Here is a small testing pack, a .3dm (Rhino) that should originate something, that I can create a usable .afdesign file from. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nytg3owlf2rf8eh/AABtbW1dxAkhonOaRwPRI5pVa?dl=0 Thank you!
  17. Just another drawing similar to the Don Quixote drawing that I posted recently but it is much simpler. This is a drawing that I had done probably not long after Designer was released and I forgot that I'd done it. I used this picture as my first real project to get myself used to using Designer. I am a big fan of Albrecht Dürer and I hope that you enjoy it. I've included the outlines as well. Hokusai
  18. Hello everyone ^-^ I've been using Affinity Photo since it first came out on the iPad Pro and now own both Photo and Designer on the Mac and loving them <3 I've started to play around with different styles for some buildings I've been working on for a game. What do you think? Thank you for your time and I hope you have a great day.
  19. I've been posting on the forum here since Designer was released in 2014 but I've never posted anything of my own in the "Share your work". I'm always impressed by what others post and it inspired me to post something of my own. I chose this picture because it was so complex and it was overwhelming the amount of objects that I had to draw but I used it as a test to see how far Designer has come and I have to say that it has come a long ways since it was first released. Designer never quit or locked up on me and it performed beyond my expectations, especially on a project with so many boolean operations. I took an image that was done originally by the amazingly talented Gustave Doré and redid it completely in vectors using Designer. I did everything "by hand" as they say, I didn't use any kind of vectorizer as I feel that the results are never good enough. I also did the whole thing with a mouse, no Wacom. Somethings had to be created from scratch as the original was damaged in places so there are actually many differences between my version and the original but I think I've been able to maintain the spirit of the original. I've included some screenshots of the outlines to give you an idea of how many different objects there are. I'd like to give a giant "Thanks!" to MattP and the other developers for all their hard work. I'm especially thankful to them for adding a "Hide/Show All" command into Designer. It helped me greatly with this picture and I look forward to seeing what they will think of next. Thanks for letting me share. Hokusai
  20. Hello, I created 25 types to fill objects. Designia Styles.afstyles
  21. Hi, I don't know if it's possible to achieve this but, imagine you work with different people and you share a .ai file, or somebody wants a .ai file of your work. Then it would be great to have a .ai export option. Thanks! *update: Sorry, topic already excist, you can delete this
  22. Hi Everyone, Made the jump today to buy affinity photo and designer. Whilst I am loving it all, my huion 1060 plus tablet will not work in either program? I have tried it in other programs and it works fine, I have tried different settings, even uninstalling the tablet driver and re-installing it but only affinity photo and designer refuse to allow it to work. Can anyone help me, I really am lost and need to use my tablet with my work on these programs. Thanks in advance! Billie
