  1. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but looking through tutorials didn't produce an answer to my question. I've been trying to figure out how to use the adjustment layers in affinity designer with no luck. So for example, if I select 'Brightness and Contrast' a mask layer appears, but no tools appear to make any kind of adjustment. What am I doing wrong? Example file attached. adjustments.afdesign
  2. Practicing with @Frankentoon's comic book brushes and color and gradient swatches, so decided to start with something simple. Funny how when you try something you realize how much more you have to learn about it. Gotta work on those line weights...
  3. Xmas FB Cover

Those who have a FB account may want to place something Xmas related there as a FB cover. Well with AD/AP you have endless possibilities here to make some cover images, be it out of vector and/or bitmap drawings, photos etc. - Usually I tend more to use some of my Winter time shots here for such things ... ... though of course it don't have to be always photos. So here is a quick made AD Xmas example ... Though you can add some style fills (below), or even better some vector or bitmap snowflakes, stars, etc... or whatever you like here ... BTW I used the following vector drawn christmas motive for the cover image shown above ... ... the font used for the motive is Great Vibes, but you can apply whatever you like here. Here are the corresponding AD files: xmas_fb_cover.afdesign xmas_round.afdesign Have a nice time!
  5. I just downloaded the iOS 11 UI Kit expecting to use the new iPhone X bars to generate app mockups, however when I drag the assets into my iPhone X artboard generated from "new from template" it's not already the width of the artboard. How does this make any sense at all. Auto scaling the font's and other sub layers doesn't work intuitively and at this point I'm struggling to find a reason to stick with Affinity Designer for UI/UX design for mobile.

  7. Here is a set of vector snowflakes for use in affinity designer. A tad late I know but maybe they could still be useful. enjoy! snowflakes.afdesign
  8. Here is a Affinity christmas photo storyboard template you can reuse or modify for your own needs ... ... in it's actual state this is setup for placing 2 photos inside. You can place your photos easily as child layers into the indicated left and right sides as shown here ... ... and here is the storyboard: christmas_photo_storyboard.afdesign Have a nice christmas time!
  9. Zenquarium is a happy iOS pet/aquarium game, with all game art made in Affinity Designer. Affinity Designer is hands down the best graphic program I've ever used. I've dabbled with a lot of programs since I was young, but am mainly a programmer. Having a tool as thoughtfully designed as Affinity Designer turned what could have been a very painful process into one I absolutely loved. (Our app store link if you're curious: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1238993898) Some plants and characters... A screenshot of everything together. Icons also done in Designer!
  10. Sometimes when adjusting vector curves a few of the nodes only have one handle when selected. (Not talking about the handles on adjacent nodes.) My guess is because these are "sharp" nodes. Is there a way to drag out the second handle without hitting the node mode buttons for smooth/smart? That's the only solution I know of, but it often changes the curve a great deal, too.
  11. Hello, I have just bought affinity designer but come from a background of using adobe illustrator. I would like to smooth lines on a handrawn (ipad pro apple pencil) imported pdf - using apple draw to create vectors on ipad and transfer files as a pdf in creative cloud to maintain layers whilst awaiting affinity designer for ipad pro - The imported pdf vector drawing has many anchor points as you would expect. In adobe illustrator I could use the smooth tool to quickly remove number of anchor points whilst maintaing a handdrawn quality. 1) is this possible in affinity designer? If so what is the tool called and where could I find it 2) Also I would use the path simplify from drop down menu in adobe illustrator to smooth and reduce anchor points - is there something similar in affinity designer. I am working through the tutorials but these are some of my first issues I have come across. 3) Would also appreciate if there is a list of all the available tools so I don't need to keep asking in the forum Thank you affinity - really enjoying using designer

  13. Hey, This might sound so imature but there are actually digners that redesign textures in minecraft. I regular use photoshop to create these designs but now i found this tool for only 60 bucks permanent and thaught if this is a good replacedment. I need to know which program i should rather use when im only designing with my mouse on rasters in pixels (16x16, 32x32, 64x64 ....). Siaro~
  14. I am not a developer, so I am seeking to understand some topics from the Affinity Designer team thinking that I am more likely to get a response from them than anyone at Apple. A few questions: Does Apple provide you, the developers, with the tools & documentation to be able to create .molo graphic files from your application? What is it that allows me to copy a vector element from Designer & paste it into a slide in Keynote, but prevents me from pasting onto the canvas in Motion? Is there any specific feedback that I, as a user of both Motion & Designer, can submit to Apple that would help the Affinity team get what they need to do more to support & integrate with Motion? Thanks for your time & explanations!
  15. Hello Everyone. This is our first entry here. I'm exploring the Affinity Designer about 3 months ago and I'm so excited to show you our progres. The illustration are made for fun in my free time. Here is the making video of Harley Quin : Hope you'll like them.
  16. Hi Often times we have to deal with bad vectors where there are many nodes stacked on top of each other, it would nice if we could just select all the nodes and "merge" them into a single node. Does this feature already exists? Thank you
  17. 18. Here's a space related infographic I've been working on. It was all built in Designer.
  19. Well, I made this Invitation for a Kids Party in a bit of a rush in Dsigner. so here is the Template of it. The party is Superman themed, as you can see, and it's the first time I make something like this. It's supposed to be send via WhatsApp so it was only meant to be a digital image. What do you think? Best regards!
  20. Hi, I recently bought affinity photo and designer and I absolutly love those apps. My mother is recently on the verge of completing her first book from a series that will be published. During my work on her book we noticed that it would be really helpful if there where preset document sizes of the most common print sizes for example 8,5inch x 5,5inch is a common create space book size and also the book size my mother went for. Also what would be helpful is to implement industry standard margins and bleeds for those templates so all a user would have to do is open a preset and would have a print ready format with bleed and margins all correct in place. There are much more of common book sizes and there missing as presets, so please add them in the next update. sencirily David
  21. Just started learning Affinity Designer. Here is my first Design. Plan to add Gradients and some texture next.
  22. Time approaches quickly so here are some Xmas texture styles in case anybody has a need for such things (and as always you may freely use those styles to your likes): Personally I sometimes use such textures for backgrounds on greeting cards and stuff like that here ... Here are the compressed AD style files: xmas1.afstyles.zip xmas2.afstyles.zip Have a nice Xmas time!
  23. Hi, How can you use Affinity Photo or Designer to make responsive images? If you have hero or jumbotron my guess is you need to make an image of a different size for all screen sizes using the same image. But what is workflow in Affinity Photo or Designer? Also how can PSD files play a role in all of this?
  24. In this short tutorial I'll will show you how to create an Affinity Designer template with nested symbols to draw snowflakes, ice crystals and other interesting things in all Affinity products. The content of this tutorial isn't new but I think at this time of year a nice idea to draw some nice snowflakes, ice crystals, stars... Have fun to draw your own... and keep on drawin' Norbert
  25. I have a few question for those Designer artists who have to deal with prepress and printshops. How do you prepare your artfiles in order to minimize problems with the printshop? I ask because with Affinity Designer I don't see any possibility to preview color separations and I especially miss spot color separations? What workflow do you use or recommend assuming that we don't use any Adobe or other expensive third party software for this purpose?
