  1. Hello Affinity fans Today I drawn flamingos, interesting long-legged birds. I have made not use of textures, patterns, pixel layers or brushes, I just wanted a very simple illustration, just shapes, pen and gradients. Give a look at the illustration, drawn in Affinity Designer and tell me what do you think, leave your feed backs, write positive and negative The full project here on behance
  2. About 4-hours-work, I think this is the best vector product pic I have ever draw.
  3. Hello, Thanks to the team for this great tool that is Affinity designer ! This feature ( request ? ) could somehow be understood as the equivalent of brushes in Affnity Photo... The triangle tool and others ( Trapezoïd / Diamond etc...) are neat and really practical ! is there a possibility ( or any plans in the future ) to have an acces to build / add / customize other tools by myself and to add them to the UI? o- suppose i want to create a "logic gate diagram", i would have to use AND, OR, XOR ( and others ) gate symbols. - i could create a tool for each symbol - add handles to customize it ( radius, height etc.. ) as seen as the little red dot. - the description of each tool is a file that would be imported in Affinity designer. Many thanks for your consideration, for taking the time to read my request, and for this great App !
  4. Hi, I was looking at the thread about the requested features for next versions. In the output formats I saw that the WMF/EMF format is missing. This is crucial in my workflow as most of my graphics are for MS Powerpoint and some other apps that use this format. In the meantime I have to go back and keep working with Inkscape to be able to export to this format, which breaks my workflow and adds a lot of extra work. Please, consider this format in the export options. Even if Powerpoint is a MS product consider that is widely use in Mac system. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys, I can't export some of my art board for some reason. What am I missing?
  6. Hello. Could somebody tell me if this is possible with Affinity Designer : I need to make a road map ; so I want, for example, white roads with a red outline. At the crossing of the roads : one is over another so the outline of the first road does the same ! How can I group this two roads to make the colored outline respect the crossing (so I only have the white on the crossings) ? Sorry for my english and thanks for your answers !
  7. Hello Affinity Community ! My name is Calvin and i'm a hobbyist graphic artist and photographer from Texas. I've been using Affinity Photo and Designer a couple years now and it changed a lot for me to be able to do things easily, and get my ideas on the software SO MUCH easier than other programs. Here's some pictures from a series of images I've been working on to express myself through digital media. Hope you like it !
  8. Hi, In the dark UI Style of Affinity Designer (Windows) the colour of the tab of the active document isn't easy to determine. The colours of the active and non active windows are too close in shade and if there are only 2 doucments open it isn't obvious which is the active document. Do others have similar confusion? Thanks, Ray
  9. Hi guys, hope you have some insight on this one. So I'm trying to make a double helix illustration that curves around the bottom of the beaker in the image attanched. I've managed to troubleshoot a few of the problems I was having with it and I'm learning a lot! Unfortunately, though, the brush has a very light but visible grey background that I just can't seem to get rid of. I made the brush by creating an artboard with a black background (it's hex 000000, I checked) while the shape itself has a white stroke. Then I exported it as a .png and then created a "new textured intensity brush" I was just following a youtube tutorial so maybe there's a better way to do that for the effect I'm trying to achieve anyway. If anyone has any suggestions it'd be most appreciated.
  10. Hi all, here are some of my work for Bulgarian Libertarian Society https://goo.gl/CNq74y all done with Affinity Photo and Designer. Images in colages are from pixabay.com.
  11. I've been living with this for a long time now, thinking perhaps I might get used to it, but I haven't, and it still feels like it is unnecessarily slowing down my workflow. There are two issues here, but they feel related to me: Selection outline fade out when deselecting an element I either want to see a selection or I don't. Having a second in between every time I deselect something is quite frustrating. I want to work on something, see how it looks, repeat. Not working on something, wait a second, see how it looks. Outline appears after about a second of hovering over an element I'm not sure I if I need this hover feature at all, but if I do want to use it, I certainly don't want the delay. I am never going to sit with the mouse still and wait for it. I'm guessing this delay was added to prevent constant highlights, but I think holding down a key to get the highlight would be much preferable to a time delay. Additionally, I'm not sure why it fades out again almost immediately. This feature as it is just means I get shapes fading in and out every now and again, which is quite distracting. These two issues seem like things that could be configured in preferences, but I can't see a way to do so currently.
  12. Hello to You all, This is my last vectorial drawing. Realistic vectorial drawing, done using Affinity Designer. I'm really excited with the results, see below. How to draw realistic objects (this case a headphones) with Affinity Designer. Step by step the full project here on behance Best regards Francky
  13. Hi does anyone knows the link of the complete list of free downloads for both affinity designer and photo?
  14. In this short tutorial I'll show you how to draw simple polygon spirals in Affinity Designer 1.6.0. We will use the rotation origin, transformation panel and the duplicate function. Link to the video on YouTube Enjoy the video and have fun to draw your own polygon spirals. It's simple but interesting! Norbert
  15. Hi there! A little new to iPad and Affinity, read something that some iPad versions (I think I have a kind of new iPad but maybe 3-4 years old) do not support Affinity Photo/Designer? I was thinking of making my own font but it doesn't always get a good output when I finish it and scan my font and upload it to the font services. That's why I wanted to either: 1) Buy a pen tablet and sketch my text and write directly into Affinity Designer. 2) Draw the text on a paper - make a photo with my iPhone, email it to my mail, open up the jpeg in AD and use the pen tool to re-make the text 3) Try an iPad app that works, draw the text (maybe the format will be better and easier when I open the file in AD) and it's there to be edited (color, size etc). Just need to be sure which file formats Affinity Designer can handle. Option 2 seems a little time consuming tho ... I was looking at Graphic and Vectornator but also gonna research these ones: https://www.howtoisolve.com/best-ipad-pro-drawing-apps/ Anyone else with some experiences or what would be the best option for Affinity Designer? I'm doing 80s synthwave/retrowave art and would like to do some of my own texts. Perhaps I can do my own font easier with this method too?? Best
  16. Leicester is red Stilton is blue Who doesn't love melted cheese? Weirdos, that's who. A piece for instagram.
  17. Hi all. I just bought Affinity Designer on Sunday to take advantage of the sale. Except for minor edits to a couple of SVG files, I've not worked with vector art before (or really any art except my camera since I was at school about 24 years ago), and am enjoying it very much. I used to code software and considered it an artistic form of logic, and vector art seems to be a logical form of art. Well ... perhaps it's just the way my head works. But I did a couple of tutorials (one and a half anyway!) and am now working on a picture of two of my nieces. Intro over! Most of the work is just the foundation shapes and colours. Zoe's (the girl on the left) cheek line, laughter line, mouth (ouch, those squint teeth!) and nostril are just place holders. Her skin tones are what I was working on today, and I'm pretty much happy with. I realise I haven't yet done the shadows around her neckline, but at the moment I'm struggling with the nose. I just can't seem to get it right. I'm just wondering if some fresh sets of eyes might be able to see where I've gone wrong. Perhaps I've just been working on the picture for too long today. I'm attaching the picture so far, as well as the reference photo. And a close-up of the nose in case that helps. Any other criticism is welcome. They're both a few years older now (Zoe just left for university, and Emily is now ten), so I don't know if they'll like this. But I hope they'll like the gesture, and so I'd like to put the effort in. Tim PS Just noticed that maybe I need to add some more darker shades under the nose -- I've been concentrating on the ridge and sides. Unfortuantely I now need to get some work done and get to bed, but any input is more than welcome.
  18. Hello Everyone and Happy New Year. I am using AD side by side with CC in plan of total replacement in the near future, but I ran into some troubles when importing Ai files in AD and exporting from AD for later import in Ai, as my colleagues use Ai, what is the ideal export configuration that I can use so my colleagues using Ai can import without any problems, and what is the ideal Ai configuration that my colleagues can use so I can import in AD without any issues, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  19. just a bit of fun. main work done in designer the eye of the feather was created in designer then edited in photo. I really like how I can go into photo apply a live filter and then come back into designer and have that live filter in designer and editable.
  20. Just thought I would share a vector illustration that I recently did in Affinity Designer for some nengajo (Japanese New Years cards) that I was working on. For those not familiar with the Daruma (doll), they are normally sold at temples (and some stores carry them) and people buy them when they have a goal that they want to strive for. When you buy the Daruma, it has two blank eyes and you draw one eye in when you start trying to achieve your goal and then you draw the second eye in once you have achieved your goal. I remember reading that the Russian Matryoshka dolls were inspired by the Daruma doll but I don't know if this is true or not? Hokusai
  21. In this user request I will demonstrate how to work with cut lines and the overprint function of Affinity Designer 1.6.0. You need this functions for printing and cutting stickers with custom shapes. You can download the Affinity Designer project file of the tutorial here: https://goo.gl/JT7yQh Keep on drawin' Norbert
  22. A portrait (vector, affinity designer), for me one of the best actresses ever. Love for Liz. https://www.bodobe.de/vektor-grafik-portrait/
  23. Here are some fruit assets (vectors) to share: fruits.afassets
  24. Hey Everyone, Just felt like posting what I was hoping would be included in the previous contest for promotional artworks but I didn't make it. Understandable because the material is a little risque but here it is in all its glory. This was created in Affinity Designer with a mix of Vertor shapes used as a mask in the Draw Persona and painting in the Pixel Persona.
