  1. More denim and leather, this time a wallpaper for my phone done with Affinity Designer.
  2. Just fancied doing it for some reason, skipped the lettering as it was a quickie.
  3. I have created a document in Affinity Designer and sent it to a printing company who have replied and said it is not in the correct format. It is an A5 document and as per their guidelines I created a 3mm bleed. I have exported it (and clicked 'More' and 'Include Bleed) but when I export it as a PDF it has a white border around it. I have scoured these forums for answers, I have tried exporting it about 10 times now using different settings- with and without printers markers, as a preset 'PDF for print' to name a few. I even created a slightly larger document (a few cm bigger than A5) to see if that worked! I just need the background colour to go all the way to the edge of the PDF and not have a white border! The company won't print it until I send it without this so I need to sort this out as soon as I can! :o
  4. this software is awesome!!! I just wait for adjustments in the part of the booleans when separating curves with miter
  5. Hi guys, this tutorials shows how you can achieve a glitch effect.
  6. A simple badge design that works great for t-shirts, using just simple shapes.
  7. Hi, I have spent hours trying to figure out why the edges on this logo when exported become rough & pixelated. The logo will be used for print & web - I have tried multiple Document Settings including; Type: Web - 1280 px by 800 px 72 DPI & 300 DPI, Type: Print - 2000px, 3000px - 300 DPI. All coming out distored, pixelated or with black lines. I have also tried to rasterize which didnt work. Is there something I am missing here? Document set up quality? I'm stuck! I just need clean crisp edges on the logo. I have attached images of Affinity view screen with 100% zoom along with image of exported PNG, PDF & JPG Thanks!
  8. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to draw psychedelic, checkered patterns in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 using the Geometric operations. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  9. Hi, One of my latest illustration, a self-portrait. Any feedback will be appreciated :). Regards.
  10. A friend of mine the other night said he wanted a tattoo of a tattered black and white American flag. Watching the Superbowl I started a little design work. Here is what I came up with. BTW I really want to buy all the brushes that are available in the store, might make life a little easier
  11. Just playing around designing a logo for my solid model design work Extreme Logo Design.afdesign
  12. I've made a few of these in AD. They're not really for any purpose other than looking cool. My original idea was about illustrating time. Using a convoluted method, I convert a date/time into numbers that I use to construct the shape , which also defines its colors. If you have any questions/comments let me know And check out my social media (in my signature) if you want to see more of my work.
  13. Made this as a sort of test for work. We do a lot of technical illustration of equipment and I'm trying to push Affinity Designer I really enjoyed working in AD on this. First time creating vector brushes for the cables. The labels only contain two objects, since the 3D look is just an effect and the colors are stroke+fill.
  14. With these simple hatching styles you can hatch your vector objects in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. Affinity Publisher Beta seems not working yet (previews looks strange on my machine). DOWNLOAD: https://mensch-mesch.com/download/affinity-designer-schraffuren-hatchings/ With the red styles you can easily change the color of the hatching while using an adjusment layer recolor. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  15. I'm sure that I'm not alone in wanting this feature. Coming from a background of working in Photoshop (I'm not really a vector-person), I absolutely love using Affinity Designer's Pixel Persona. The organic/natural media-esque brushes have always been my go-to, and I've been using them in Designer a bunch. On the flip side, I use the Draw Persona more for layout and lettering. For this reason I think it would be really handy to have the Magic Wand Tool (the same as in Photo) in the Designer Pixel Persona. So far the selection brush doesn't really do the trick, and using the lasso (while very useful) to manually select areas can become a bit tedious. Just putting this out there for consideration.
  16. Leprechaun 2019 Initial inking This is the first in a series of videos detailing my process of vector inking my shirt design for the upcoming St Patrick's Day 5k. In these first two steps, I trace my approved sketch with a tapered vector brush in Affinity Designer, intentionally overlapping my lines so that in step two, I can divide them where they cross and delete away the excess portions. I've been making an effort to do more and more of my workflow in Affinity Designer instead of my standard Illustrator app so part of this process was exploration and trying out new tools and methods. I'm still hoping we get an eraser and a blob tool (amongst other features) to make this process a little easier. Also - the combine boolean leaves behind a TON of nodes in its wake... is that something being addressed?
  17. Still getting used to the whole photo editing and designing thingamajig. First one is logo Ive designed for friends Kickboxing club, its still WIP as I feel its not just there yet. Second is me messing about in Photo using the Xenon brush pack. I did wan't to try and use the smoke brush pack. But I just couldn't get it right and watching the creators Youtube video in slow motion still didn't help.
  18. Hello! This is my first time using affinity designer Nice to meet you all!
  19. Hi, I could not find if this was covered yet here on the forums. I just exported a color palette in Designer (to iCloud drive) with many global colors that had custom names assigned (RAL palette). When I imported the palette as document palette back into another project the custom names on the global colors were all gone and reverted back to their default names. The standard colors and gradients all kept their names, just the global color names were gone. Please advise. Cheers, Marc
