  1. I'm trying to create an action to fill my copyright metadata on several images. I record the action, filling the metadata fields, but when I run the action, nothing happens, no fields are filled with any info. Trying this on Photo, on Mac, on the IPTC (image), IPTC (Contact), and Rights tab. Strange enough, when I use the action on a batch job, the output images have the metadata inserted. To recreate the problem: create a new empty file start recording an action and put some text on any field of IPTC or Rights tab stop recording and save the action create a new file and run the action In my case nothing happens. Does anyone have the same issue?
  2. Hello. Purchased all 3 of your products from you during the Black Friday sale. The purpose of the purchase was to give up Photoshop completely. Please help me understand how advanced, modern and up to date your program is for many of your users! How can I install scripts and actions from photoshop cc? I have a huge need to run on your program exactly Photoshop scripts and actions (.ath .jsx .pat .tpl .abr). There is no information on this topic anywhere (or I didn't look hard enough). Please help me to run Photoshop scripts and actions on your program (windows 10)!
  3. Affinity Photo and current/former Adobe users: Is there any way to recreate the effect of the Adobe PS>Filter Gallery>Dry Brush using Affinity Photo? If anyone has insight into the Affinity version of Adobe’s Smart Blur, that would be appreciated as well. Basically, I’m trying to translate some PS Actions into AP Macros, but there are a couple of PS specific steps that I don’t know the Affinity equivalents for. Anyone that speaks both languages would be helpful. I also know that AP for iPad doesn’t create Macros. I’ll be translating on desktop to hand off to little sister on iPad. IMG_0430.MP4
  4. Hello. I'm trying to recreate some Photoshop actions in Affinity Photo and I'm having a problem with Blend Options in Affinity. Could someone explain to me how to translate Photoshop's "Blend If" into Affinity Photo's "Blend Options"? A specific example in the screenshots below. I tried importing a simple PSD project with this very setting on one of the layers, but it didn't work. The setting Photo reproduced was quite bizzare (created many nodes and pushed them all to the bottom of the Source Layer matrix, making the object/layer invisible). I would love some help. Is it possible to translate this setting to produce the exact same result in Photo?
  5. Sample image attached Since i use the "export > share > save image" option 90% of my time, it would be really nice to have the option to add this "tool" to the main toolbar. Ofc even better, if you could add specific tools and options to the toolbar, like the sample image i made. I thought i would be able to do that now since there are keyboard shortcuts available, but sadly there are obviously options missing that could improve my workflow a lot! either way, adding those custom tools, improving the shortcut options (adding custom shortcuts to custom tools/options), or adding a "actions" setting like in photoshop would resolve this problem of automating workflow even more. anyway, thx a lot for this amazing product!!!! cheers!
  6. I love it if there was a way to script affinity products. JavaScript or Lua or anything really. Ideally all features would be scriptable so I could use Affinity to generate stuff or build actions or load/export a bunch of files. I don't need personally need a UI to get started though I'm sure some folks would love an Actions palette
  7. As a photographer, I create macros to make my life easier and save time on repetitive tasks. I've created a simple macro that resizes the image canvas and flattens the image. I want to also include saving and closing the image, but I keep getting a dialog asking if I want to save the flatten image. My answer to the dialog box question is always 'Yes'. Why can't I just record my dialog box choices into the macro?
  8. I am basically trying to recreate some Photoshop Actions I use all the time. In Photoshop I can create a few Vibrance adjustments with vibrance at -100 and saturation at +100 and it shows the most intense areas. In Photoshop these are just in a folder but they work without the folder too. In Affinity Photo this doesn't really do anything like in Photoshop so I am not sure how the layers actually behave? I do have some other questions -- if someone out here is really proficient with Affinity -- would it be helpful if I sent over my Photoshop Actions -- I have 3 that I really want to match with Affinity. Thank you, Roman [I've attached the vibrance effect that photoshop can (seemingly) accomplish and Affinity not] -- before and after
  9. I'm new to Designer but I'm looking to make the switch from Ai. I specialise in making complex isometric illustration and I've heard word of the addition of "Isometric Studio" to the latest Designer beta but I've not been able to find out what this is. Is there any word what this may include?
  10. Is there any way to automate the designer (macros, actions, python-scripts, ...)?
  11. Hi guys, i'm looking for a similar tool the "Actions"Photoshop in Affinity Photo. Could anyone tell me which tool has the same function? Thanks! Sorry for my English. ^^'
  12. I know this feature has been requested before (macros/actions), but it's not quite there yet for my needs. With the 1.5 update, Affinity Photo does have a basic macro recording function now, but it still does not eliminate the need for Photoshop from my workflow until I can assign custom keyboard shortcuts to the macros for rapid playback! I've been very impressed with Affinity Photo so far, and I really want to see it become a "Photoshop Killer"! I work in entertainment press photography, and we typically edit around 100-200 photos a night from an average movie premiere/event, or up to 1000 photos from a major awards show. We work at a rapid pace and on very tight deadlines, so speed is critical. My typical workflow in Photoshop ... - I need to be able to eyeball every single photo in a set and make rapid corrections with a series of keyboard shortcuts. Batch processing might work for some jobs, but looking at every single photo to make adjustments quickly is also frequently needed. - I usually open 200 photos in Photoshop at a time (Photoshop's limit) in a cascading stack, then do corrections to levels, sharpness, and maybe slight color correction if needed. - Save/close the file as JPEG 8, 300dpi at 3000x2000 px (Saved while closing the file with COMMAND-W on Mac) - Repeat until I'm done with all 200, and then work on an addition 200 files if needed - Then caption all the photos with the name of the person/people using Photo Mechanic What I would love to see in Affinity Photo is the same rapid editing ability that Photoshop has. For example, I would love to be able to assign a keyboard shortcut to macros/actions that do something like the following: CTRL-SHIFT-F1 - Auto Brightness/Contrast CTRL-SHIFT-F2 - Brighten 10% CTRL-SHIFT-F3 - Brighten 20% CTRL-SHIFT-F4 - Auto Color Temp CTRL-SHIFT-F5 - De-Orange CTRL-SHIFT-F6 - De-Blue CTRL-SHIFT-F7 - Auto Sharpen CTRL-SHIFT-F8 - Sharpen 10% CTRL-SHIFT-F9 - Sharpen 20% CTRL-ALT-L - Last Used Level Adjustment CTRL-ALT-C - Last Used Color Correction CTRL-ALT-U - Last Used Sharpness Adjustment I think you get the idea :-) Another feature I would love to see is IPTC data creation/editing (or even basic awareness, passthrough). It's not an absolute must for me, since I use Photo Mechanic, which does an amazing job. However, I would not like to have a situation pop up where maybe I need to go back and do a quick edit to a file that has already been captioned in Photo Mechanic, but Affinity Photo doesn't save the existing IPTC data that's already in the file (ie. strips that info out). That would be "no bueno"! Thanks for listening!
  13. In Photoshop it is possible, when creating an action, to insert a menu item. This takes the production of macros or actions to a whole new level and allows you to create all kinds of things that are currently unavailable in Affinity. Do you think it would be possible to add this functionality? Thanks
  14. Hello Serif & especially Patrick, Please can you tell me when Actions are going to be added to Affinity Designer? Being able to create macros/Actions is going to save a tremendous amount of time when repeating a series of events. Please, please can you tell me if this is coming out in version 6? Peaches
  15. Actions are an option. Is there a way to set a default stroke size?...it is 0.2 pts, but I am using primarily 1 pt. Any other tips will be helpful.
  16. With the extortion experts Adobe screwing users of Creative (Accounting) Cloud with its revised pricing 20 to 50 percent, never has there been a greater need for a competitive alternative. Affinity comes nearest but shows no enthusiasm for closing the gap. When will it address the problems around plugins on Mac, or support Photoshop Actions, or have a file organiser, or make headway into reducing its gigantic file sizes? Solve these and you could have the world beating a path to your doorstep.
  17. Are there actions in Affinity Designer? If so, what are they called or what are they under in the menu?
  18. In this tutorial I'm gonna show you how to draw a simple paper clip in Affinity designer. In the first step we will draw the single paper clip as a curve and will use the actions break curve and join curve. With the pen tool we will extend the curve so that it looks like a real paper clip. In the second step (8:18) we will link two paper clips together. Therefor we will use the function expand stroke and the operations devide and add. In the third step we will use a rectangle as a clipping mask to create the drawing for the closed paper clip brush (12:38). At 16:12 I'll show you how to export the paper clip drawings as transparent png files. Creating different brushes in AD and AP will been shown at 18:05. https://youtu.be/Iaq7lmSsVoA
  19. Hi, I'm a graphic designer specializing in book covers and I'm considering making the switch from Adobe to your programs. They look absolutely beautiful and I've downloaded the free trial of Design to test out but noticed there isn't a free trial for photo. I want to test the program out before I make the switch mainly to see if the Photoshop Plugins and actions I have will work. Is there a trial I can download? And will the plugins and what not I've purchased for Photoshop work in your program? Thanks for your time!
  20. Hi Guys, The only feature we are really missing from the old days using Photoshop is the batch actions feature. The ability to run changes on multiple files at once in a batch. Appreciate it isn't a simple feature to add in. Apart from this Affinity Photo is far superior to Photoshop in speed, features and usability. It has sped our teams up significantly already. I can't express enough how appreciative we are at the awesome job Affinity have done releasing this program, it's exceptional. Cheers Ben
