Hi I'd like to apply borders to finished work. In programs such as PS or the old Paint Shop Pro, I used to select all>contract by [x] pixels>invert selection>apply effect to selected area. Is there a similar procedure for AP? Thanks -
I've received an offer from Serif for Photozoom Pro 6, the dedicated enlargement software I previously used with Photoplus in various incarnations. Since moving to Affinity Photo, I've been very happy with the Enlarge Document function in AP - my question, does Photozoom Pro produce enlargements any better than AP can natively, or are elements of the Photozoom algorithms part of the AP process? I'd be interested if anyone has done any comparitive tests. Thanks chaps. -
Hello, AP 1.5.2.66 (Beta) crash on Windows with Wacom Tablett, Bamboo Driver V5.3.0-3. First: - Manualy uninstall the previous beta (in system control) - Install AP Beta 1.5.2.66 -> (no error messages) --- 1. Start AP Beta (First: Wacom Pencil moves normally) 2. Create new Picture or open an existing picture (does not matter) 3. Center the picture with the hand tool -> Movement with a tremble effect 4. Select the brush tool and move brush on canvas Result: The brush tip moves in a different place on the picture -> then AP crash immediatly. I hope I could help. Pinnochio -
Hi, I am using AP to crop dozens of screenshots and wanted to automate that. I created several macros (due to different resolutions of the screenshots), but in no macro can I add the FILE > SAVE (or CMD+S) command. Even CMD+W after the cropping does not work, as when I click SAVE in the close dialog, AP says it will not save that stuff. The Macro Recorder says "Cannot record "Export document". Is that correct behaviour? If so, is it possible to add the SAVE command to macros in a future version of AP? Thanks and happy May the 1st.

I was hoping to see this serious issue resolved in the new version. Unluckily the InPainting brush in AP is still suffering from lag that makes it simply unusable for professional work. I'm aware that not everyone hast to deal with this effect - on the other side I'm not experiencing anything similar with PS or other products. As well my system requirements should allow a fluent workflow. System config: Win 7 - 64Bit, iCore I7 3770K, 32GB Ram, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 570, Wacom Intuos 4, Affinity Photo 1.5.1.51 Beta See the example video: https://youtu.be/nh3aNvkA8Oc -
Thanks in advance friends... ...when flattening into a single pixel layer, do I first need to rasterize the grouped layers? Not sure how to do this, i.e, I'm unclear on the steps involved, and the proper order in which to perform them. A brief walk-thru would be greatly appreciated. FYI - I am wanting to manipulate the Flat image (bend, curve around a cylindrical surface such as a large barrel or a utility pole, alter perspective and/or viewing angle, stretch by pulling/moving nodes independently of each other, etc). greateful for your help, -Christo -
Hello friends, how can I open more than one instance of AP & AD? I have two monitors and work on two different projects, am still young and multitasking capable ;) Since I can use AP / AD only as an instance, I'm forced to edit the second project parallel under Adobe CC (I find Adobe's licensing policy horrible!) and wants to get away from all Adobe products! Hi as the title says I don't know what composite alpha channel is and how I can use it. I understand that alpha is transparency but this channel is white, I've never used it but I want to know what it is and what it is its function thanks.... -
Just opened AP and it tells me there's a new version, would I like to download it? Is this an update to 1.5, or a totally new version 1.6? The link takes me to a webpage where I can BUY the new version, but 1.5 only became available in November or December. Please advise! -

Since I'm working witht he german version of APW I'm constantly struggeling with asking and answering questions here in the forum in the english language since in many cases I dont't know the proper english menu, tools and panel naming as only the german version is available as a reference. It would be great to have a lookup table to properly translate from foreign language to the original english naming of menue, panels and descriptions of AP. This would prevent a lot of unnecessary work and misunderstanding in the forum. Cheers Timo -
Congratulations to the team who convinced so many users to give AP a try. Purchased immediately my own copy for windows after first viewing all the demo videos. What I like is the bunch of ideas which improve workflow so much compared to the most referenced PS product. Especially the multiple "merge file" operations are convincing (HDR,stacking, etc.). As there are tons of database and picture file administration tools it would be a nice "roundup" when the workflow: File viewer-->AP-->Merge to HDR or other would be supported by a functionality like "collect all open files to a merge list" and select from there. But in general I think it is a good procedure to not try to copy too much functionality from existing software products because the good ideas will get lost.

Say an image you open in AP has a random line, maybe the border of a sign with perspective. How do you determine the angle of that line? (Or could be a line on an object in AD also, BTW). I thought about drawing a Pen Tool line on top of the inherited line but that doesn't help because AP puts a bounding box (horizontally) around your new line and declares the new line to be horizontal. I also thought about using the rulers to do Trig calcs but there must be an easy AP method, right? In PS you use the Measurer Tool. Or what if I wanted to draw a line at 20 degrees? How would I do that? One potential solution is use Shift to draw the line horizontal, then select the line and rotate it until it reads 20 deg in the Tip or in the Transform pallet. What do you think? AP for Win 10 -

When I "place" a background or other element, it comes in much much larger than the size of the image I'm working on. Then I have to decrease the size of the working image to almost nothing to be able to find the handles & downsize the "placed" element. Am I missing something? Dragging and dropping an image does the same thing. I have been watching the videos in between trying to work. There are enough differences in AP and PS to create a learning curve.

Hi; I'm giving the AfP extensions a try; regarding Apple Photo app, i've found this issue: I've loaded a bunch of JPG images into Photos. Selected one, clicked 'edit'; looked for the AfP extensions and selected the 'edit in affinity photo' one. Image loads into AfP normally. Edited it, exported, then closed. Back in Photos, clicked on Cancel in order to preserve the original. Then I selected a second photo and repeated the steps. When selecting the AfP extension, Apple Photo tries to load it into AfP, but the document never gets opened. Pressing cancel or closing the app brings a message indicating that the edition is in progress, but the document never gets loaded into AfP. Quitting Apple Photos and reopening it brings me to step 1: can edit the first image, but hangs on the second. My camera's RAW format isn't compatible with Photos, so I cannot tell you if this is a JPG issue or a general one. Regards; Val -

Hallo to everyone, i was wondering why i can open from lightroom in Affinity in PSD format, but after i can't have it back in lightroom, if i use a tif file or jpeg the is no problem... but not with PSD.. Missing something? -

Hi, I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 to edit 16 bit PSD and TIFF image files. As I make an edit to the image (e.g. move an adjustment Curve, or rotate the image in the Crop tool), the live changes are made in a 'tiled' way; you can see the image being updated block by block over around a quarter of a second or so. Is this a consequence of AP's rendering process? Or is it related to the host machine's processing power? Cosmetically I would prefer a smoother rendering of edits. As an example, PS CS6 updates the image as a whole as I make adjustments, albeit with a small delay of a quarter-second or so. Not a huge issue really, but if there was a way to see smoother updates it would be lovely. I'm using AP Trial v1.3.5 on a late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, OS X 10.10.5 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. Many thanks, Matt -
Hi there, being a newbie to affinity photo I tried to follow the Affinity Photo-cutting out video with an own photo. Everything went fine, masking was in fact very easy and I succeeded in copying the masked area of the photo. But as I pasted it into another photo, there was no way to resize or turn it in any way, may it a photo or a new Document. It was always pasted without any anchors, where I could turn, resize, move up or down the object. Really annoying compared to what could be seen in the movie, Can anyone give a hint - I viewed the video over and over, looking if I could find any clicked option - nothing to see. Btw. searching the forum I didn't find anything about cutting except for AD. It could be helpful if the questions resp. answers could have a tag AP or AD Greetings from Berlin docesen -
I create a path with the path tool, then I change the path to a selection. How can I render / change the selection to a blurred line? The selection is first always sharp… Thanks for any help :) -
I would like to be able to toggle the overlays like masks on and off individually and also deactivate all to see a comparison.
