  1. Affinity Designer 2.1.1 cannot open a svg if the file is encoded in ASCII. When I change the encoding to UTF-8, then it works just fine: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ascii" standalone="no"?> <svg version="1.1" ... => <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <svg version="1.1" ... Is there a reason why Affinity doesn't support ASCII (Inkscape does).
  2. SVG not work open because Blender 3.6.1.app save .svg then go Affinity Designer.app open is error. https://imgur.com/4bO8Qpf 0001.svg
  3. This maybe isn't a bug but something that seems to be unnecessarily getting in the way none of the less. When I render Blender's freestyle line art as an SVG file Affinity Designer won't open it. It says the filetype isn't supported. The problem seems to be that the SVGs start with an <?xml> tag. If I remove that they open fine. So there's a workaround but it's a bit of a pain when working with many files. I don't know if this is a very unique scenario or if other SVG files may pose this problem as well. Either way it would be nice to not have this speed bump. Cheers, Mark
  4. Files with the xml encoding set to ascii <?xml version='1.0' encoding='ascii'?> ..... cannot be opened, instead this error message is displayed: (This error seems to appear in all Affinity Apps) Simply setting the encoding to utf-8 fixes the issue and the file loads normally. <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> ..... Opening the file in Inkscape 1.2.1 works fine. Setup: Windows 10 Affinity Designer 2.0.3 Example files, differing just in xml encoding, are attached below. test_2_ortho0001 - ascii.svg test_2_ortho0001 - utf-8.svg
  5. Hi everyone, I am trying to open an SVG file I exported from Blender. The file opens fine in other SVG applications. I can even drag and drop on a chrome browser and it loads it fine. Affinity Designer, however, will not open and shows a dialogue box "Failed to open file: The file type is not supported". Is there a solution for this? Best, James test.svg
