  1. Worked perfectly fine this morning, saw there was an update available (2.5.0), but was in a rush, so I finished my project, then updated it afterwards. Now it won't open - splash screen gets to "initialising...", then immediately CTD, no error message All drivers are up to date, windows is up to date, tried clean install of affinity, tried holding ctrl and clearing user data, made sure geforce now isn't trying to get 60000fps, tried undervolting cpu just incase (bc I heard 14th gen intel is having problems with power draw) nothing seems to work Not experiencing any problems with any other programmes Edit: spelling and version number Edit 2: apparently we can roll it back a version here: https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/windows/photo/2/ (change "photo" to whichever one you use) and go to previous versions at the bottom. Staff have said that you need to install 2.5.1, but I can't find it anywhere. Only 2.5.0 is available.
  2. Hi, downloaded the MSI-Installer of all three applications. First I tried affinity-photo-msi-2.5.0.exe. The intallation or inizializaton process stopped at 'loading font ...' and I was left with my windows desktop although with a refreshed aphoto application icon on the desktop. Did the same with AFDesigner. The exact same behaviour. Initialization stopped at 'loading fonts ...' and I was left with a new 'Affinity Designer 2 icon' on my desktop. I then didn't try publisher.
  3. I just upgraded from 2.4 -> 2.5 and can't get the app to go passed loading fonts. Is there a crash log somewhere I can send?
  4. V2.5 cannot be started. After 'fonts are initialized' the program crashes immediately. Old version completely uninstalled. Unsuccessful attempts with MSI and with EXE. I've never had anything like this before. Where can I download V2.4 again? @ Ok, I found that. I'll stay patient and wait for a solution... 😇
  5. All Affinity apps 2.5.0 (Testing done mainly on Publisher.) Windows 11 Hardware acceleration ON I see other reports of crashes of 2.5.0 but it's hard to understand if any of them match this one. I successfully used 2.5.0 after upgrading. Source Sans was one of my "favourite" fonts in the font selector I had the static version of Source Sans installed - 14 variants I decided to replace them with the variable version of Source Sans. I uninstalled all the 14 variants, and installed the two variable fonts, regular and italic. Now for the crash - when I started Publisher, the splash screen got to "Loading Fonts ..." and then it crashed - silently disappeared. I've included the Event Viewer event below. (I use High-Logic MainType to install and uninstall fonts) I tried a number of things - uninstalling the variable fonts, stopping High-Logic MainType's Windows Service, rebooting, and starting Publisher holding Control and deleting my preferences, but to no avail. Then I thought perhaps it's looking for the static version of Source Sans, so I installed the 14 variants and RESULT! Publisher and the other apps now start correctly. Of course Source Sans and my other favourite fonts are no longer shown as favourite, presumably because they are part of the preferences that I removed when I started Publisher holding down the Control key. I reproduced the sequence - close Publisher, uninstall the 14 Source Sans variants, start Publisher: It crashes at "Loading Fonts..."; install the 14 fonts, start Publisher: it starts correctly. I noticed that uninstalling the fonts while Publisher is running caused Publisher to crash, with no entry on the Windows Event Log. Now I uninstalled the fonts one by one, while Publisher is running, starting with the heaviest. Publisher didn't crash until I uninstalled Source Sans 3 Medium. These are the other ones that made it crash: ExtraLight Italic, Light Italic, Italic. Publisher (and Designer) are happy with the other variants uninstalled. So it's just those four fonts that have to be installed for the apps to start. Otherwise they fail at "Loading Fonts..." To be honest I can't think of any time I've actually used ExtraLight Italic for anything, or included it in anything that might have gone into a "PropertyCollection" (what's mentioned in the Event message). 6. I tried to update Designer to 2.5 from inside the app and now it only gets as far as Installing Fonts on the loading screen before it crashed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with both the exe and the msix and got the same result. I have a job to complete, so this isn't a great time for this, but luckily I have Designer installed on another machine. Windows 11 home, latest update x64
  7. Since I updated to 2.5.0 on Windows Affinity Photo will not load at all. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. Still broken. I don't have files to roll back to and can't find any on the Affinity site. I need Affinity Photo for my projects. When will this be fixed, and where can I get an earlier file? I'm glad I didn't update either Designer or Publisher because I'm worried they'll not work anymore either. Please help.
  8. I currently have the new 2.5.0 version. After installing some fonts, the program will not open anymore. I attempted reinstalling, and holding CTRL when starting to clear the data. I have an older exe to use, and on an older version, the program starts fine. However, after uninstalling some fonts, version 2.5 opens fine. Curious..
  9. I just updated all of my Affinity applications to version 2.5 on a Windows 10 machine. The installations went fine, but when I launched them, the splash screen appears (saying that the fonts are loading), disappears, and then nothing happens. I tried several times for each application and the same result: nothing. I also updated the apps on my Macbook Pro, and they worked fine.
  10. After updating Affinity Designer from 2.4.x to 2.5.0, the application does not start. The splash screen appears for about 2s, no further information. Windows Event log has one entry for Designer Application: Designer.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException at <Module>.PersonaController.LoadFontsAndPropertyCollections(PersonaController*) at Serif.Interop.Persona.Services.InteropService.LoadFontsAndPropertyCollections() at Serif.Affinity.Application+<>c__DisplayClass100_0.<OnServicesInitialised>b__1() at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() Is there a way to downgrade to 2.4.x?
  11. Same problem with Windows! Updated to 2.5.0 and now can't open app!
  12. I updated using the msi.exe system. Everything installed normally but the program would not then run: stalls at the initialisation screen (never gets to loading fonts). I have re-installed 2.4.2. I see that others are reporting the same problem.
  13. Hello My apps came from direct from the Afinity store and now refuse to start following the latest update All that happens when I try to start the apps is that it says initiasing followed by Loading fonts. They then just quit. This happens both from directily running the app and from double clicking a file. My computer is running a fully up-to-date version of Windows 11 pro Any help please - is this related to the Mac os problem?
  14. Am experiencing this problem Just updated to v2.5 of Photo and Designer - the Windows EXE installer. Both apps now show their splash screens for a couple of seconds showing initialising -> loading fonts...then the splash screen disappears, app fails to open - nothing else happens. Have rebooted but no difference. Was working fine with version 2.4 immediately prior to upgrading.
  15. Affinity Photo will not launch after upgrade to V2.5. Neither will it launch when I install V2.5.1. How do go back to V2.4. I cannot find it on the Affinity website.
  16. I am unable to open any of the version 2.5 apps in Windows 11. I have downloaded both the MSIX and MSIX/EXE versions for x64 and the apps seem to crash when the splash screen displays loading fonts. I have tried repairing and resetting the apps and neither works. Does anyone have any ideas?
  17. We can confirm that this issue has been fixed in our v2.5.2 update. More information about this update can be found here. The latest version, v2.5.2, can be downloaded from the Affinity Store here or by updating via the relevant app store.
