  1. As a freelance illustrator, I have being creating vector designs in A.D for some time now and I love all the Affinity apps. Without going through many details, I would like to see the Serif team come with an animation program that will fill the gap in their Affinity Suite, It would be really important and helpful for me and other illustrators who like to see their projects with some nice animation magic. I know there are other top features that have being requested by many Affinity users that I support too, but I think this is really an underestimated requested by many. Currently, I am using Wick Editor for animating my work(which has great potential and good for basic animation but lacks a lot, like a lot in features). And I hope the serif team will at least buy/invest in a complimentary program like the Wick Editor or Svgator to their apps or introduce their own better version of a 2d/svg animation program that will empower and inspire creativity within the Affinity Community and be different from other animation software programs that are not compatible with (projects that are made in) Affinity Designer.
  2. Hello! My name is Mikołaj but you can call me Mik. I've been using affinity software since first release in 2014 for graphic design(any kind of user interface design and visual identity assets). Lately some idea popped in my head – I am using the same tools in the same way all the time, so to prevent some kind of stagnation I want to challenge myself to create different kind of artwork that I usually do. Goal: Creating artwork from scratch in a poster format using every tool that is available in the software. I invite you to enjoy this journey with me. 001
  3. Affinity Designer already has a grid and axis manager, to select diferente types of grids, like isometric, dimetric, …. Also it also has the isometric panel, that change planes to edit or fit objects in a given plane. A new option of grid could be developed to do perspective drawings, like on paper with One Point Perspective or Two Point Perspective, that uses vanishing points to create the illusion of depth in an drawing. And probably using a similar organization of isometric drawings. This use of the geometry in the grid and panel, would be very useful for to make this type of drawings. Now, we need to create lines to achieve this, and it is not practical or productive. Does anyone also finds this useful? Cheers
  4. Hey guys, I did this video recently to share my knowledge and tips, how I design my characters. Thanks for watching

  6. How Can I convert a texture to a nomal map (bump map) I affinity photo or affinity designer?
  7. I'm working on creating my own game in Unity and I've updated one of my old hand drawings of the leading character with AD. Looks good AD and it took a bit of getting uses too after using Photoshop. Still in progress, want to add shading and the finer details. First drawing is the hand drawn one, and the second is the work in progress in AD. I also used AP with an Apple iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil to sketch some of the new elements first before adding them to the image in AD.
  8. Hi there, I'm mainly do 3D work with CINEMA 4D lately and I felt that I already forgotten everything I learned about Affinity Designer, so I decided to actually use the just released new version to make something quick. Ended up recreating some flat visuals I saw on the net and put my "own" spin on it. Nothing special, I'm still happy about it. Also I noticed that my main trouble with Affinity Designer is still getting color values from A to B, btw., something wrong with my understanding of the workflow there, I guess.
  9. I can imagine that these features have been requested a lot but a 3D system such as in photoshop would be awesome. I could need it really often and it would improve my workflow by a lot. Another thing I want to make you consider is improving the old DrawPlus or make up an entirely new 2D animationsoftware. I realized that there was non good Animation Software, at least for my needs, and so iI would love if this was possible. Ive seen it a lot that other people got the answer that their proposals were not the planned way for serief, but this would be quiet urgent. Because i had to animate a Chart, I was searching for program and bought DrawPlus, which I came to realization, was aweful. I could not copy and paste my needed vectors in there without an immense detail loss, the backgroud was turned white and the in software programs for background removal where not useable at all. And every other software I downloaded had similar issues. In the end I had to export every single frame out of Designer and assemble them to a GIF in GIMP2. And that was a huge amount of work to do. If you cinsider my Idea I would be pleased to give some suggestions for handy features. Mauritz
  10. Hi, new user who has to possibly make a hardware purchase decision before I get back to my computer next week to test my theory. I want to know if Afinity has the ability to stitch together photos in 2 dimensions. An example would be a panorama with 2 rows of photos, one row containing the foreground and horizon, and the second row to capture the sky immediately above the foreground pics. I have seen many youtube vids showing this as a built-in capacity to Adobe products, but I have not been able to find any Afinity related discussion on the web. The reason I want to do this has two reasons pertaining to medium format (120 film). First, I have started shooting 120 film again, and am looking to find a quality method to scan them in with proportionally high resolution (please, no responses telling me I dont need that high resolution "since most people look at images on a electronic screen", and I already have an Epson 750, which produces unsatisfactory results). There seems to be very promising results by directly imaging 120 film with a DSLR mounted on a stand directly over back-lit film. Unfortunately, if I capture the whole negative with one shot of my DSLR, I am now working at the resolution of a 35mm camera, which defeats the purpose of why I shoot medium format. I have seen wonderful scans made from 4 or more images of the film (moving the camera or film between each shot where by each shot covers a different section of the negative). Then the 4 (or more) shots are stitched together by software, giving you a high res digital negative. All of the tutorials I have watched do this in photoshop or lightroom, which has the ability to do this automatically. Can Afinity Photo do this? If not, I imagine I could create 2 panoramas (one for each row of the negative) and then stitch those two panoramas together, but would prefer automation. FYI the other reason I want to do this is to achieve higher resolution with my DSLR by taking multiple images of the subject in the same way I would shoot the negatives mentioned earlier in my post. thanks!!!!!

  12. Hi all, I wanted to share the work I've done on our 2D mobile game Storm the Train. We've recently done a big update to the iOS version and launched on Android. During this process I've switched over from Illustrator to Affinity Designer and I'm really enjoying using AD. Almost all of the artwork is now created in AD. Attached are a launch image for the Android version and a small compilation of screen shots. If you fancy downloading and having a play, it's free and can be found using the following links. iOS App Store: http://bit.ly/StYK2d Google Play Store: http://bit.ly/1Mn5hdL Love to hear what you think or answer any questions about the production/workflow.
  13. So most (all) gradients are even transitions along a 1d line. AD does 2d, so why not 2d gradients. This is in two parts. One) every gradient would have a "Distort Mode", distort mode brings up a grid of handles, rotated to the direction of the gradient and radial etc. for the respective gradient. These can be moved, distorting the gradient. This would be basically a special implementation of the second part; 2D gradients) each 2d gradient would be a assortment of points, each with controllable spread, hsl, and shape. Spread is the distance, think a gaussian function, squished or squashed. HSL is obvious, color controllable with any of the already implemented options. Shape is the shape (no duh), by default a circle, but a star (long points extending from a circle), square, ellipse, or custom could be chosen. Inspired by Logoist 2's lightmap feature (also a good idea to implement), blurred stuff, low-poly stuff.
