  1. I might be wrong or expecting to much. When using a document with 16 or 32 bit color depth, and 16-bit colors in color panel, i would expect beeing able to enter 16-bit values to RGBHEX. But it will only accept 00-FF (8 bit) and always replace the "high" byte with 00. The "resulting" color code from all 3 channels will simply double/repeat the given 8-bit hex value. This is at least confusing, or a bug. HSL or LAB do not offer any option to enter 16-bit values. And last but not least, the info panel is completely unable to show 16-bit colors. All you get is either 8-bit or less than 7-bit if using % (0-100%). Only option to enter 16-bit is using RGB or greyscale. Only option to display 16-bit color value is to use color picker, and read out result in color panel.
  2. What is the advantage of doing tonal corrections in "Develop Persona" when compared to do the same changes in "Photo Persona" in RGB 16 bit mode? My usual workflow is: I open a RAW file in affinity. Just set to output profile Prophoto and color depth to RGB 16 bit. Then click develop and go to Photo persona and do the tonal changes there. Am I loosing anything by skipping the RAW development and directly going to Photo Persona with 16bit image? Thanks
  3. I've been scanning my old 35mm negatives with a Minolta Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV so that I can put them up on my website. The negatives and all black and white and in need of a bit of attention, so my plan was to run them all through Affinity Photo to remove any dust and scratches and tweak the levels. I did this a few years ago with an old copy of Photoshop CS2 with no issues, so assumed the latest version of Affinity Photo should have no trouble. As I did the last time I scanned a batch of negatives, I have been scanning them with Vuescan as 16bit greyscale TIFF files. When I open the resulting TIFFs in Affinity Photo however, they are opened in the Develop persona with the picture completely blown out. On some occasions they fail to open at all and leave either a blank window reading 0x0 pixels, or crash the app completely. I'm happy to provide a copy of the error log if you think that would be helpful. I can kind of fix the blown out image (for the ones that do actually open) but it really shouldn't be necessary. The files which fail to open at all open fine in Preview, Photoshop CS2 and pretty much anything else I try to open them in. As it is, I am getting better results out of the almost 15 year old Photoshop CS2 than I am out of Affinity Photo. I know I could just use Photoshop, but my copy won't run on my current Mac so I have to open my TIFF files on an old Windows 7 machine. I would much rather however use Affinity Photo as I otherwise find it works very well for my needs. Is there any way in which I can open these TIFF files normally in the photo persona? Is this a bug or the intended behaviour for 16 bit TIFF files? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  4. When I import a RAW file taken on the IPhone and develop it in Affinity’s RAW persona, and then do my processing and save the resulting AFF file, the thumbnail of that image shows in the Home screen as RGB 16 bit below the image dimensions. I’m a little confused; is this 16 bit/channel in the RGB, or the rather restrictive 16-bit RGB format? Sorry for a rather basic question, but I haven’t found an answer online. Thanks in advance. Edward
  5. I love Affinity Photo and Designer. I plug them continually, however, please add support for 16 bit PNG exports!
