With the interface language set to 'English (United States)', the last entry on the 'Text > Spelling' submenu should be 'Ignore Misspelled Word' rather than 'Ignore Mis-Spelt Word'. (To US English speakers, 'spelt' refers solely to an ancient form of wheat.) In both UK English and US English, 'misspelled' does not need a hyphen.

It's probably been like this "forever", but I've just noticed that words such as doesn't, isn't and shouldn't are marked with a wavy red underline as if they're misspelled. Words such as can't, won't and haven't (where the letters before the apostrophe form a valid word) are OK.
