  1. We are pleased to announce version 2.4.1 updates for the Affinity Suite on all platforms. Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher (on macOS, Windows, and iOS) have been updated to add some lessons (where the samples are found) for beginners to Photo and Designer on all OSs. Lessons for Publisher will follow soon. Apart from adding "Lessons" there have been some minor help and translations improvements, and 2.4.2 will follow shortly including fixes. The more comprehensive release notes for 2.4.0 can be found in this thread, which I recommend you follow to be notified of all V2 patches. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (for existing V2 customers) Updates on macOS for Affinity Store Purchases The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, for example Affinity Photo > About...). If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively the full Affinity Store installers are also available here: Affinity Designer 2 on macOS: All Affinity Store builds of Affinity Designer 2 for macOS can be downloaded from this link Affinity Photo 2 on macOS: All Affinity Store builds of Affinity Photo 2 for macOS can be downloaded from this link Affinity Publisher 2 on macOS: All Affinity Store builds of Affinity Publisher 2 for macOS can be downloaded from this link ========================================================================= Updates on macOS through the Mac App Store The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu for example, Affinity Photo > About...). If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available. ========================================================================= Updates on Windows for Affinity Store Purchases The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (for example in Help > About...). If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show. ========================================================================= Updates on iPads The software version can be seen on the corner of Preferences screen. Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad App Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours. ========================================================================= The more comprehensive release notes for the last release v2.4.0 can be found in this thread, which I recommend you follow to be notified of all V2 patches.
  2. Even in this update, there is no update of detected lenses when processing photos from RAW format.
  3. Turns out it seems to have been a Firewall issue, Patrick. It's odd, because the Firewall was already configured to allow all communications to/from publisher.exe, and it showed the correct install directory (exactly as it did for Photo and Designer). I clicked on Allow again in the Firewall configuration dialog, and after that the update check worked
  4. for me all .exe installed applications recognized theres an update and offered me to download it. i installed the .exe applications after uninstalling the msix version at version 2.31 a few weeks ago.
  5. Thanks, @Patrick Connor, but that does not resolve it. After closing Publisher 2.3.1, deleting the files, and restarting Publisher 2.3.1, it still did not automatically detect the update, and a manual check via Help > Check for Updates still fails to find it.
  6. It is likely a caching issue. Please close the application and delete this file and then try again C:\ProgramData\Affinity\Publisher\2.0\update-unpackaged.json Indeed you can likely delete all the files in there. Some are historical.
  7. The EXE/MSI version of Designer 2.3.1, and of Photo 2.3.1, both detected the 2.4.0 update and offered to download it. However, the EXE/MSI version of Publisher 2.3.1 still seems to think it's the latest available:
  8. One new feature that I love is the new 'Size / Rotate objects to same'. That is an excellent addition to the tools and makes a lot of sense, especially for those doing web design with responsive sizing! Sometimes it's those seemingly small additions that make all the difference. I love this journey, watching the Affinity suite growing more and more powerful with each update. Looks like there might be an issue with the example in the 'Layer States added to Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher' example ... it's not playing.
  9. I'm getting an error with APh and ADe when trying to update, shortly before the download is completed: ^ That was on the second try. The APu update completed successfully. P.S. It worked on the 3rd attempt while keeping APh the frontmost app. On the previous two attempts, APh was in the background in a different desktop space.

  19. I agree with this, I would love to see a basic bullet list of items in the update window (on MacOS anyway) so I can make a quick decision about if this is something I need or want to address immediately. And then if I want more details I can follow the forum link, but honestly this window exists for a reason, please make use of it! That said, grateful for the update and the continued hard work! Cheers! 🙏
  20. (Sorry; these examples are for Photo, but you'll find the same for Designer.) For the most recent update, you can use the application Help, e.g., for Photo 2.3 at https://affinity.help/photo2/en-US.lproj/pages/Introduction/keyFeatures.html?list=newFeatures where you'll currently find: Or, at the Affinity Store: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/full-feature-list/ where you'll find: I do wish that the Online and In-App Help had the feature history like the Store has, rather than just the most recent release; that would be very useful. And the Help version is nice because it often gives links to explanations in the Help, not just a list of X, Y, and Z were added. But yes, I also agree that a direct link from the app to such a list would be helpful, too.
  21. Why is there never a straightforward link to the what's been updated on an app? I see that it leads me here and then I have to click around until I finally get to the release notes. What's wrong with placing the notes inside the new update window when we open the app? Clean this up is my opinion, make lives easier, it will pay off and not frustrate users. Keep up the good work as always.
