  1. WE NEED RIGHT TO LEFT PLEASE!!! Waiting for years now and still no native solution. Who need RTL please comment down to reach dev team as soon as possible. I have V1 and V2 and not working on both Thanks Please note we dont need 3th party apps or softwares. we need a native fix which can be done easly by a short code that reverse letters.
  2. I have my own personal grievances towards Serif and so I am voicing this dissatisfaction by NOT upgrading or buying V2 and simply continue to use V1 Publisher. We can only remain positive and hopeful that V3 will support RTL and the much needed Indic languages. :-)
  3. Maybe in V3 IDK, We can work with free solutions until next updates. I'm working with that website I share on my video for a simple reason which is I don't like extras softwares so I don't trust them. I wish to see serif add a simple box that reverse text somehow for RTL users I will appreciate it because it something necessary
  4. @Sam Neil, Thank you for this tip. I downloaded and tried pasting into my V1 Publisher and it works. No need to use glyphs to individually enter for my preschool level learning of Farsi. Farsi language uses the Arabic alphabets and RTL writing system.
  5. No We don't need them, It's okay if you need them by yourself but why we pay extra money for something like RTL apps? So my fix and workaround do the best and make my job done so why pay more! If I can get it and evey thing that I need others can't right? My self I like Serif software and I believe that they do thier best for the community, No subscription, and constant updates.... Thank you Mr Walt for you point of view I really appreciate it. Best regards
  6. Im still looking because I spent my time looking for solution as soon as I find more I will share instantly RTL Fixer its a paid sotware wht we dont have same thing as I show integrated in Affinity softwares why we need 3th party apps ?? Thank you so much Mr mike We will appreciate that and will save us time. wishing you all the best ♥
  7. Serif has stated multiple times here that RTL support is required vigorous reworking and intervention in text processing. So I wouldn't bet much on the speed of implementation.
  8. Also not an insider, but I'm inclined to believe Serif is regretting how some things were initially written into the programs, otherwise RTL would've maybe at least been in the oven by now. We were told it would be quite a bit before it's added in. This admission already came due to many users like yourself, @mehdy, had noticed it was still missing in V2. So you are definitely not alone as many others have also requested this feature. In Twitter, they have said it would require a rewrite of the text engine, but we don't know the details other than it would take a "long time". They have mentioned they are working on adding in scripting as well, an MSI installer and fixing a multitude of bugs, so we truly have no idea when any other features will be addressed.
  9. +1 for this feature request. RTL is essential and I really hope that Affinity will consider adding it to their line of products.
  10. Thanks! Odd, I searched the key words and only found the post about V1. Hope that Affinity will make RTL support happen in the close future.
  11. Try this: https://www.google.com/search?q=RTL+V2+site:forum.affinity.serif.com
  12. Hi @Reynard.zh Serif is a small software house and the resources available are rather limited. The development of input methods would slow down the elimination of bugs. Vertical text input and RTL are therefore ultra-low priority.
  13. Hello, I'd like to add that my international organization was seriously considering switching from Adobe to Affinity, but we have chosen not to since it lacks vertical and RTL writing support. We are going to watch and wait until you get these features. I agree with others here. If Serif starts to offer those features, it will suddenly have markets of millions of people ready to pour money into their products, because there is a need that isn't getting filled. It seems like a business no-brainer, even if it causes some difficulty for the coders, it will pay for itself.
  14. No. Serif have said that providing RTL and vertical support is a major effort that will require a major rewrite of the text layout code. There was no reason to purchase it to find out, by the way. There is a free trial. And if it were provided it would be listed in the Affinity Store as a new feature.
  15. I commented on page one of this thread and only now came back. In the meantime, I was out there doing real work, some of which involved teaching Affinity products. In the interim I updated to version 2, despite the fact Publisher is lagging quite severely behind the other components. I have just read several posts saying that Publisher works just fine and is "missing nothing" from Adobe's products. Such comments are simply the product of ignorance. Perhaps it's worth repeating the missing features, so that people joining the thread more recently can learn. No spreads of 3+ pages. This is a problem I encounter on day two of teaching first year design. Day two. It's not an advanced feature at all, but rather a requirement for covers with spines, flyers, and many other types of publications. No informal spreads, which allow temporary reorganisation for side-to-side comparison. No scripting, which strictly limits automation, making Publisher unsuitable for complex documents. No conditional text or objects. Ditto. No regular expression search/replace. Ditto. No global layers. The current layer implementation works on a page-by-page basis which is unsuitable for many use cases. No Markdown import, IDML export, ePub export, etc. which seriously limits inter-operability in professional workflows. No cross-references for story text, only indices. No vertical text or RTL (right-to-left) text. No typeface sets, which helps organise resources across project pools. On the plus side, we did get these features: Footnote / endnote support. Ability to compile documents as a Book. Not all of these features are equally important, but this list should at least demonstrate the gap between Affinity Publisher and the competition. There's far more room for improvement in this application than the rest of the suite. But I suppose that DTP is less glamorous and has a smaller user base. So perhaps we will never have a competitor for Adobe?
  16. I've been installing and uninstalling the designer since Affinity started their company and they still neglect the RTL and international Fonts. What I'm getting for the money I will pay is easily done by InkScape for free. We want to give them our hard earned money, and they seem no to care. The Designer still lacks in features and they are very slow at implementing them.
  17. I'm surprised it is still not implemented in V2, considering that a third of the world population uses RTL.
  18. Hi @monsef and welcome! Unfortunately none of the Affinity programs supports right-to-left typography, although there are plenty of requests for it in these forums, not just for Arabic but for other RTL languages as well. I believe it may be possible to copy and paste text from applications that do support it, but that this introduces issues with indentation, flow etc.
  19. CJK and RTL text support is such a glaring problem for Publisher as a corporate in an international environment, and of course a huge problem for many users. While it is obviously a big change that will require significant rewriting of their text and layout engine, I would really urge Serif to tackle that project and not just leave it as a glaring lump of technical debt at the heart of their apps. I really think it is significant enough that it should be on the radar for the v2 timeframe.
  20. Hi Hess and welcome to the forum. Sorry, Serif has not provided any indication on whether or when RTL support may be added. It's a frequently asked question.
  21. Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. This is a long-standing request (and more suitable for the Feedback forum, so perhaps a Moderator will move it). Serif have said that it is a major effort that will not happen for a long time, though it is something they would like to do someday. You can do a forum search for Arabic or RTL and find many discussions about this.
  22. I remain hopeful and positive, but based on the development cycle of Affinity Suite of Applications (Designer, Photo, and Publisher), I am not holding my breath. Here is to hoping that Serif puts Indic and RTL languages on their internal product development roadmap for version 3. Until that day arrives, I will vote with wallet and not upgrade to Publisher 2.X or to the full Suite of Applications.
  23. Regrettably - RTL is still not supported in V2 - in the meantime you can use this free and nifty software: https://leomoon.com/downloads/desktop-apps/leomoon-parsinegar/
