  1. With the new funds as resources, does this mean people like me who are interested in RTL Languages will be more of a strong reality in the very soon future as opposed to the usual Serif replies of "having to reprogram from the grounds up because RTL language support" is a complex process? They missed out a huge opportunity to potentially capture the market share in India, Arabic Diaspora, Hebrew, and East Asian (Mandation, Japanese, Etc). Regardless of this news, can we also remember the company's kindness and understanding during the pandemic? Serif for the longest time discounted their softwares to 50%. Does anyone remember this? I have privately expressed my grievances towards Affinity and I refuse to upgrade to any of their software until they include the RTL Languages. For my needs, Publisher 1.X has served me well and will continue to do so. I am a current Adobe CC Photography Plan member and also continue to be perpetual license holder of Capture one 16.3.X. Their Black Friday deal of 50% off the perpetual license was too good to pass up! These fees (to me) are cost of doing business and I'll simply adjust my fees accordingly. Can we be little bit more optimistic and hopeful?!
  2. Right to left rendering would be lovely for Middle Eastern scripts and Arabic/Hebrew rendering - something I’ve used a lot of in another application that has changed its financial plan recently forcing me away. Currently no ligatures function, and the text renders the wrong way around.
  3. I agree with everyone here. Is it so hard to add support for those languages? I am sure people would start choosing Affinity over other design apps because they are really affordable and good design softwares but its really hard to have to create images of Hebrew text to be able to create the designs in this language. This is very annoying and I also asked for a refund even so I wanted to buy the bundle. Is Affinity even paying attention to these posts at all?
  4. I know this is a bit obscure, but I would appreciate it if when searching text, that ligatures like œ and æ show results as if they were oe and ae (and visa versa). I suppose there could be options so if I really only want the results that have the actual ligature, then that could be possible, but I think in most cases when searching I'd want all the results. Maybe color the ligature differently in the search results if it wouldn't have been found in a straight search. I'm sure there are some other similar ligatures, especially if you start looking at other languages and alphabets. I can think of a few in Hebrew, but as Affinity doesn't yet support RTL languages, I guess that's a moot point.
  5. hebrew english. I downloaded the dictionary from GitHub, and changed on windows to English united states also and @stokerg's directions but did not work.
  6. RTL text is a line composing convention, not a font format. If Serif wants Affinity Designer to be used by a lot more people globally they'll need to support Hebrew, Arabic, Urdu and other scripts. Let's not forget about vertical text used in nations like Japan. But that's a different matter than support of font formats. Variable fonts are not going away. The OTF Variable format is already far more successful than the Type 1 Multiple Master and TrueType GX formats from the 1990's. I use variable fonts frequently in my design work. Whenever I'm considering to buy a new typeface package I'll check to see if it includes any variable fonts as well as how many variable axes it includes. It's just as much a selling point as a typeface having an expanded character set with lots of OpenType features.
  7. Just thought I'de try Designer 2 and came across a bit of a problem straight away... In the Glyph Browser window (having installed a Hebrew font I'm working on) I noticed just how small the fonts looked (it was set on the largest viewing size), so small in fact, that I found it difficult to distinguish which letter was which. Is there no way to make these larger? This is a reason not to go to Designer and stay with Illustrator (which has problems of its own!)
  8. Its unfortunate Maryam Ismaeel that Affinity, so far, does not support any right to left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu etc) . I purchased Affinity 2 - the latest version - in the hope that right to left will be included in that, eventually. Fingers crossed it will come Inshallah
  9. In v. 2.1 (and before) of Designer when I bring in text (Hebrew in this case) that was run around a circle it breaks all of the words apart; would be nice if I didn't have to recreate this sort of thing all again.
  10. the word you're looking for is ligature based scripts. Ligature and cursive based scripts are different. That said, Hebrew isn't even that. Regardless, myself and millions of people use RTL scripts it all the time, and as far as ligature scripts go, it's a common component of Latin and Cyrillic scripts too. it even works here: یہ لے بھایٔ بکش دہ مجھے It's a basic feature. That you don't use it or it looks complicated to you has no bearing on that.
  11. It's ridiculous to me that something as basic as right to left text isn't a built in feature. Even a basic notepad can handle right to left text. I found this plugin that seems to fix it, I expect by converting RTL text to unicode. Affinity Designer and Publisher is unusable for Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, Punjabi, Sindhi, Azeri and Hebrew because they are all RTL scripts. It collectively excludes a billion people. It's a massive oversight.
  12. Hi Dan C I confirm some font about this problem. I do not use Adobe CC Fonts on my i pad. Many fonts have this problem,I tell you following example. American typewriter, Apple symbols, Arial Hebrew, Baskerville, Gill sans, Copperplate, and almost Japanese Fonts. I`m looking forward to resolve the problem! Thank you.
  13. In this video I share with you how to fix RTL on Affinity Designer but its work Publisher and Photo as well, Free Fix Download Link: https://leomoon.com/downloads/desktop-apps/leomoon-parsinegar/ Enjoy!
  14. @mehdy, Salam! I also support you for wanting Serif to have added RTL language support and major Indic languages from the Indian subcontinent. Correct me if I am wrong, but I read something that an OLDER now deprecated software from Serif support RTL, but their newer coded from the grounds up Affinity do not. This is like a "kick in the stomach" sort of feeling. Anyways...yeah. Serif made a HUGE mistake, because of all the potential customers in Arabic-speaking countries, Hebrew-speaking people, and the many Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam speakers of India as potential customers.
  15. Hi everyone, Just signed up for the forum after purchasing the Affinity V2 Universal License. I asked this question in a private message with Affinity support, and it was also asked in the Affinity V1 section in this forum but seems that no-one has asked this for V2. Hence, I'm raising this up here as well so this won't be forgotten: It would be great if Right-to-Left (RTL) text writing support will be added to the Affinity products for both desktop and iPad versions. I'm aware that this may be difficult to implement, yet this is an essential feature for RTL users. The competitor Adobe has RTL support but as you all know the mandatory subscription plan is why we're here, and so RTL users would love to see this important feature implement. Thanks! I would like I to take advantage of this opportunity to thank Affinity for developing such great products, making it much affordable (and reasonable) for those who still believe and prefer a one-time-purchase permanent license per version, which the competitor Adobe doesn't offer anymore. Also, I would like to thank the community here for their feedback to making the Affinity products even better. Personally, I would love to see Affinity products line grow to include even more products, such as video and audio editing, so eventually combine an entire production software in one suite, just like the Adobe Master Collection.
  16. I like the overall interface improvements and the new features for desktop and iPad but stills lacks that is very much needed. Interface settings The ability to adjust the size of the text and interface element with a slider instead of just a button Support for Arabic, Hebrew, Kurdish, Russian, Persian and Hindi languages (In all Apps), and every languaue in the world 1. Affinity Designer: A. Image tracing - the ability to make a sketch into vector curves and shapes. This is in Illustrator, Vectornator and Inkscape B. Blend tool like that of illustrator C . The ability to to simplify a path multiple times (with a threshold or something) without affecting the shape of the path D. Text tool (in all apps) - Right to left, up to down and even typing text in a diagonal position easily IPad: Command controller does not stay in a position where you move it to when I exit a document E. Bring back to trash can to the bottom left of the tool bar on iPad. I do notice it on the context toolbar sometimes but only when the node tool is selected and the nodes are selected, and it gets hidden. F. Real vector brushes not png or bitmap on a curve G. Import and Export of AI files 2. Affinity Photo (I use photo for digital painting and Image manipulation, I tried Art Studio Pro(desktop) and Clip studio paint but feel most comfortable with Affinity Photo) A. The ability to lock transparency/alpha with just one layer not all layers B. (In all Apps on Desktop) Brush names instead of having to hover over the brush to see the name 3. Affinity Publisher: (don't use that much) A. More templates and the ability to import our own more easily
  17. After years of begging, and multiple posts and negatives reviews, Serif insists on denying support for Arabic/Hebrew writing. Every release you tell me that the feature is coming, and it is on your roadmap. Kindly, I would like to ask for a refund for my V2 purchases as I am reaching a dead-end with this. I am sticking to Adobe Suite even though it is not free just to use this writing. Thank you for continuous efforts to disappointment. Gmail - Arabic and RTL Support.pdf
  18. Create a new document, add frame text tool, type "Hebrew" in the Font Family field and it crashes. Windows version.
  19. Will RTL languages (ever) be supported by Affinity V2? I ask because the need for Hebrew support is the only thing keeping me tethered to the Adobe ecosystem (and from which I would very much like to be free).
  20. Greetings, it seems the RTL text support is missing for Hebrew and Arabic languages when using Text Tool The letters are in reverse order LTR, can this please be fixed ?
  21. As someone who is learning Hindi Devanagari (reading and writing), I will happily take the support of Indic LTR support in V2, which should also include suppose for Dravidian-based languages of South India: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, etc. The Devanagari script is used by Hindi, Marathi, and Nepali. I had a good chuckle perusing how much that thread was derailed and went off topic. It's entertainment to kill time until V2 is officially announced. Maybe in V3, there will support for RTL for Farsi, Urdu, Arabic, Hebrew, and several scripts used in China.
  22. In photo, I just made a pretty useful (raster) calligraphy pen in 5 minutes for an upcoming project. I made a 4 px wide x 65 pixel tall selection, filled it with black, and saved the "selection only" as a png. Then in the brush panel I opened up "new image brush" and selected the png. In the brush attributes I set the spacing to 1%, the rotation to 6% and the size jitter to 43% pressure. It worked great! You can play with the rotation to fit your needs. I'm not a calligrapher by any means, but I do need to do some "Hebrew style" calligraphy in an upcoming project. After a little practice, I think this brush will work ok.
  23. Should be a matter of using a hebrew capable font and support for those too! WordItOut Python based tools can for sure (if used in the right manner), see therefor ... create wordcloud in python for foreign language (Hebrew) Python wordcloud can't present Hebrew
  24. for now it's seems too complicated but i will try again tomorrow thomaso v_kyr. i've tried all the tools except for the github one with no success. most of them don't allow hebrew. and those that do make a mess. i've tried the options but still. i will try them again tommorrow thank you! edit... eventually succeeded with https://www.jasondavies.com/wordcloud/
