  1. I have had Affinity Photo since 2021 and the current version I have is 1.10.5. I am running it on a Mac Mini on Catalina 10.15.7. As of the last few days I am not able to close or quit or force quit Affinity Photo. I would like to keep using it even if I had to delete it and download it again, but it's at the point where I can't even restart or shut down the mac because Affinity Photo will not quit. I attempted to trash it but got a message that it was "open" meanwhile attempting to open it or open a photo with it gives the message "not responding". Please advise!
  2. I never even for one second though you were! 😁 But I am curious about one thing: was your screenshot from a Finder window or the Open or Place menu item in Affinity? If the latter, I guess this is something Apple added in Big Sur that is not available in Catalina....
  3. That 4th one is Gallery view, at least that’s what it is in Catalina. You get a big thumbnail in the main area of the Finder window of a selected file or Folder with smaller scrollable thumbnails along the bottom of the window of all other files/Folders in the same folder. Its also possibly worth adding, for those new to Mac and Finder, that Finder windows and their content can be customised in several places within the OS Finder > Preferences Finder > View, where there is a long list of options. One of which is ‘Show View Options’ which brings up a sort of mini additional "Preferences" window for how content is displayed in Finder windows. System Preferences > General
  4. I guess they changed it for macOS 11 (or maybe earlier) but on Catalina when set to list view there is a 4 line button icon that opens a submenu. From your screenshot, it looks like for you on V11, the equivalent is the 4 View icons, with the 1st one being icon view, 2nd one being list view & the 3rd one being the Columns view. Not sure what the 4th view is. Maybe a tooltip will tell you more about that?
  5. It is the shortcut in the Apple Photos app for Image > Edit With > Last Used Application. For me, that is usually AP & it works fine on my Mac running Catalina.
  6. Hello there Affinity forum! I was getting crazy with this issue since I got Monterey on a M1 max in november, because it made Final Cut kinda unusable, even more because I am used since many years to use hot corners for sleep and display stop. After months getting crazy and dodging the issue using final cut on my other mac, i had to upgrade to monterey after a drive failure and totally freaked out for days about this damn mouse pointer thing. After spending a few days (nights) googling around, i found similar reports about Affinity Photo.. and then, ..a wild reddit user appeared! ..and brought a solution! (please see the attached image for details in case it's not straightforward) On System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Zoom disable "use scroll gesture to modify zoom" Extra note: I can see @Iulian Onofrei's post right before mine saying it didn't fix for him, but i would advice to everyone to give a chance to this solutions since it worked for me, and it worked both on a iMac late 2015 (iMac17,1, obviously intel) and on M1 Max (MacBookPro18,4) so there are a few things I'm pretty sure about: – this is somehow definitely related to the OS version (it didn't happen on Catalina, same mac, same everything, and begun happening constantly after upgrading to Monterey) and it's definitely not related to: – arch – video cards – input device (mouse / trackpad) It's very likely not related to apps and apps versions (for me, it was happening on different versions of Final Cut), so I'd bet that this is not caused by and so can't fixed by app developers (except someone finds the culprit and workaround the issue in the app code) One more detail for @Iulian Onofrei again: another user reported to have this fixed cleaning chrome from his mac (not a word about zoom/accessibility in that case), so maybe it can happen on various conditions.. I'm linking all the "sources" for this here so maybe others can finally workaround this: – first, weeks ago, i found this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253818555 this didn't fix for me, but actually (weeird 😮) it happened a lot less than before, and for less time (in short: before cleaning all the google software update keystone crap stuff i definitely had to wait more seconds to "unstuck" the mouse from the left-bottom corner, after cleaning google* apparently the pointer it was not *stuck* anymore on the corner, but just jumping there. Again, weird.. but I dont' have a better explanation for this. – earlier today, i found the same post linked by Iulian in his post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253546872 – this is the "original fix" linked in that apple forum thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/oydvbj/comment/hqu4445 and i think it's a good idea to have it around in case something new comes out for me, removing chrome and unticking the syspref/accessibility option for zoom apparently fixed (and don't dare to enable the zoom keyboard shortcut on that same options panel, it will cause the same problem, and seeing this behaviour it's hard to think it's just a coincidence.. 😃 actually I tested this more on final cut than affinity (actually because in final cut for me this happens kinda always on app open/close, so it was easier to track), after changing the zoom setting, as of now, no more mouse issues here. Hoping this helps! 👾
  7. I just installed. Mac OS 13 I think called Ventura 13.0. When I try to take a Document created using OS13 in Publisher and Export it as a PNG or PDF the program crashes and quits. I take the same file to a computer running Catalina OS12 and it works fine. Also the same thing happens in Photo.
  8. Very strange this... I've tried the same image on a much older machine, and there the export works okay (same Affinity Photo version, but Catalina 10.15.7 on a 2012 machine).
  9. Also works for me running macOS Catalina, copying & pasting either a JPEG or PNG.
  10. Hi @km.au, Thanks for your report! I can confirm our team are aware of slow loading times for the Affinity apps currently, due to a change in the way Apple security scan their apps in Catalina onwards: We hope to have this addressed I'm a future update, I hope this clears things up
  11. You haven't explicitly stated that you do not have iCloud off. The Mac OSes have some very tight integration with iCloud and files on the desktop may be set to be stored in the cloud. I am unfamiliar with Catalina OS but here on OS 11.6.8 I check my cloud settings often to be sure nothing is going there other than the email for Mail and my Contacts. This is what my settings in the system preferences look like, hit Options... if iCloud Drive is checked. then untick the desktop after clicking Documents.
  12. Thanks for your reply. Sorry I didn’t mention this before but I am working on macOS. The version I used on that particular machine was Catalina, in case that plays a role. I’m not expecting the system to modify any files on my desktop folder. If Windows does that, I find that outright creepy :{ I didn’t have any corrupted files with Affinity Photo on my home machine yet (M1 running macOS 12.5.1), so Catalina might be part of the problem.
  13. I am not sure if this works in later macOS versions but in Catalina (& most earlier versions?) this article explains how to set Finder to always display the user's Library folder. Also, after first setting this on an older macOS version, I see these keyboard shortcuts in the Finder Go menu, but I am not sure what I might have had to do to get that shortcut for the user Library folder. All that aside, I definitely see multiple files with the .affshortcuts extension in my user account's Library folder, one for each Affinity app I have installed on my Mac.
  14. Comparing some of the screenshots others have posted vs. what I see on my Mac running Catalina, I think "Serif Defaults" is the same thing that for me is labelled simply "Reset," the button between "Apple Defaults" & "Clear All Shortcuts." before trying it (if you have not already) I suggest using the "Save" button to save the shortcuts you have now, just in case you need to reload them later.
  15. That one does not seem to apply to my Mac because as I said, I have not had that activated for at least a year & when I activated it yesterday & today as a test, "Recents" still shows items over this & the last several months. Nor can I. It could be useful if it did list all recently opened files, including those opened in Affinity & other non-Apple aps, & ideally only those opened over the last few months (at most) but as it is, it seems close to useless for anyone that uses non-Apple apps regularly. So I think for most of us the best thing to do is just disable it in Finder prefs. It is easy (enough) to create your own saved searches (a.k.a. "Smart Folders" in Apple-speak) for this sort of thing, tailored to include/exclude whatever you want, & optionally add them to the sidebar. For more about this, search the web on "macOS Smart Folders or "macOS Saved searches." For example, https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/narrow-search-results-mh15155/10.15/mac/10.15 is Apple's entry for Catalina. Another good one is https://www.idownloadblog.com/2019/09/12/finder-search-tips-mac/
  16. In English, it is called "Recents" & for me on Catalina displays a long list (700+!) of files of diverse types that I (presumably) have opened over about the last nearly 3 (!!) years. Weirdly, none of them are Affinity files, which are the ones I have opened the most in recent times. For this reason, I never normally have this option enabled on the sidebar. For me, in English it is a "Raw Query" & the query string is (kMDItemLastUsedDate = "*") &&. I think "LastUsedDate" is the same as Finder's "Date Last Opened" column but I can't figure out why it does not show any Affinity format files.
  17. This is odd -- I have Adobe Acrobat Pro X as part of CS6 Master Suite and it works perfectly fine on Windows 11, without any tricks (repeated reinstallations), permanently, no need for reactivations, etc., along with Adobe Acrobat 2020 installed on the same computer. I also have CC apps and Adobe Express apps installed on the same computer: I have pretty much the same configuration on a Windows 10 Pro computer, so Adobe Acrobat Pro X is definitely not incompatible with Windows 10, and I do not think that this has been issue in this long thread: it is rather the fact that 32-bit Adobe apps cannot be run on macOS, not since Catalina. But on Windows there should be no issues in running any CS6-based apps -- Adobe will reset your installation count so that proper activation is possible, but you need to be in touch with their support to have that (I did it a few months ago and it is a matter of couple of minutes with chat connection). In light of that, I do not expect Adobe Acrobat 2020 (as a 64-bit app) becoming incompatible on Windows in any foreseeable future (if ever). On macOS this is a valid worry, since who knows how long Intel-based apps can be run on Silicon macs.
  18. I've opened .ORF files on my iMac (Catalina) Here is a sample file sample1.orf Can you open this?
  19. I have had to reinstall an older Mac OS (Catalina 10.15.7) and with it Publisher (1.10.5). But now, 3 browsers later I am still getting the same message: My Terminal is throwing up this: Last login: Thu Aug 11 09:22:38 on console ga@Graemes-Mac-mini ~ % spctl --assess -vv /Applications/Affinity\ Publisher.app /Applications/Affinity Publisher.app: invalid signature (code or signature have been modified)
  20. Hi, I am running a MacBook Pro using the latest "Catalina Version 10.15.7" and when I am applying the "Unsharp Mask" to sharpen an image, the image goes sharp WHILE THE MASK IS BEING APPLIED, "however" once the mask is finished "BEING APPLIED" it "does not apply to the image, it stays being unsharpened!!!!! Can anyone advise please????
  21. Hello! I install Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina and download Affinity Designer, on 10.13.6 all work great, but on 10.15.7 is error. How could solve this error? 22. It still does not work for me on my Mac running Catalina & the latest AP build. 90% of the time, the plugins item does not appear at all but even when it does & I assign a keyboard shortcut to any of the plugins (not just the Google NIK collection ones) the shortcut still does not actually work, just producing a system beep. IOW, still very, very buggy, as far as I can tell.
  23. Same for me running macOS Catalina. After choosing File > Open does a Finder-like window open, even if there are no files shown in it?
  24. Hi Lee I've exported something from the Assets hamburger menu. It's hard to tell what is being exported, so you may have all my assets! Thanks for looking into it. I am using AD 1.10.5 on Mac OS Catalina V 10.15.7, Late 2012 iMac 27" Cheers Chris
