Help and Localisation improvements Changes and fixes in 1.9 made since 1.8.x (including the new 1.9 features) are listed in some detail in this 1.9.0 Designer macOS update announcement UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Designer > About). If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available. If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Designer for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac App Store purchases and needs a product key).
  2. Hi everyone! After an update to 1.9.2. Affinity Photo doesn't start any more. Version 1.9.0. was running fine on the Win 7 desktop. Any idea? Frank
  3. Obviously I had posted this recent topic in the APub Beta forum too late for v.1.9.2. In addition to its notes, screenshots and video here just one more, now taken in v.1.9.2. At the end it shows issues with value fields. They don't get activated via click on their label text and the arrow up/down keyboard keys work only 1x but move the selected layout object instead on further arrow key use. v192 Text Frame Panel size & behavior.m4v
  4. I've had this issue ever since updating to the newest version 1.9 (currently running 1.9.2.1035). Right now the document is only 75 pages and the crashes are occuring very frequently, but sometimes my documents can be up to 200-300 pages so I can imagine this may get even worse. I've experienced crashes in the past as my documents get larger, but since updating to 1.9 this is happening 5-10 times a day, and since we don't have an auto-save feature recovery files are not always reliable and I've lost my work several times. The actual bug causing a crash occurs when I hold the arrow keys right or left to scan through my text, or hold Shift+arrow key to highlight text. It's the most mindless function, as I'll click forward or backward to change something and then hold the arrow key to move back to where I was and then everything freezes up. I've dealt with having to save frequently and I backup my work frequently, but this is sort of ridiculous at this point. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it caused by my machine not being powerful enough to handle 1.9? I never had series issues before updating. Thanks!

  7. I had been working on a project in Designer for a few hours. I placed an SVG image that I had exported from Adobe Capture so I could modify it for my use. After importing, I solo'd the placed image, then selected some of the layers and grouped. I duplicated the group, then selected the objects on the duplicated layer, and then an ADD operation. After the ADD operation completed, I went to select the other layer. Designer froze for approximately 30 seconds and then crashed. When I reopened AD, I navigated to the project, and AD says "Loading Failed, Unable to load document". Is there a way to recover this document? Its really frustrating that AD doesn't persist projects automatically into Files or other location that is backed up on the iPad such that files could be recovered from a backup.
  8. Latest release causes crashes when using various filters (sharpen, shadows/highlits, Brightness,...adjustment tools and zooming in and out. I can hardly use the tool anymore. I use the latest version of Windows home, also the latest drivers. Is there some advise from affinity what needs be tweaked in windows to run PHOTO with no crashes ? I run on a XPS 13 2in 1 of DELL. 8GB RAM 512 SSD. Is it possible to download the previous version, what is the procedure for this ? My MAC-Air using big sur version seems to run ok. Please advise.
  9. Hello, since I updated my Affinity Photo to version 1.9.2 I'm experiencing RAM issues - it just fills the RAM and then it's almost impossible to work. I'm using notebook with 8GB of RAM and I never experienced any issues with Affinity programs until now. I was able to have many applications including some games, video editing opened at the same time and Affinity programs were still working fine. But now with Affinity Photo 1.9.2 even if I close all other apps I'm struggling to work. I tried to uninstall and install older 1.8.5 version but then I cannot open files because last few hours I created a lot of new files using 1.9.2 which I need to continue working with. So please suggest what should I do (are there some new features in 1.9.2 I could turn off) ? Btw, upgrading RAM is not possible and IMO not needed since older versions were running without issues. Thanks, Hrvoje
  10. Hi All in my last release of Affinity Photo (1.9.2) on iPad Pro 2020, layers merge doesn’t work it works sometimes with one/two layers, but most of the times, not any suggestions? Regards Mauro
  11. Hi Dan, I'm having exactly same issue - I already tried reinstalling and renaming the file name. Everything was fine until I downloaded new version 1.9. Can you please help?
  12. I'm currently running Affinity Photo version 1.9.1.979 and see there is am update to 1.9.2.1035 When trying to update it on my 64 bit Windows 10 (version 20H2) machine either as an administrator, or not, and after a clean boot, or not, I get the message 'Setup failed'. The download file size is 528MB with digital signatures of sha1 and sha256. I have 16GB RAM installed. Any help will be appreciated. Regards Martin
  13. Merge visible gave a chequerboard effect, that was also there on export. OpenCl acceleration on. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER. Log.txt
  14. Affinity Designer Printing Bug After updating Affinity Designer from 1.9.1 yesterday to 1.9.2.1035 I noticed a major print scaling bug in the program. On print preview within Designer no red lines showed any overprinting errors. Long story short, items in Designer print out larger than set and thus get cropped out of print range on the right and lower edges. To be specific, I created a Letter document and populated it with an array of equally sized blocks for printing. Upon printing I noticed the right and bottom of the print were cutoff. After checking the document size settings, scaling, and any other print setting affecting items printing larger than specified, everything was at nominal values used in prior versions not suffering this bug. Workaround The workaround involved exporting the project as a PDF and print via Adobe Acrobat. Downgrading? I just tried to install the 1.9.1 version over the 1.9.2 and I get a "Setup failed" error. Is there any other way to downgrade other than uninstalling, reinstalling 1.9.1, and re-entering the registration keys? Is this bug known and being fixed? I couldn't find a similar bug for 1.9.2 on the forums so my guess is it's not been spotted yet. If the Affinity team is onto fixing this in the next day, then I may wait for the update while hobbling along on PDF exports for printing. Notes I've posted this on the 1.9.2 release thread (duplicate), but had second thoughts on the critical importance of this bug being overlooked there, so I created this topic in hopes to avoid this being overlooked.
  15. Are you using the latest release version? Yes: 1.9.2 Can you reproduce it? Yes: File -> New Astrophotography stack -> Click on "Bad Pixel Tool " -> Select "Reset" from Top toolbar Does it happen for a new document? If not do you have a document you can share that shows the problem? Yes, happens for new document. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: What is your operating system and version (Windows 10, OSX Mojave, iOS 12 etc)? MacOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 (20D91) What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) Was checking things out and it crashed consistently. Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). File -> New Astrophotography stack -> Click on "Bad Pixel Tool " -> click on "Reset" from Top toolbar -> (CRASH) Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. Attached Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers. No. Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware) Don't Know. Affinity_Photo.mp4
  16. Status: Beta Purpose: Fixes Requirements: Purchased Affinity Photo App Store: Not submitted Download link: Download Hello, We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the first build of Affinity Photo 1.9.2 for iOS. If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry. This beta is an incremental update to the 1.9.1 version recently released to all customers (although it still installs parallel to the released version, as described above). We recommend that you use this beta in preference to the store version if you are affected by any of the issues listed below. Affinity Photo Team Changes Since 1.9.1 - Added ability to organise LUT adjustment presets, including support for multiple categories and import / export as “.afluts” files. - Significant performance improvements for assets (import, export, organisation, etc.). - Hardware acceleration has been improved to better make use of Metal (specifically to batch commands together into chunks, which gives the driver a better chance to optimise commands and provides a higher degree of abortability). The benchmark has also been tweaked to use multiple command queues for the Single GPU test, which makes it more representative of “real world” use. - Added support for OpenType reverse chaining contextual single substitutions. - Added ability to optionally sort brush categories by name or date added. - Improved the appearance of the UI when adding a pattern layer. - Improved performance of export and merge visible, especially in documents with Live Filters. - Assorted content download improvements and fixes. - Restored ability to access the long press menu in the hand tool. - Minor improvements to Gaussian Blur performance when GPU is enabled. - Fixed stacking / merging issue when performing subsequent merges / stacks using different files with the same name. - Fixed crashes when previewing the export of extremely large bitmap files. - Fixed crashes when manually entering a radius in the lens blur tool. - Fixed issue whereby width and height fields were not available when performing an unconstrained crop. - Fixed crashes when attempting to create greyscale layers from a spare channel whilst editing it. - Fixed potential deadlock issue when loading large files. - Fixed assorted small registration page issues. - Fixed a bug where some Live Filters would appear to move after save / load. - Assorted other small fixes. - Help improvements, - Localisation improvements.
  17. Starting today, when I attempted to change the headline type of a text, the program froze and after that whenever I attempt to open any of my files, the UI is frozen. Anyone with a similar experience?
  18. AppStore MAS Installment: the MAS update under El Capitan here indicates for v.1.9.2 a 355 MB download. It starts the download of 355 MB and after that when it reaches the state to install, during installation, shortly before finishing installing it says "wait" and then reinitiates a new download of 708 MB. - So one always downloads 355 MB and then continously another additionally 708 MB here (aka 355 + 708 MB all in all)! - The same happens for the Photo installment. - BTW, I've seen this same behavior also previously for the v1.9.1 Mac AppStore updates! So the overall behavior here is always, MAS starts the update by downloading first a lower overall file size of 355MB and installs it. But shortly before finishing the 355 MB installment, it autoresets and reinitiates a new huger 708 MB download which it then installs! See this screencast showing the above said in short too ... screencast_install.mp4
  19. BigSur, Metal Computing enabled. Working with mix brush in latest beta constantly hangs Affinity Photo. Happens after awhile - but very fast most of the time // Hangs faster with bigger brushes. Sometimes hangs not on mix, but on scroll canvas (in high zoom) right after that Especially when pixel layer in group and there is live procedures enabled above it. Look at video - when drawing stops in the middle of video this is when "beach ball" on cursor is starting to spine (forever, MacOs video capture not capturing it). After that application hangs completely (you can see this in the end of video in application context menu ) Screen_Recording_2021-03-22_at_17_01_09.mov test.afphoto
  20. I'm getting an immediate crash when trying to open a multichannel EXR file. I have tried both version 1.10 (installed first) and then a remove and new install of version 1.9.2 I get the same error dialog on both versions The multichannel opens fine in Blackmagic Fusion and Photoshop. A single channel EXR opens fine in AP. Any suggestions for a resolution? Thanks
  21. PC, Windows 10 Pro, 32 GB memory, AMD5700 XT, LOTS of SSD storage I occasionally try using Affinity Photo for a focus stack or HDR. It rarely works. Typically, even for the simplest HDR - 3 images from a Nikon D850, I can add the images, tell it to deghost, and process. It churns for a while, then disappears. Nothing. No error, no popup, nothing. It very occasionally succeeds - maybe 1 time in 10 for HDR. I don't think it's ever worked for a focus stack, even a small one of 15 or 20 D850 images. Is there somewhere Affinity logs all it's processing so I have some clue why it consistently terminates? I've NEVER been able to turn on the hardware acceleration - not with the old GTX 970 OR with the new 5700 XT. The error popup doesn't make much sense: Windows 10 Pro matches, and it's had 21H1 installed... and the 5700XT should fit the "modern" GPU. Is there a reasonably simple way to find out what's going on?
  22. The problem has not yet been resolved in version 1006. Today (beta1006) tested: 3 Frames with the same linked Picture, after updating the Picture (TIF) outside of Publisher: 2 Frames empty, 1 Frame Picture Position is changed. Test 2: I create a new file, put 4 frames on different pages with the same linked picture, update the TIF resource and: ALL Frames are empty! 😩 I am currently working on a project with many linked images. All of them have to be edited again in Affinity Photo in the next few days ... I need a solution.
  23. Hi! In V1.9.1, I've just edited one picture and used my prepared adjustments settings (asset) containing a group and multiple sub groups. Drag and drop worked. I could see the result. Now I've updated to V1.9.2. The adjustment settings (drag&drop asset) do not work anymore. I have to ungroup, uncheck and re-check every single adjustment layer like in a few version before. This is odd.
