  1. Hello, Will I be able to work with Affinity photo on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 ? Thanks a lot for your answer. Olivier
  2. I accidentally tripped over what could be construed as the formatting incompatible with macOS 10.9. The browser exhibits this issue as well. The culprit is the zoom-in level at 2 stops past the default zoom level. The TOC sidebar menu gets oversized and, by doing so, obscures the main viewing area. So, when I click on chapter links, they do display the content. The article is behind the sidebar wall. None of the "Search", "Full-screen", and "Escape" controls work. To my knowledge, Apple changed the Help system framework with High Sierra (2017). Nonetheless, the 10.9 Help Viewer handles this newer standard (such as the iBook Author help pages) with remarkable resilience. On a side note, from the looks of it, Serif appears to employ an in-house custom built-in Help standard, and it shows.
  3. Hey, I am new to Affinity and was directed by Apple support team to reach out to you about your products. I have a iMac mid 2011 model that runs macOS High Sierra. I was curious to know if I buy your products will it be possible for the developers to provide an older version of Affinity Suite that supports macOS High Sierra. I do have an iPad pro that will work with Affinity if this is not possible. I can just work temporarily on the iPad Pro until I get a new computer, but I have two design projects next month so I would like to have something in place by then. Warmly, Christina
  4. You could not possibly have created the shortcuts on any version of AD 2 on a Mac running High Sierra (macOS 10.13) because as shown here, the minimum macOS version required to run V2 is Catalina (macOS 10.15).
  5. Hey, Not all the shortcuts are messed up, most of them work. I've created my shortcuts file on AD 2.40 & High Sierra & now I run AD 2.4.2 on Sonoma. When I reset shortcuts & start from scratch, I have the same issue. And I've deleted my AD 2.4.0 dmg so I can't try it on Sonoma. I have a weird stuff in OSX too, like if I try to use "go to folder " window from the finder, the enter key doesn't work....so maybe there is a deeper problem with the keyboard.
  6. Thanks walt.farrell and oufti for your replies. You gave lots of information, it will take more than 5 min. to digest it all. But first I'll have to finish a few flyers before the deadline kicks in, and to save time I'll ask my older IMac back (still on High Sierra) from the friend I lent it to. It has the older CS 6 suite installed but I won't connect the machine to the Internet and use it offline to stay safe. I'll write some replies to your posts and share my opinion when I have finished. P.S one last thing… I signaled two problems in fact, but one seems to have disappeared, I don't see it anymore (I'll come back to it later) Have a nice day, bolleboos
  7. Hello Affinity Photo Users, has anyone had this really odd behaviour when opening scans? As all things in life, I was going along fine and dandy scanning some CD artwork for Discogs, when I get this really odd shift colour. Any ideas? Using an iMac, High Sierra, Canon is a Pixma MG5, using inbuilt Image Capture on iMac. Latest Affinity app, 1.8.6 regards Bryan
  8. There’s no need for guesswork. If you already own version 1 of Affinity Photo you can run it on macOS High Sierra, but it’s no longer available for purchase.
  9. Hi Will I first wrote this question a couple of versions ago. I haven't bought V2 only because my mac OS is 10.13.6 High Sierra. ( I keep this because of other programs which I use become subscription with the next upgrade) Anyway does V2 of AfPub have the ability to move pages with a dialogue box as Indesign does. I sincerely hope so because the suggested option is very very tiresome. I look forward to an answere whenever you have time. ps I looked at several of the videos of the V2 and couldn't find any which addressed the moving page options. Or any questions I could ask.......
  10. I just purchased Affinity software for my older iMac (Mid 2010, with High Sierra, Version 10.13.6). I can not upload to Catalina 10.15 - Apple articles are saying this older computer of mine can not support the newer operating system. However, upon trying to open Affinity on my computer, a message is saying I need to be running an OS that is 10.15 or later. I'm stuck! Is there a slightly older Affinity Version I can download so I can use this software on my older Mac?
  11. I use a new brother scan & printer MFC-L2730DW connected in a network UTP (mostly Mac (5) and 1 Pc Windows 10 pro) 1 Mac (Mac mini 2012 macOS High Sierra ) is also connected to the printer with USB.. brother has told me on the phone that the specific scan/printer MFC-L2730DW can only hardware scan up to 600dpi and software up to 1200dpi.. Im a beta tester of Affinity Photo2 using beta2. below are some video's of different scans. 3. scan Affinity photo2 600dpi 4. scan - Affinity Photo2 beta2 600dpi 5. scan - brother iPrint&Scan 1200dpi (preferred by Brother) these scans are done on an iMac 24 - inch M1 2021 the scans are totally f*cked up...... (except the one done with iPrint&Scan) (come on programmers, do something about this?) see for yourself. let me know what you think? 3. scan Affinity photo2 600dpi.mp4 4. scan - Affinity Photo2 beta2 600dpi.mp4 5. scan - brother iPrint&Scan 1200dpi.mp4
  12. Hi all, Does anyone experience the lag with brush stroke after deleting a previous stroke? What I'm experiencing is the stroke becomes really laggy after I delete latest stroke I make. But if I leave the stroke which lagged on (not deleting it) the stroke becomes normal again. Now I noticed the lag happen after I have many many strokes (under 100 strokes) on the artboard and the bigger the brush size the heavier the lag. I noticed this lag in previous AD 1.9.3 version as well. Any solutions on that? ps: running High Sierra Mac OS on MacPro 2010 machine.
Merci d'avance
  14. Hi, I am thinking about buying an Affinity V2 Universal License. Therefore I am wondering whether I can use this license with operating system macOS high sierra version 10.13.6. Does anyone know if this these two are compatible? Thank you in advance for any response.
  15. Hi. I'm a new member and not that familiar with Affinity Photo. I operate on a Mac with High Sierra OS. My Affinity Photo is V1. I am trying to make a selection from one image and then place it onto another image (to me this is a basic task for photo editing software). I can make the selection okay, and save it to file, but it saves it as a AFselection. If I then try to retrieve this to place on my 2nd image, it won't let me as the accept button is greyed out. I am getting so frustrated with this software - I previously used Paintshop Pro on a PC with no problem. Any help would be really appreciated.
  16. They have to check if the metadata from their generated files is setup and read correctly under macOS and why their files acctually aren't shown up in the Finder's recent list. Other than that, what people can try out on their own is, trying to customize certain spotlight search queries for own created Smart Folders. - See therefor for example ... How to create Spotlight searches to store as Smart Folders in macOS Sierra Apple - File Metadata Query Expression Syntax How to use Spotlight’s query language to create an All My Files-like feature What happened to the ‘All My Files’ feature in macOS High Sierra? ... etc.
  17. Fortunately, Upscayl works on mine, but I had to upgrade to Ventura because many of the business sites I deal with would no longer let me log in using High Sierra. It got to the point where my bank kept warning me that my older version of Safari was no longer supported and would not let me login for security reasons. That's just the nature of our current computerized society. The manufacturers push the latest gadgets and gizmos. I only upgrade if I have to in order to do my work.
  18. Hi My IiMac is getting old and still runs High Sierra 10.13.6 IOS. Does anyone know how much longer will Affinity Photo support this operating system? (Photoshop and Lightroom no longer provide updates compatible with this Mac IOS so I was being left behind). I note that the latest versions of Mac IOS are featured in the new Affinity Photo 1.10.6 upgrade. Many thanks RoyN
  19. When i launch a completely new downloaded trial of Affinity Photo (as of 15 nov 20121) the app icon jumps twice in the dock and then disappears, opening an error message "Affinity Photo unexpectedly Quit" This happens every time i try, and everything else is working, the mac iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB High Sierra macos 10.13.6 (17G14042)
  20. I just bought this program about 3 weeks ago and I am very frustrated and disappointed there's no more menu that displays and you can only open a blank page but do nothing with it I want my money back this is a total waste of time and money!! I would not recommend this software to nobody " I reinstall and still not functioning Make sure this app work correctly before putting on the net! Angry and frustated user
  21. but sometime i need it, when i work in PC with upgraded version (v2) and old macbook (high sierra os) which v2 not supported. For me, its ok if they cut some effects or styles when save as old v1, but at least i can open my work at my old mac (cannot upgrade the os). But still i love V2..
  22. @loukash & @thomaso: I tried to make my example as simple as possible to avoid misunderstandings. But I got one anyway. LOL. That is, to ask my simple question, about duplication on the same pixel layer, I didn't feel it necessary to explain the actual situation; but I might as well now. I'm working on a file that contains a pixel layer which, on its own, contains scores of hand-drawn icons and hundreds of hand-printed words, which I'm editing. Occasionally I see a short-cut where I could clone something from one place (like a single letter) and use it in another place if I modify it slightly. Other drawing programs I've used in the past, at least four of them, have allowed that in bitmap files. I assumed AD1 would also. But the two of you, as part of your (to me) somewhat mind-bending experts' discussion, have, I've decided, confirmed that AD1 doesn't allow this. And so—unlike the 'flip horizontal' and 'flip vertical' features, which are undocumented but which I found by searching the Internet to in fact exist (in AD1!) via a slick trick—I will accept that I cannot clone within the same layer, since you say so. 🙂 @loukash My aversion to extra layers might seem nonsensical to you, but consider: In this file I have not only that large main pixel layer, but, if I open all my groups, hundreds of other supporting vector and/or pixel and/or image objects in several layers. And so I didn't want to add new objects for clones of small pixel areas if I could avoid it. I projected this would add to what is already a complex management problem. I do thank you both for the information, to the degree that I understood it. It's good to know that it's fixed in AD2. Maybe someday I'll get past High Sierra and get to use it. 🙂 L&R
  23. Hi and welcome! Well I assume you bought V2 apps which do need >= MacOS Catalina, in contrast to V1 apps (which are probably no longer sold by Serif) which should have run fine under MacOS High Sierra. Beside what above was already said, there's also the adventures way of installing MacOS Catalina on older MacOS hardware, but doing so depends overall on your MacOS user skills. Meaning here, if you aren't much knowledged with MacOS Software installs ... etc. you probably would need somebody to help you here, or let it be. https://dosdude1.com/catalina/ How to run Catalina on an older Mac (see down the article page, they also talk and give hints about Catalina) The MacOS Catalina Patcher supports ... In cases you will try that, then make first whole backups of your current MacOS High Sierra and also build some High Sierra Bootable recovery USB-Stick in order to reinstall your actual High Sierra setup/image.
