  1. Hi - like lots of other hipsters, I've been taking film back up and "scanning" the negatives with a digital camera. There are a few things that would make life nicer for this workflow: - B&W negs - I usually go with JPEG when doing mass conversions just to save space, but obviously that means 8-bit RGB out of the camera. My goal is to maximize bit depth (16-bit grayscale, or even better - half (16-bit) float). To do so my batch input macro converts the doc to 16-bit gray, applies an inversion, then puts a levels adjustment layer on (because I'll almost certainly adding one immediately anyway). I bet there's a better way to do this, and I for one would welcome an in-built Affinity workflow. - Color negs - doing it by hand is really touchy, and very time-consuming. Most of us don't run LR which means no Neg Lab Pro for us, or at least not in AP. I've tried all the others, and they are BAD. Something right in AP would be AWESOME.
  2. I use levels a LOT. Using option-drag to show clipping is wonderful, but only works on the Master channel. Being able to also see clipping when the Red, Green, or Blue channels is selected would be even better.
  3. The problem isn’t the preview, it’s that the blur just doesn’t work. The checkerboard preview is actually helpful in letting the user know the tool won’t be doing anything. But of course it would be much nicer if the took actually worked. Glad to know it’s a known issue…hope it gets fixed soon.
  4. I discovered yesterday that the develop tab is not macro-recordable, so applying, say, "Remove Lens Vignette" isn't something I can automate for a batch of film neg scans. Is "Remove Lens Vignette" something that is available outside of the Develop tab? Also: are there best practices on maximizing bit depth for b&w neg scans taken with a dslr/mirrorless? Even RAW they come in as RGBA/32, so it seems to me that converting to Gray/16 is "losing" dynamic range. And BTW, you still can't use the Develop tab with Gray/16 documents - has to be an RGB.
  5. Yes - I realized that Silverfast has a config option to add one of a couple of grayscale profiles to the file. So, tried that: TIFF no profile: AP adds a D50 profile and the image looks good TIFF w/profile: AP uses the profile and image looks good JP2 with OR without profile: assigns RGB profile and image is random Example with generic gray 2.2 profile attached.   6. Hi - I'm scanning B&W negs from a flatbed in 16-bit using Silverfast, and saving them as jp2. Opening them Affinity Photo results in a warning that it is being assigned an RGB profile because none is assigned; the resultant image is B&W noise. What am I missing?
