Thank you, that answered my question on the first attempt at least. I'll follow it up if it doesn't always work as some have suggested.

The text frame ruler does not appear. I have followed the instruction on the Affinity guide and it still doesn't appear. (Affinity Publisher 1.7.1) Please advise

In new versions of Publisher is it possible to have a canvas surround to the main page so that items (graphics, odd bits of text etc) to be parked in case needed. This was always very useful with the Adobe suites. As bonus it could be applied to the whole Affinity suite. Phillip Dove

On first use the programme worked well but when I want to show items from the pull down menus they don't all show in the side menu. Some show but most importantly the 'show character' does not, it doesn't work from either the Text menu or the View menu.
