  1. Thank you for the detailed explanation of how nodes are dealt with in Inkscape!
  2. There are so many great things about Inkscape and it's incredibly powerful but I think a mathmetician designed the user interface sometimes LOL. I swear everything in IS takes 2 or 3 clicks more than everything else and things are very technically named, without any real regard to simplicity. It's a learning curve from hell but it will do almost anything AI can do and for free so I have much appreciation for Inkscape, despite my bitchings lol
  3. Does anyone else hate the small size of the Trace preview in Inkscape? lol the results are worth it but it always drives me nuts that i can't see a much bigger preview
  4. I feel Inkscape does a much better job at tracing than AI. Can't wait for an Affinity solution!
  5. Yet another moment of, hey I didn't know I could do that: Today I did a PLACE with an .svg image and I was able to edit it in the manner of an Adobe smart object. I knew I could do that with Affinity files but I didn't know I could do it with .svg as well. Kudos Affinity!
  6. I think one very big problem (I've been guilty as well) is that these are such full featured, beautiful, fast and amazing programs to use that we get really passionate about them. Perhaps like rabid fans? lol j/k but seriously, it's easy to forget that the Affinity Team isn't that big, compared to what? hundreds? thousands? of Adobe employees. That's why it's hard for them to be specific about everything and take more time than we think they should.. And we are such fans that we just can't wait!
  7. Guzzi, you might wish to put this post here instead: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/38-bugs-in-affinity-designer-affinity-photo/ so that you can get some help with this issue.
  8. Can confirm Photopea is great for creating warped text, does it pretty much the same way PS does but you can add your chosen font (if it's not already there), warp it, then export as an svg and it will preserve the vectors (downside, text does not remain editable) Works great, simple and intuitive if you've used Photoshop. Inkscape will also do it, with a thousand more mouse cicks (seriously Inkscape, why?) and if you're using Windows, Inkscape can be notoriously finicky but same results you would get in AI. I have to do this practically every time (I design for t-shirts) I make anything so I will be as glad as everyone else when this FINALLY becomes available. I'd love to have an ETA on this feature as well; if it's not too far off, I would make do with what i have in order to achieve the warping results I need. However, if I knew I had to wait say, longer than 6 months, I could go ahead and purchase something else. The Legacy Serif products are still available for purchase but there's no updates forthcoming for them. https://www.serif.com/en-us/
  9. Get on Youtube and search Affinity Revolution. Ezra has fantastic, easy to follow tutorials that you will love. There are tons and tons of free tutorials out there by users; you don't have to watch the official ones at all in order to learn what you need. Here's a couple more for you: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcsOB6WE5567h_cjk_EIFUw and InAffinity, which I've found hugely useful also: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOnLUmyPHr2rayOHVHWsHVw and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiPTkQa7HHF5R-w6Mhw4E4g Hopefully you'll be less frustrated after seeing some of these
  10. Agreed! The fewer clicks the better! For me, my 3 things would be: text warping (i use it for nearly every project involving text--ugh), a blend tool like in AI and the ability to do RIP separations from Affinity, like in AI. Then my life would be complete
  11. Good to know that I will have to do a workaround for the vector situation. From what i understand, the vector features are relatively new, so maybe CSP will add that at some point. I was wanting to know the exact same thing about the warped text! lol, for now, my solutions are to do it in Inkscape if it's cooperating (Inkscape is notoriously flaky on Windows) and if not, I use a site called Photopea. I am also anxious for that particular feature to 'hurry up already' lol. My workflow would be a thousand times better for that alone. It's been very time consuming and difficult to play the workaround game with Affinity, Inkscape, Photopea and Scribus (for color separations) and I will be so very glad when i don't have to jump through hoops anymore.
  12. I am just getting started with Clip Studio Paint and it does some pretty cool stuff! In my limited understanding from the tutorials I've watched so far, you can use either raster layers or vector layers. So even if you use vector layers, you still can't export as vector from Clip Studio Paint?
  13. I love these! it's actually really hard to find good halftone brushes, thank you!!
  14. it is also helpful to remember that while Affinity is an amazingly well developed set of software, they have hardly any employees at all compared to say, Adobe or Corel working on this stuff. Just have to be patient, as hard as it is. We all want these products now, now, now because they are so awesome and we want them fully featured now, now, now. It will get there and I have no doubt in my mind that when it does, it will do to Adobe what Adobe did to Quark.
