  1. Another try Original post blurb:- The only thing is with Intaglio Vectorize is it's best to have a very large page in affinity to paste into and work on (I either go for A1 or A2) Mandala2.m4v
  2. Sorry various.an.mar - I originally tried to respond to this yesterday morning (3rd Dec) and just made quick screen grab to illustrate the settings - but just can't get it to upload - tried about 5 times then gave up I just get: "! -200" every time (just tried again now) I'll see if I can try again later Mandala.mov
  3. Yes I also miss the knife tool but the current workarounds aren't that taxing - I dont see it as something I need to go to another app for - (unlike Vector distortions and warps) surely we can all get by with the pencil tool and divide for the time being Screen_Grab_2020-12-02_at_17_59_47.mov
  4. Sorry Magicbean I'm not sure what to tell you - It works across the board on the Mac - really great for digging down through groups Hopefully, some windows wiz will know the key combo, I can't imagine it being just Mac only? Screen_Grab_2020-12-02_at_17_41_03.mov
  5. It should work Magicbean I'm just not sure what the windows command key equivalent is - have you tried the window or alt key?
  6. Another day, another frustrated wish for just grabbing those pesky corners and tweaking - VS to the rescue - I'm really really hoping the Affinity boffins have something up their sleeves to match this: Screen_Grab_2020-12-02_at_10_07_09.mov
  7. Another way is to create your vector shape of brushstrokes or whatever, then group it, then drag to the side of whatever it is you want to mask and release, then to add to the mask or edit the mask, make sure you have the move tool selected (v) click on the new mask in the layers panel then hold the ⌘ key while right mouse clicking on the page which gives you a list of whatever in in the group - you can then edit or add or blur without the need to make a regular layer mask - very powerful Screen_Grab_2020-12-02_at_14_19_40.mov
  8. Yes a knife tool is still needed, as the original stroke / expand / divide workaround is still a faster option for trimming shapes with curves and wotnot - I assume most users are using this workaround? Screen_Grab_2020-12-02_at_09_47_29.mov
  9. Hey MattP I think you forgot to mention anything in the added features list about the 'segment cutter' spotted by haakoo - this is a great feature (Ctrl+Click path, deletes that part of the path between two nodes) Bye Bye break curve hello delete segment 👍
  10. Yes Break Curve has been a good friend ---- bye bye break curve hello ctrl+click - segment cutter 👍
  11. Artboards don't currently show viewable bleed (which is annoying) but it does output if your bleed is setup - the only way around this is to setup your Designer pages separately and make sure NOT to tick the 'create artboard' box on page setup then you'll be able to view the bleed - once theres an artboard setup you'll lose viewable bleed, I don't think theres a way to convert an artboard doc to a page doc, although you can create a non artboard doc and copy paste the content. I suspect the way that Artboards currently work is kind of like a mask or a vector container as if you place or move content in a layer above the artboard, you can see its full un-clipped size. I don't think the boffins have worked out a way yet to expand the artboard for viewable bleed so you could view a page size guide and then the artboard container - I usually set-up all my multi-page stuff in publisher as I really want viewable bleed - then use studiolink personas for designer and photo
  12. Blimey this is a pretty big deal - why didn't they big this up, can't remember seeing any blurb regarding this on the beta pages, who cares about screen recording when theres slicing to be done? HA HA HA! very funny - tried it and it works great - must have been a sneaky dev test to see who reads all the blurb at the bottom of the screen ---- thanks for that haakoo
  13. I reckon @JET_Affinity and Bryan Rieger are both spot on here - I believe I've done some of my best "professional" 🥴 work using Affinity - StudioLink really is an innovative solution and is something I now take as for granted as vector distortions and warps, upon trying out and loving the Affinity user experience 6 years ago - still loving it, I just didn't think it would take this long to implement some of the missing basics - I find now when I need to perform an edit that can't yet be done in Affinity, (usually switching to Illustrator or VectorStyler), I really miss it - so I alway aim to get the deed done as quickly as possible and pasted back in its rightful place in Affinity to complete the job.
  14. Sorry boss - yes I see your point : maybe ye olde features from the previous millennium new to Affinity Designer in 20?? maybe never?😭 maybe next week?🤞
  15. Very odd - surely the shortcut should just be a "shortcut" to the Menu / Table / Delete commands Table_shortcut_fail.mov Table_menu.mov
  16. mmmmmm 20 odd years ago I would have called them new features --- today (or even 6 years ago):= basic essentials --- Sorry for sounding bitter🤮
  17. After the roadmap got buried, It set my mind aflight with all kinds of rammell - maybe the whole engine needs re-writing from scratch in order to simply drag the corner node of a group of vector objects? - maybe the capability is all in place, it just needs switching on once the comedy value has died down and the Affinity gods have done laughing? - maybe "professional" designers and Illustrators dont need this capability has it's just cheating?
