William Overington reacted to jmwellborn in Christmas Wishes to Everyone!
Five hundred cookies and 128 rum buns out of the oven (not all at once) and here is my feeble attempt at a Christmas card. Since I couldn't draw my way out of a paper bag, I decided to use the Paper Cut Woodlands Assets with Designer 2 and the wonderful Warp Group, for this year's magnum opus. Hooray for the eye dropper!
Thank you to all of the wonderful people at Serif who have worked so hard to give us all the new things in the three V2's. And best wishes to everyone for a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

How do you envision the sentence “Please consider a train.” being used?

William Overington got a reaction from Old Bruce in It has begun…
I know that sometimes when I log onto a Windows 10 computer I get shown a picture and I am asked to choose whether I like it or not. The next picture shown might perhaps take that opinion and maybe my choice of the two options for earlier pictures into account.
If that were extended to several questions each with a scale of 0 to 10, and a picture shown each day, how long would it be before the system could present me with pictures that it deems that I would like?
Yet wait! What if the answers I give seem inconsistent, yet in fact vary wit my feelings at the time as human feelings can vary in time based on factors the system does not know about.
So how can it choose, or generate, a picture to match my choices?

Theres a song about this...
"Old McDonald had a real brush AI,AI,NO
and with the brush he made some real art AI, AI, NO
with a real swish here and a real dab there, here a dab there a dab every where a dab dab
Old McDonald had a real brush AI, AI, NO"

I only do that because that’s my name 😆 I thought vectorvondoom but then thought marvel would probably moan so something with my name is easy. Junk, well not posh, cheap paper, cheap inks, don’t want that. I think limited vs unlimited both have pros and cons but I’d imagine newbie would tend to go for unlimited. I think a mix isn’t a bad way though. Becoming much sought after probably isn’t something to consider too seriously as you’ve no idea if that could happen.

If the train has a code number, you can dispense with “Please consider a train.” and instead simply incorporate that number into the specific sentence; e.g.

Thanks, I did read a bit, well really just looked at the pics. But if I every try another then perhaps I’ll get closer or not care and it call it art deco.

my last post. I’m posting on instagram (yuk) and twitter (2 followers so Elon will be getting worried!) if you can find me! Also in the private Facebook Affinity Designer group (the biggest one).
Two quick ones. Did the astronaut then he had to have some transport. The rocket is a bit closer to futurist I guess. Rocket one needs a tweak or 10 but didn’t take too long.

As a header sentence, including so that in a sequence of sentences one can list more than one train.
For examples
Please consider a train.
The destination of the train is as follows.
Salisbury
The scheduled departure time is as follows.
1215
The new departure time is as follows.
1832
The train will leave from the following platform.
5
Please consider a train.
The destination of the train is as follows.
Edinburgh
The scheduled departure time is as follows.
1314
The new departure time is as follows.
1707
The train will leave from the following platform.
7
Please consider a train.
The destination of the train is as follows.
Brussels
The scheduled departure time is as follows.
2016
The train is cancelled.

William Overington reacted to Alfred in A Winter Poem
I imagine that many people will open the thread with the expectation that the poem will be visible on the web page, and that upon seeing the words
they decide that understanding the poem would require time and effort that they’re unwilling to devote to the task.

How strange.
Forty-five views of the thread, including about three from me.
Yet only two looks at the PDF document that I uploaded, one of them being me when I tested it was working fine.
So with one exception, thank you to you whoever you are, people looking at the thread have not then looked at the PDF document.
I wonder why, given that they had chosen to look at the thread that they did not then look at the PDF document.
Perhaps it would have helped if I had mentioned that the poem is illustrated with images that I produced using the Pen Tool and the Node Tool.

William Overington reacted to GarryP in Video Game Box Insert Experiment – Affinitia
Ah, sorry for my misunderstanding.
There’s a chance that my usage of the work “dark” here is possibly a little anachronistic but I think, in this case, it’s probably okay.
(I’d already used “evil” elsewhere in the text and didn’t want to repeat myself; “wicked”, as you say, would have worked just as well.)

William Overington reacted to GarryP in Video Game Box Insert Experiment – Affinitia
I think I’ve probably ‘faffed about’ with this for long enough so it’s time to ‘release it into the wild’ and “go out and do something less boring instead” (as the song, which some members of a certain age might remember, goes).
All done – except for certain stock images – in Affinity Designer and Photo.
It’s just an experimental thing, not a real product.
(You may need to click on the image and zoom in to see more detail.)

William Overington reacted to Alfred in Printing technologies for printing from a PDF document
Giclée springs to mind as the obvious choice for top quality art prints. The size of a limited edition is up to the artist, but the price of each print will depend not only on that size but also on the value attached to the particular artist’s work.

If Serif were to pay people to use their software, would the heat glow from their web server be detectable from space?

(There you are @Alfred I have set things up for a one word humourous answer! )

Is this preemptive complaining about impending whining, or premature whining about potential complaining?
-

Isn't there a 30-day free trial?
Best not complain for too long. The price is surely going up on December 15. There'll be plenty of whining then, too, I'm sure. And we can all hear it already.

Oh, so potentially one of those sort of "gimbal lock" things whereby Serif offers simultaneously a discount for m days and a free trial for n days and n is somewhat greater than m and then after n days when the trial period expires and the potential customer decides to buy the product the potential customer is ... er ... concerned, that the discounted price is no longer available.
On the previous occasion I think that, after ... er ... feedback in this forum that Serif management allowed people who were in the "gimbal lock" to buy the product at the discounted price.
So, is the situation the same as what happened last time, or is it now built-in to the process that if a prospective customer starts the trial during the discounted price period that he or she has the option of buying the software at the discounted price up until, say, the day after the trial period expires?
Whichever way it is going to work, it would, in my opinion, be best if the situation is made clear now rather than ambiguity and scope for confusion and concern arising at a later date.
William
