I've logged the contrast issue in light UI mode

Yes, they will. However, it may take awhile depending on their workload. Sometimes it happens quickly, but I've had some responses take over a week when they're really busy.

It’s particularly bad in the Glyph Browser in ‘Light UI’ mode.

On Windows you can check the file integrity via the Digital Signatures tab in the Properties dialog:

William Overington reacted to Mist001 in Affinity Publisher and opening PPP files
Hi. As a long established user of Serif Pageplus, I discovered the free public beta of Affinity Publisher tonight. I downloaded and installed it, attempted to open a Pageplus document, only to be met with 'This file type is not supported'.
That's going to be a bit of a problem because at the last count, I have 54 Pageplus documents which I need to access on a regular basis.
So, are there any plans to allow Affinity to support these Pageplus files? As it stands a the moment, Affinity is of no use to me.
Thanks.

Hi @William Overington,
hover the mouse over a forum post and look at the top right corner of it. There you see the text 'Report post' followed by a small icon with three dots and lines between them:
If you click on this icon a pop up window opens with a link to this very post. You can copy it and paste it to another post elsewhere in the forum.

I suggest reporting it as a bug, if it hasn't been already.

It is actually highlighted, William, but it’s extremely low contrast!

It's a known problem in the beta, expect a fix in a later version
For now you can switch off the option to "Capitalise first letter of sentences" in Preferences if it interferes too much with your typing/work

Searching is pretty much like the Help said: Put U+00b0 into the search field, and the browser shows that character:
Then, to get the character into the document, just double-click it and it's inserted at the cursor in the active text frame.

I have a font installed that uses some symbols inserted into a line of text. One of the issues I am encountering is that the baseline for the symbols is too high. I know that I can use TEXT>Baseline>>Lower baseline to get the symbols into a good position. However, I am using these symbols quite a lot, so my question is this; how do I get the symbol inserted at the position I want every time without having to move each instance?

William Overington reacted to MickRose in Spot colour naming
Thanks for version 1.7.0.227. The new way of handling coloured greyscale images is excellent. The only issue I have is that when creating a Pantone swatch, the swatch name defaults to "Global Colour 1" or similar, rather than Pantone 032 (for example). This name can be changed at the time of making the spot colour. It can also be renamed after the spot colour has been made. But in the latter case the new name is not used when an image is exported to PDF - it just comes out tagged with the name before it was changed. If the spot colour was renamed whilst it was being made then the new name is honoured in the exported PDF.

You can use CTRL+mouse wheel or CTRL+ '+' and CTRL+ '-' to increase and decrease the text size in help.

The Glyph Browser has a search box into which you can enter Unicode values like U+0040. You can also enter glyph IDs like G+0040.
If you select Arial and then use characters that Arial doesn't define, most apps will switch to a different font to display them so you can at least see what they are. Which font that is may be different for different apps. It may also depend on which characters you used. We try to match basic font attributes, such as whether the font is monospaced or sans serif. I don't know what WordPad does.

Is there a possibility that someone at Serif could comment on this topic please?

Welcome to all of you to the Serif Affinity forums
It says a lot about this feature request that so many potential customers want to create an account to add to this thread.
To all readers,
You may be pleased to hear that I understand this feature is being worked on currently, though I do not know of the exact progress.

As noted in the Microsoft Typography document, SimSun features a mincho (serif) stroke style. I would expect a sans-serif font such as Arial to be replaced by something like SimHei.

That looks suspiciously like SimHei, William! It certainly isn’t SimSun.

I think that’s what it is. Comparing samples of SimHei and MS Gothic, it looks more like the latter.
