We were discussing Adobe Illustrator — or ‘Illy’ for short — whose native files (*.ai) contain a PDF stream if saved with the ‘Create PDF Compatible File’ option checked.

They are image or raster files. "Direct" has no meaning in this context, as far as I am aware.
You can export an image as a PDF file. You can send the PDF file to a printing company, or Open it in an appropriate application (which might include Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader or a bunch of other PDF applications, or even Affinity applications) and work with it, including Printing it.
But if you want to use spot colors and a raster-format file, then you will need to know (a) which raster file formats support the use of spot colors and (b) whether Affinity supports creating them. I can't help with either of those, though for (a) I might suggest doing a good web search.

“Space Base” is a vectorial image with a sci-fi theme, created as if it was a still frame from an anime movie. Another vector illustration made with basic shapes, gradients and this time, special brushes for the clouds. This work was also made following a tutorial by visual artist Isabel Aracama, and you can acess her site for this tutorial plus the freebies: www.isabelaracama.com

I never have either, and there's at least one recent topic about Affinity not supporting spot colors in, I think, EPS files.
The only way to know for sure is to try it, and then somehow analyze the output.
But we know it works for PDF.

I guess pdf can be seen as a container when the image is raster based?
Tiff supports spot colours, not sure if Affinity can save that was as I've never tried.

Exporting as a PDF should work.

. . . one other avenue you could try: Export as PDF then rename the extension as ".ai" (without quotes). Since PDF files are the same as Adobe Illustrator files (.ai), the forum won't display, but anyone who opens it with a graphics program will be able to view it. Did that all the time with Drawplus when entering a drawing for consideration by 99designs.

Are you looking for straight line edges to blocks of colour?
If so, you could try using the Pen Tool in either Affinity Designer or Affinity Publisher. If the shapes are done in opaque, which is the default situation, they can be placed one over another so you do not need to make the shapes precisely matched in order to get a clean-looking join.
The reason I ask is because the image seems a bit blocky on the lines but it is not clear if that is deliberate or just the effect of enlarging a smaller bitmap image.

Hi guys! I had done this effect with Photoshop with Gaussian noise and then I enlarged the cubes but with affinity I can't do it, would anyone be able to help me?
to make this effect the same with even the colors so bright

If you want to attach an image file without having it displayed inline, either create a *.zip archive or use a file format such as TIFF instead of PNG or JPEG.

I just bought Affinity Publisher just now found out it seems there is no clip art of any kind. I have Serif DrawPlus x5 and Serif Page Plus x7
and both those came with tons of clip art. Sense I paid for these programs and own them it sure would be nice if Publisher would see the files so I
could copy the whole folder and use what I paid for with the older Serif. Especially it seams Affinity and Serif are kinda the same company now.
Yes I know I can copy and paste and import but it would be so easy if Publisher recognize the older Serif files.

    Shouldn’t it say
    repreſentation and
Engliſh or was the sixteenth century either too late or too early for that kind of shenanigans?

Not too early, nor too late. Yet I am using the style with present day language, though a little stylisedly quaint in the wording. For example, the year in Roman numerals, but the present date. Also, the style is French.

Thank you for taking a look! I was under the false impression that they were screenshots, since that's what I normally do. Once you pointed that out to me I was able to get it taken care of. Thanks!

Yes, History is deleted when Saving unless you ask for it to be retained (whichcan greatly increase the size of the Saved file).

    Yes.
I have now made a copy of the .afdesign file and done a horizontal mirroring of the text frame and moved the glyphs around so as to get the correct poem, of which I hope to post an image soon.
