    Is there any reason why you chose this font? For me (and I suspect many others) the fancy bit St serve to reduce readability.

    William Overington reacted to Antony parks in Japanese wave pattern repeats......
    Good morning, I'm back with a variation on the theme; japanese wave patterns.
    The first one is indeed a "wave " pattern; it shows the nearly traditional form of the Japanese wave repeat:

    This one is uses autumn grass:

    Like many others I'm also in need of close curve feature for pencil tool. At this point, I think the simplest solution would be to enable 'actions' from Pen and Node tools to also be available to Pencil Tool since it also creates and manipulates curves.

    William Overington reacted to James Ritson in What is the shortcut key for switching between personas?
    They're not set by default, but you can assign them by going to Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts. You should see them straight away if you're on Mac. If you're on Windows, scroll down slightly to see them.
    Worth noting that you'll need to switch to another persona category at the top (e.g. Liquify) to set a shortcut for the main Persona (Photo, Draw, depending on the app). Hope that helps!

    Good news! Who woulda thunk exporting from a different persona would produce a different result?

    @Alfred
    No, it is not!
    I tried again, but first I tried
    File
    Personas
    Pixel
    and upon selecting
    Selection with background
    the size went to 1500 2100
    Oh one does need a steady hand to change persona!
    Though I think one needs to add the rectangle and select it before changing the persona.

    I’m getting inconsistent results with my tests here, but even when I try to crop/mask a group of vector objects with a smaller rectangle I never get export dimensions the same size as the rectangle. I think this is because cropping is non-destructive (so the parts beyond the bounds of the rectangle are retained to allow the operation to be reversed).
    As far as I can see, you need to rasterize everything in order to be able to discard unwanted pixels.

    @PatrickDu
    The offer will begin on Monday 22nd November. We haven't announced an end date just yet.
    The discount will be automatically applied to all orders before the order is placed.

    My apologies, William. I posted without having the app in front of me.
    Your screenshot shows the size when the ‘Whole document’ option is chosen. Don’t the dimensions change if you chose either of the other options?

    I think you have your answer!

    You need to select the 2100 by 1500 rectangle and choose to export the selection area rather than the selected objects.

    @rahimin3d
    Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
    The sale starts on Monday, and no there's no discount before then. This earliy announcement is to help people thinking of buying anything in the next few days to know to wait and avoid them saying that they would have waited if only they had known. It's to save our customers money and get fewer refund requests.

    Hi,
    Three quick questions from a UK based customer.
    1) When is the Affinity Black Friday 2021 event with 30% Discount happening?
    2) Is it a specific date or period?
    3) When purchasing where is the 30% discount applied?
    Many thanks for your help with these questions.
    Patrick

    Can you be a bit more specific? In my second post to the other thread (the very last post, at the time of writing this one) I mentioned dragging a group to the rectangle layer’s clipping position. Is that what you found difficult?
    You’ve already used the W and H controls in the Transform panel to make the rectangle exactly 2100 pixels by 1500 pixels. If you haven’t already done so, use the X and Y controls to position it precisely, cut it to the clipboard and left-click on the group in the Layers panel. If you then paste the rectangle from the clipboard, it will be added immediately above the selected group in the layer stack. Right-click on the rectangle layer and choose ‘Mask to Below’ to crop the group to the rectangle shape.

    Well, I looked at the picture before reading anything and I thought it good. I still think it good.
    Until I read your note about the alterations it did not occur to me that the geese were pasted on, I thought it good how you had gathered the picture with one of the geese with wings up and one with wings down.
    As for the water, I did not realize that it was pasted on either, it just looked choppy as if there was a bit of a wind blowing.
    The trees have lost their leaves, and with the choppy water, it looks like it is a bit of a chilly windy day, heading for winter but not winter yet.

    I was trying for realism, capturing the atmosphere of a New England Autumn. The sort of picture you see on calendars. I see now that I oversaturated the colors, and there's too much purple. And the road is too blue. I'll work on it some more. It has potential. This is the original photo:

    This is my first serious attempt to make something with APhoto. I used a photo I'd taken of a saltwater marsh in Maine. I brightened up the colors a bit because they looked dull. I hope I didn't overdo it. Then I replaced the sky and water, and added two Canada geese I found on Pixabay. The sky looks real, but the water and geese look pasted on because I couldn't figure out how to make them look realer. Good enough, I guess. I haven't learned to use all the tools yet. APhoto is great fun. I'm glad I bought it.
