So I tried it with the newest version without metal and it is working. With version 1.9.1 it works with Metal. i also found version 1.9.3 and it is also working with metal.

It’s a single layer and it is not the first pic where this happens. I will try tomorrow if metal off is working. Today I was digging in my backups and went back to version 1.9.1 and here it’s working fine.

I'm using a 2013 Mac Pro 32 Gb RAM and MacOs 10.14. At the last version of Photo are some strange issues. When I'm using drop shadows on layers in jpg files, I get this... I deleted the app incl. preferences and loaded a fresh App Store version, but it isn't any better.
