Disappointing that nearly a year after the Pana G9 was released, it's not fully supported and there is apparently no guarantee that it will be included in the next update at some unknown time in the future.

    Still broken.
As for every bug in Affinity I would not expect a bugfix to soon.

I'd like to just put this out here so people can put likes and add visibility for developers. This feature would really help me out. I'm pretty sick of exporting pdf:s and adding bookmarks to it with another software. I wish I could just do them in one software.

Steps reacted to fde101 in Affinity - Android
To put some context around this, one of the highest-performing Android tablets out there right now is the Galaxy Tab S6, which has a roughly $650 price tag (Wi-Fi 128 GB model) and an OpenCL score of 2299.
The 6th gen iPad (Wi-Fi 128 GB model) - not even the iPad pro - has a Metal score of 2793 (its equivalent to the OpenCL score for Android) and a price tag of $429.
Granted that the multicore (CPU) score on the Tab is 2468 compared to 1405 for the iPad, but from what I gather the Affinity apps on the iPad depend much more heavily on the Metal performance (which would translate to OpenCL on the Android tablets) than on the CPU performance - and an iPad pro (granted a fair bit pricier) has a multicore CPU score of 4604 with a Metal score of 9149, neatly trouncing both of them on all counts.

When you look at the more "affordable" Android tablets (since your concern seems to be with the price of the iPad), the numbers look much worse for Android: the $330 Asus Zenpad 3S 10 has a multicore score of 762 and no OpenCL support at all apparently (as the score is marked "N/A"), while the $450 Galaxy Tab S4 shows a multicore score of 1489 and an OpenCL score of 1743.
In short, by the time you have something comparable to the performance of the iPad in the form of an Android tablet, you are actually paying more for the Android tablet than for the iPad.  If you are hoping for an Affinity version for Android in an attempt to save money compared to the iPad, you either won't be happy with the performance or will need to invest in a tablet that will wind up costing more than the iPad would have anyway.

Before I start my "rant" and people will disagree/agree I'd like to admit first - I bought all 3 apps, as well as 2 Ipad versions so I fully support and appreciate what Affinity is doing but the truth is I barely use them, unfortunately.
I hope devs read this forum and hear me out. As someone who used InDesign/Quark for the last 20 years I understand we're at version 1 and there a lot of things we didn't get yet but if the app (all 3 of them) wish to be considered as adobe killers they should at least offer similar capabilities the current version have.
I work in a busy print house but I managed to try Publisher on couple of jobs I do regularly. First one was a health magazine, A4 16 pages. It's a mixture of articles, ads, recipes etc.
I've finalised the mag but here's the list of stuff that made the job hard or sometimes impossible to finish:
No PDF pass-through. The mag includes PDF ads sent by producers so importing them, even as external links caused the ads to be "opened" and fully editable. This is very dangerous as there were fonts missing, images loosing their transparencies etc. Had to convert most of them to tiff's Images with no frames by default. Some people may call in just an old habit but this is how I think layout app should deal with images. When I drop an image on a page I want to control the size of the frame and image inside independently. When one is laying out a page of a magazine you have only a space that text allows so I constantly resize, crop move image inside the frame to get that spot-on position. Publisher allows to do it but it's really clunky, and not on by default. On top of that when I switch this option and resize the outer frame the image inside scales and re-centers itself which drives me maaad!  No hand tool when inside the text frame. I hit the ALT key constantly to move around the page, while my cursor is inside the text frame (cant use space obviously). I know I can move around if I have 3-button mouse but it's not the same as standard hand tool. Changing selected text frame option makes it the default. Not sure why this is the default behaviour. It's very confusing and un-intuitive.  No scope for S&R. This is really huge omission, especially when we can use GREP. I use it all the time to clean up imported text (double spaces, returns, extra tabs, leading numbers). Without an option to limit to current frame or a selection this can really mess up your existing layout. The second job was a technical manual, lots of tables, footers, end-notes. Here's my list of missing features:
No footnotes/endnotes. I'm guessing it's coming in future versions, I mean it has to. No way to split/flow tables between pages.  Tables are separate from text-frames. I know you can anchor the table inside the text frame but then we go into issue 2 - tables won't split themselves between pages. No book feature. My manual is approx. 200 pages. It's a mixture of portrait and landscape pages so my original ID project is a book, which includes all sections. This way I can have portrait and landscape as separate indd files and join them together as one PDF, with page numbers, TOC's all synchronised. This feature is a must for any longer publication I believe. I hope it's on the feature list as well. No separation/overprint preview. This is very crucial feature for pro designers. I check the breakdown of colours on the layout all the time.  Preflight/Packaging. I think that's self explanatory
To make this post not just a list of complaint here's what i like about the app.
Speed. This is ways ahead than current Adobe apps. Even on an older machine all 3 apps work as fast as I can work myself. Studio link. I like this feature, ability to edit images or vector files without leaving the app is great. I'm still not sure what happens to original files - do they get embedded or originals get edited. I guess I need to use it more often to figure out. The amount of pro features in v.1. Even though I've listed a lot above I'm still impressed how many features we got in the first release. I did manage to finish these complicated jobs with the current version so I'm really impressed and looking forward to future releases. I just wish the list of new features are more aligned to pro user than "Publisher on iPad" - nobody needs that. I would love to use Publisher on as many jobs as I can, now that we have indesign import coming but when I think about the features I miss I just skip and go back to indesign, which is really a bummer.
I hope this post won't start a flame war but a good discussion how we'd like this app to go forward. I think everybody here is tired of Adobe slow apps, lack of real progress, extortionist prices for subscription and would love to drop them for Affinity apps.

It would be more helpful if you explained what is wrong with the widow and orphan function. Footnotes - well I understand that's on  the horizon but many designers I know that use InDesign don't use the footnote function at all and prefer to create them manually, but that's not a reason for the function not to be in Publisher. What do you want from a Book function? As for speed - I'm at a loss. Publisher is extremely fast and makes InDesign look like a snail in comparison. What computer are you using?
You say you test Publisher from time to time but it was launched less than 6 months ago at a price level less than 10% that of Indesign or Quark Express. That's not to say that we shouldn't have high expectations but we should cut our cloth etc. It took Adobe with profits in the billions and an unlimited access to programmers and developers in their budget years to get InDesign to the same level that Publisher has already achieved.
Constructive criticism is helpful, and positive. This just sounds like an InDesign fan bad mouthing another product.

    @smadell Wow, thank you.
I'm impressed how complex this macro is.
In my opinion this is the best cartoon effect macro so far seen in this forum. At least a one where
Compared to the other suggestions how to achieve this effect this one has the cleanest result and is the best starting point for manual work.
According to @Callum this may be the most you get out of Affinity as long as artistic filters are in the making.
    Here is my result:

And this is what I want to achieve some day with Affinity Photo as a basic result (filter #1):

And after having reviewed many many photo filter tools this one is simply the best (filter #4):

After studying your macro I can only imagine how much work must go into developing this filter.
In fact that company even started a new tool just for this one filter.
But as stated in another thread this FXCartoonizer desktop tool is very slow, instable and has no options.
It just has one really good algorithm for one effect.
I hope Serif finds a way to provide a filter going in that direction with more manual control. This would be soo awesome for everyone here looking after cartoon effects.
Many tools have even bader "cartoon filter" than what's possible with Affinity Photo.
I laughed as I saw that one of the paid tools has a filter called "Neon" which is just edge detection.
My conclusion so far is that many tools advertise the amount of filters, but 90% of those filters just change white balance or colors and are therefore useless.
Really good filters that make a difference to a photo are rarely seen.
On a site note I'm not very sure about the "cartoon effect" because some other tools call it "oil painting" - looks similar, but not that good.

Actually right now I would live to have such a export function to share my photo book online without giving the PDF away.
Looking at existing solutions they are all rather expensive for a non-pro and have also a bad UI.
Is there any free / open source solution to convert a PDF or a bunch of JPGs to a HTML5 flip book that I can host on my own server?

Just trying digiKam now thanks to this thread and love how fast it moves. I have been using Olympus Viewer 3 and it has been very cumbersome. There are so many areas where I would love to see Affinity Photo grow but from my short time with the program it seems that there are many people groaning about things not happening as quickly as they would like. This frightens me seeing that they are launching a new product and running two beta programs. Getting the feeling they are spreading themselves a little thin.

When you go the export dialog, can it remember the settings from the last time an export was made.   ie the filetype, size, quality, area etc
And if it can save the last export settings as part of the document that would even better.

Don’t know if this will help, but this is what I do.  Select the Picture Frame Tool (either the rectangle icon or the ellipse icon with the cross mark inside) and drag out something the size you want on your canvas.  Then go to FILE>Place and select the image you wish to use from its location (in Mac it is possibly Finder>Pictures).  When you find your image and click on OPEN, your image should appear inside the picture frame with the cross mark, which is on your canvas.    You can then use various adjustments available to you.

Hi, thanks for the good work on the Affinity products!  Having spent some first moments on tuning in with Affinity publisher I'm missing a preflight checker. That's why I have the following feature request:
    User Stories:
As an Affinity Publisher user I would like Affinity Publisher to check whether my document layout and the document content fulfills before-configured criteria in order to not export unwanted documents. I would like Affinity Publisher to provide sane default values/configurations for the below-mentioned checks. I would like Affinity Publisher to enable me to define and administrate (create, read, update, delete) several preflight profiles. Desired checks: The checks that I would like Affinity publisher to perform are:
Image resolution: I would like to get notified which image does not match a document's defined resolution to prevent pixelated prints. Image colour space: I would like to get notified if an image potentially contains colours which might get lost when producing a exporting a document, e.g. for CMYK printing. Content-bleed-distance: I would like to get notified which contents are too close to a document's bleed, e.g. a background image that should expand to the "bleeding edge". Outdated links: I would like to get notified which objects displayed in Publisher do not represent the latest version of a referenced file. Missing external resources: I would like to get notified which external resources cannot be located by Affinity Publisher anymore. Text overflows: I would like to get notified which text boxes have an overflow issue. Background: My first project is going to be a simple poster. But I plan to recreate an old InDesign project using Affinity Publisher, a poetry anthology with several pictures etc. I definitely need the software to notify me if I accidentally messed up my layout, e.g. by adjusting a paragraph style etc.
I hope you are already on it. Such a preflight check definitely is part of what I would consider a professional desktop publishing program.
