  1. Because a DAM is missing? I don't believe that. You can use Luminar and Affinity Photo in conjuction. What does stop you from doing so? I use the very good DAM digiKam right now and will eventually switch to Affinity DAM if it can compete. And if not it's also okay. Having a DAM from Affinity is really not that important. It's a nice to have when the Publisher is ready, but not before. Seriously.
  2. I somehow really lost count on all these "We need a lightroom replacement" topics. This may be the 50th... Please, may a mod pin any of the Lightroom topics to stop people creating over and over new topics on that? I would appreciate that. I would suggest this one. It was not the first and not the longest, but it contains a poll: Or pin this thread as it contains an official answer from @MattP:
  3. Yes, I think decorative frames are a good idea. You would not need an plug-in or extension here to do that. Actually @fde101 and I worked out in another topic a clever idea how the already existing assets panel functionality could be tuned to support that. You maybe want to show your support for that. In the mean time you can build up your assets for this. They are a bit hard to use, but you get used to it: Have a group of layers. On top the pixel frame with your border, second the mask and third the actual picture frame. Place an image layer per drag and drop using the layer panel as the picture frames child. This worked in my production project and I build up a few decorative frames on my own using this way. I hope Serif will one day implement the suggested idea in the linked topic.
  4. Yes, we all want to see this changed to real linking. But I don't know if this will happen. I dont recall any official statements on this. They surely need to do something about that because now you are limited to something above 200 high-res images in your document. After that Publisher starts crashing and consuming a lot of memory. I heared that with true linking like in InDesign there is no real limit to images.
  5. @Jon P Will this crashing issue get fixed? Serious question as I would understand if this is just not a regular use case. I can close the document before apply batch changes.
  6. In my case exiftool changed the modification date and Publisher immediatly began to spawn popups. Shortly after that the UI freezed and a minute later it crashed. Currently it does not expect mass changes. But it works quite nice if I change just one image at a time by retouching it with Photoshop. This is the intented use.
  7. I trialed several apps by now I don't see which you reference. I understand that this is intentional, but I still think It's wrong and can be improved. I will create a suggestion topic on this.
  8. Ok, this makes sense. On my first test I did not notice this and many other usability problems and bugs either, but on my real-life project it all came clear to me. I this case I want to crop as less as possible my image. I shoot all my images in an 3:2 ratio, but composition on some pages demanded that I switch to 4:3 or 1:1 ratio so they are less wide and better fit into the page. I don't want to loose pixels at the top or bottom here. Proper cropping like this is right now very hard to do in Publisher. Sometimes it got really frustrating and I cropped the image outside Publisher in Photoshop rather than fiddling around with the Picture Frame. But at least this Issue got a tag that devs will consider it and give a clear yes or no to this. This helps me to plan my future way of use.
  9. @Chris B Is this Information enough to reproduce the issue or do you need more input?
  10. Yes, this came up before and I still would like to have such functionality. But in the mean time I learned it may be difficult because for example bleed is a document property and merging two documents with different bleed may destroy information.
  11. How do you then crop a image proper to it's edge without snapping? Or so you always happen to crop all edges?
  12. Nice to know Publisher even survived this. 23 seem to work. I changed the icc profile of 100 images in batch with exiftool while Publisher was open and it crashed reproduceable due to this. I did not report it as a bug as I'm not sure if it's build for mass changes. Closing the app before the change and opening it after (so skipping the pop ups) worked even for 200 images.
  13. Did you try if snapping works with your way? Maybe I misconfigured something and it's just broken for me.
  14. This is a question that is asked over and over. All files are actually embedded and "linked" just means the original file location is watched for changes. There is no real linking here yet. And the file size grows because It's an database behind the scenes.
  15. Interesting. Can you link me to the official statement please? Thank you.
  16. Yes, this is normal and how the file works. Images are always embedded. You can slim down the file size by "save as" under another name. Please use the search on this.
  17. Yes, I saw your screenshot in the first place but I assumed it will perform a autosave before doing so. Maybe you should write in bold letters in the starting post that you loose all data since the last autosave due to this to make the relevance of the problem much more clear. I did not get the consequences in the first place. But staff already answered so this will be tackled. It's just surprising that so much discussion happened there after.
  18. This is a really interesting question. I don't know how people managed to set up the few polls in this forum, but I would like to see a pinned survey about how many people are actually professionals vs hobbyists. My feeling is that it's somewhere near a tie, but getting data on this would be interesting.
  19. That does actually happen? Affinity closes down without asking to save the altered document something else? Never had this situation but if it is so I would fill in a bug report and let me explain why that should be intentional.
  20. I'm so sad that Duke Nukem Forever actually did come out eventually. It was in the title!
  21. Yes, did so, but I was not able to achieve what I wanted this way. So I stick with the light theme.
  22. I miss something in the middle between the dark and light theme or an improved dark theme. Now it's really to dark and unfortunately also has low contrast what you notice especially in the tutorial videos. But I understand @fde101s explaination, so a new gray theme could help.
  23. You have a key in your Afginity Store account.
