[Info panel not working]

Reinstall of Affinity Photo did not solve the problem.  So now it seems that the issue is my System and not a problem of interest to this Community...

I have.

A Time Machine backup had the same problem so I am thinking that my macOS is the problem.  Having some problems with a defective Spotlight app.

Am reinstalling...

Running macOS 10.13.1.  Tried resetting using control+click on affinity icon to open.  But now the info panel is missing from Studio!

So I am now unable to try your suggestions.....

Folks,

I add an HSL layer to the Background, and place a target to get a readout of the color--all fine. But when I adjust the HSL layer, while the photo changes, the readout of the colors does not change. Have rebooted program but it doesn't help.
