Hello, I downloaded Scibus for page layout, it's free, adequate... meh. I just decided to quit doing freelance, it was onlyt small amounts as, I'm a retired graphic designer. I have taken up oil painting and it's super satisfying, there's an irony though. A few of the experienced painters in the class have ipad pro's with procreate and it's very helpful with the grid lines (which affinity photo also does) for setting up proportions on composition sketches on the canvas. Now I want an ipad pro (though it's not a must have), if I end up getting one, I will likely buy the affinity suite if it goes on sale again. I find the irony kind of amusing. Give Scribus a try and best of luck to you.

I did a search on this topic and it said that if I upgrade to Catalina I will have to Apple Music and not iTunes. I sitll have an old iPod touch with 30 pins hook up in my car. I will use it until I can't. I did try my very old macbook pro and it changed and started up fine so I might just use that macbook for my itunes if it is compatible with my iPod then upgrade to Catalina.

I am not looking to publish ebooks. I was looking for a page layout program. I used InDesign for a long time before that I used Pagemaker, an old Adobe product. I'm a retired graphic designer but have been doing some freelance. I may just give up on freelance considering my 2019 macbook pro was $3,000 and I can't update to Affinity 2 because I don't want to update my OS due to iTunes being taken away. I also refuse to pay for Adobe's subscription program, as I am not doing graphic design full time. It appears that Apple's new practices to make things go obsolete faster and faster, all of course to make more money. I probably won't buy another mac. I've starting oil painting, it's fun and my teacher said I could get to the point where I can sell my work. So maybe I'll just paint and go back to silversmithing.

I would really appreciate if Affinity would put V1 back up for sale even with limited support. I believe it would help people in my same situation. I still want Affinity Publisher. Crogi, I want to add that you have been very helpful and kind in trying to accomplish what many other companies would not. I appreciate you. 🙂

I have Deleted V2 and Gone Back to V1
michie replied to Didge's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
The reason compatibility between V1 and V2 is important is that a file that is created in an old version may need editing from clients. So a graphic designer would have to keep both programs and the downfall is that the old one isn't going to supported. That's a huge issue. -
In other words planned obsolescence. It's getting really tiresome. Everyone is so worried about plastic grocery bags but there is a ton more waste that from planned obsolescence, in my opinion. I actually probably won't buy an apple computer next time and it's the only type I have ever bought since I started using computers.

Um I did not complain, it was a suggestion to Serif Affinity, to make V1 available for people in the same situation as me. I get that's buying V2 is a good deal but at this point I am trying to make the decision if I am going to keep doing freelance work. I am not as proficient with Affinity Photo and Designer. I used Adobe Creative Suite it for so many years that I was super fast and knew where every tool was and all the key commands. The graphic design industry has changed a great deal, there are cheaply priced designers that can be found online from overseas. There are some clients just don't care that much about quality design and skills and are okay with just getting the job done cheaply. I guess only large design firms get the clients that care about excellent design and have the clients that will pay for the talent and skills. I've been very lucky and had a good career that I loved as a graphic designer. Now retired from graphic design and only do small jobs once in awhile. So it's on me if I really want to keep putting money into expensive computers and keep buying programs. I have appreciated having an option to use non subscription graphics suite (didn't buy V1 publisher at the time). So it's on me to make up my mind. Thanks for everyone's input.

I did already bought V1 of Affinity Photo and Designer a few years ago. What I want is V1 of Publisher. I can't use V2 because my OS on my macbook pro is 10.14.6 (please read my original post). I had downloaded the trial V2 and it doesn't work on my macbook due to my not wanting to upgrade my OS and losing itunes. If you can arrange for me to get a V1 of Publisher that would be great, thanks so much.

I downloaded trial version Affinity 2 but cannot use it as I have a macbook pro that is OS 10.14.6. I don't want to upgrade my OS as I do not want to lose itunes. I paid $3,000 for my macbook pro in 2019 so I am not about to buy a new one. I purchased Affinity 1 Photo and Designer. Since I cannot use Affinity 2 and would like to have Affinity 1 Publisher. Would Affinity put the old versions of the programs back up for sale? I know I am not the only person in this situation. Thanks for reading and please consider putting the Affinity 1 programs back up for sale. michie

System requirements

I was really excited about an updated Affinity 2 suite. I downloaded the 30 trial. Unfortunately my 2019 macbook pro still has OS version 10.14.6 as well. The reason is I want to keep this particular version of the OS is that I want to keep itunes and if I upgrade I will lose that. Honestly 2019 isn't that old of a computer for these programs not being compatible. Very disappointing.
