  1. Update The latest Beta (downloaded 26.3.19) seems to have solved the problem. Both the old file (which didn't open most of the time) and the modified file now open with no problems. Also files seem to open much more quickly in the new beta.
  2. Hi JFisher Update, the new file does still open but only if another file is opened in Publisher first! If it's the first file to open Publisher just closes down. I've attached the new file with all the links made to the missing files. thanks Unit_85_Video_Working.afpub
  3. I've now sorted this out. I tried to load a previous version of Publisher, which of course didn't work. I then uninstalled Publisher, including all extraneous files, using an uninstall programme and then reinstalled This enabled me to open the file, I then replaced each of the missing linked files and saved the file with a new file name. The file now opens. I had renamed one of the folders in which I stored my images which caused the broken links, there were about 20. Let me know if it would still be useful for you to have a copy of the "broken" file regards
  4. Hi I've created a number of files in Publisher with no real problems. However I have created one file 65Mb which causes Publisher to hang when I try to open it. I get the message on screen Missing Resource(s). Some of your linked resource files are missing. Would you like to locate them? However I'm unable to click on either Yes or No and have to close down Publisher using Task Manager. A few times before this I was able to open the file by clicking on No but this option is not available to me now. It seems to have occurred since the last update. I've just confirmed that the problem is something to do with the update. I've located earlier versions of the file which I was able to open and edit, they're producing the same behaviour in Publisher Is the file corrupted now? Can I get it back or not? thanks
  5. Thanks, I've (partially) solved this. Yes you were correct the red wavy line was spelling correction. However I was just seeing that with no text. Somehow Styles must have set to something else where the text wasn't visible to me when I pressed the re set icon the text then became visible. Hopefully I now know what to do.
  6. Thanks, found the icons (they weren't on my toolbar initially). This reset things and the text boxes functioned as normal but now I'm getting a red squiggly line when I type.
  7. Thank you for your reply. It must be something to do with the styles as this occurred after the last update. My work around is to copy and paste text from an existing (pre update) text box into a text box I've just created and then that seems to reset the text in the new text box. In the past I was confused regarding the resize handles until someone on the forum explained the difference between the handles and I've been careful about this ever since. However I'm not sure how to reset the styles. Can you be more specific about which icon I need to click on? Thanks again.
  8. Hi I'm suddenly finding that when I create a new text box the first line of text appears just above the text box with a font that appears a lot smaller although the font size that shows up in the toolbar is what I normally use (Arial 12pt). I'm not sure if this a bug or I've inadvertently changed the setting somewhere but I can't seem to find a solution. On the other hand unlinking text boxes seems easier or I may have just got used to it. I'd appreciate any help. thanks
  9. Clicking on Yes I get an Explorer window to my files. I would it more useful if the Resource Manager opened then I could see all the images that weren't properly linked.
  10. Thanks, I didn't realise that menu item existed. It might be helpful if when the message "Some of your linked resource files are missing. Would you like to relocate them?" appears that there was a link to the Resource Manager in the pop up. I don't know if that's possible or not.
  11. When I create a document and import images into it I usually import the images as linked images. Sometimes I subsequently move these images into a different folder. When I re-open the document I will then get a message. "Some of your linked resource files are missing. Would you like to relocate them?" This is standard behaviour in InDesign however in that program the images with broken links are marked. I can't see anyway to identify the images with broken links in Publisher. Not sure if I'm missing something or if this has not been implemented yet. Thanks
  12. OK, thanks. That makes sense. I'll make sure I don't resize the frames with that bottom right node.
  13. On a few occasions when I create a new text frame on the same page as a previous frame the font changes to a very small font, 2.5. This has also happened when I've created a link to a new text frame. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when it occurs. My work around is to copy and paste an existing text frame and then delete the existing text.
