  1. Display 1: 2560 x 1440 scaled to 125% (Newer monitor where I tend to work on Designer & Photo) Display 2: 1920 x 1080 scaled to 100%
  2. Hi Gabe, Thanks for getting back to me. I'm fairly sure I don't have any of those installed - I've just had a quick look through. My company only gave me this PC about 1 month ago and as far as I can tell it hasn't had much installed yet. It's a fairly straightforward Windows 10 build. If you need me to check anything let me know, Thanks again, Dan
  3. Hi, I just wanted to report this unusual ongoing issue. I have a 2 monitor set up, but nothing special. My scenario is: # Working on Designer (1.7) on Screen 1 # Move to Screen 2 (e.g. to do a google image search) # Return to Designer on screen 1 it always crashes or functions don't work (e.g. pan, pen tool etc) # Restart Designer and all works fine again I'm running a fairly powerful PC (Intel i7-8700K, 6 core, 32GB RAM, Nvidia P2000 etc, etc) and this only occurs with Designer Any thoughts would be appreciated. Regards, Dan
  4. Hi all, Apologies, I realise this isn't specifically a software question, but I was hoping someone might be able to give me a steer in the right direction. Basically, until now I've never gone down the ipad route as most of the software I use (3D CAD) is Windows desktop based. However, I'm finding Designer such a good tool that I'd like to use it on the go to create vector assets. Can anyone recommend which ipad they find to be optimal for Designer? Obviously, I can see on the system specs what ipads it can run on, but I'm buying an ipad specifically to use Designer. That in
  5. I've been using lots of design software for years (2D & 3D), and let me just say Designer is the best I've ever used. It's intuitive, smooth and rich. The core of my work is architectural & engineering design (so I use a lot of CAD software) and it occurs to me that, if Designer had an option to set scale it would also serve as a nice, simple CAD program. i.e. you could start an A3 sheet, set the scale to 1:100 and then when you draw a 1000mm line it produced a line 10mm long on the document. It's just a thought, I realise CAD is not the target market, and the programmers
  6. Thanks all for your input on this. All your solutions are better than the approach I was taking - sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees. I'm new to AD but so far it's proving to be one of the best & intuitive tools I ever worked with. Unfortunately that means the only limiting factor is my own ability. I'll experiment more with your suggestions, many thanks again.
  7. Hi, Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction on this one. I have 2 rectangles, both with an image texture assigned, and I'd like the edge between them to be less noticeable. In this case to create the effect of a concrete room. However, I can't seem to find a way to do this. I tried adding inner glows, outer shadows etc, but can't soften the sharp line. See images attached. Any pointers would be welcome, Regards, Dan SHARP_EDGE_QUESTION.afdesign
  8. Hi, I'm new to Affinity designer, so apologies if this is obvious. I've created some documents for print - having set them up as CMYK/8. I then export them to pdf using the export command (Not rasterized). However, when I send them to my print company they say that they aren't CMYK. Is there a way to check? I thought that if a document was created as CMYK, that colour setting would pass through to the PDF? Any guidance would be welcome, Thanks, Dan
  9. Hi Gabe, Version English language keyboard, Microsoft sculpt Thanks, Dan
  10. Just to report as a follow up - the problem still persists after resetting.
  11. Hi Gabe, Yes, I thought it was a bit unusual. I've reset as you explained (I didn't have any custom settings anyway, so no loss there). As it stands it's working fine, but then it always does when I first start working. I'll see how it goes, but I may come back to you if the problem returns if that's ok, Thanks for your time, Dan
  12. Hi Gabe, Many thanks for getting back to me on this. When I say keyboard shortcuts, I just mean using the software as it comes - i.e. I only installed the software a month ago and haven't changed any of the settings or designated my own keyboard shortcuts. For example, I'm working away, zooming in and out using CTRL +, CTRL -, move V etc, and suddenly they all stop working. Do I need to go in to preferences for these preset shortcuts? Thanks again, Dan
  13. Hi, I'm new to Designer, and so far I'm finding it great to work with. However, for some reason every time I start the program all the keyboard shortcuts work, but within a few minutes they just stop - meaning I have to use the toolbars for everything. If I close down and restart, the shortcuts work again for a few minutes, but again just stop. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm running Affinity Designer for Windows Desktop. My PC is a new tower of quite high spec (which runs CAD software, zbrush etc without any problems). Regards, Dan
