Thank you for your reply. Although symbols are a very powerful feature is not what I would need to accomplish the task.
I work as 3D visualizer and sometimes I get from clients ready render where I need to put e.g. on a wall lines simulating wood panels, and here I would need a vector fill with the ability to change the size exactly like the Bitmap in the fill tool behave. I'm aware of the Procedural texture available in Photo beta, but I would love to have the vector power of that feature over Designer.
PhotoLine has this feature where the user can add/create any pattern and the objects will fill with it in a extremely easy way. Maybe it worth for you to check it out, because I'm an Serif products sucker
Could this topic be moved to feature request?

Because the Ctrl equivalent is right mouse button on Windows. So the shortcut would require holding RMB while you then click with RMB...
I wasn't aware of that feature until now, so we'll have to look at implementing a new shortcut on Windows.

I know we can duplicate an object to create hand made pattern but I can't then edit the repetitions like if is a bitmap fill.

I don't want to open a new topic for this. I just noticed that a new Photo Beta for Windows was released and in the changelog it says that the brush parameter change is Ctrl+Alt and in the mouse we need to keep pressed left and right button... you are using 40% of your fingers just to change interactively the brush size and hardness, not good at all.
I'm so sorry but this is far for comfortable and ergonomic, specially for people that suffers of the carpal tunnel were you keep pressure not in one but in two fingers. I hope this wouldn't be hardcoded and let the users customize the key binding as pleased.
I hope the developers read this and re-think about this decision. I would love to remap it to Ctrl+RMB for example.

I followed the guidance you gave me and it all worked.....Affinity photo all loaded on my Laptop.
just to confirm....
Will I be able to use the Affinity photo software to do my photo editing without being connected to the internet which is very much my preferrred option because of the risk of getting a virus ( I am paranoid having had one on my PC despite virus software which did a lot of damage)
If I can us it without connection which functions would not be accesible/usable

As discussed elsewhere, not all non-English keyboards include keys for those characters.

This post by rt-it (and it's subsequent replies) are in the Feedback section. The users here are asking for a new feature to be added or expressing surprise at the current feature set or functionality. That is the exact purpose of this forum section.
Your earlier post was hidden as you effectively told a user off for asking for a feature using the mechanism we have provided for users to do that, and was out of order. Your more recent post is much better as it explains why they may be disappointed when features are compared side by side, but I would suggest users can request whatever they like irrespective of how much Serif chooses to charge. Just because the Affinity Suite is "more than enough" for you does not mean that it is finished, or we would not have the feedback section.
Please do not post into the feedback section telling others that they are wrong to ask or expect changes. That is not what other customers should do.

I have been adopting AP little by little in my workflow. All my 3D post production is done here importing my .exr files. Only one thing still bugs me is the "magic wand" when selecting a color using the material/object ID, is way too limited and is not soft or antialiased like PS. I know that there is the selection refinement but for archviz this is not ok.
Now, when I try to use it for facades and floor plans is where AP falls behind since some basic tools are still missing, for example the bucket tool to read all the layers, vector fills, or create a vector object using the bucket tool to name a few. Although, I hope this tools gets improved over the time.
Sorry if I misspell some tools, I'm away from the computer and I don't remember the proper names .

It would be very nice if you could collapse all layers at once in the layers panel. Layers become very difficult to work with when you have many of them since selecting objects expands the parent layer, so you have to scroll back up and manually collapse them yourself.
Perhaps you could have it so that layers are only expanded for as long as the item within it is selected? That way, after deselecting an object, the layer expansion goes back to its previous state, which is ether expanded or collapsed. Am I making any sense?

I totally agree. Designer should have the option to fill any shape with e.g. dots without the extra work of making dots. 
I hope the feature is coming soon.
