wtrmlnjuc got a reaction from CHECHENO in “Full”/customizable UI someday?
As someone who likes to have a full, always floating UI on desktop in Designer and Illustrator without having to hunt for everything, will there be any option for supporting this on iPad? I spend so much time tapping around it frustrates me a little. I have a 12.9” Pro so screen real estate isn’t really an issue for me. For example, I’d love to have layers, colour, and typography always open adjacent to each other instead of one or the other in the Vector persona.

Hello I was prompted to fill out a feature request based on a review of Designer for IPad on ITunes.

The Eraser. It it would be great to have a dedicated vector based eraser. One that edits shapes just like the eraser in illustrator.  I understand why you have the pixel based eraser masking option.  It’s cool.  But it doesn’t actually allow me to edit my vector based shapes. And the workaround for splitting vectors with a line is cumbersome and awkward, and not what I am looking to do. All I want to do is clean up a weird shape edge here and there.  No need to reinvent the wheel, a simple eraser tool would be soooooooooo welcome.
Regarding Layers. Is there is any way to keep the parent layer open at the top of the layer palette and in view when a shape is selected with the node tool? When many multiple shapes (I’m talking 300+ sometimes) are nested inside a layer, it’s a total chore to have to swipe upward with the Apple Pencil for what feels like an eternity just to get to the parent layer in order to collapse it. If at any time I could click the down arrow and collapse the nested layers it would make navigating the layers palette so much easier. Again I hate to say it but Illustrator’s workflow here is so much simpler.
My hope/dream is that I use Designer for all of my vector based illustration work.  I would loooooooove to not have to use Illustrator or any Adobe product anymore.  Please Affinity, make Designer the Illustrator slayer I know it can be!
    Thanks.

    best,

hey everyone, i just wanted to say that i use AD for animation assets and without AI export i end up having to brake-down the svgs and rename 300-400 layers. even rudimentary illustrator format exporting would help me too :D

    Hi,
I've just downloaded the Affinity Designer trial, and am quite impressed. However, I am a design student and my school computers have adobe programs. As far as I can tell, I can't find any way of exporting Designer files as Ai files? I can see the option to export as psd, and I've tried to open Ai files using Designer with no problems - but I wanted to check whether there was a way of exporting to Ai that I had missed.
    Thanks

First, Affinity Designer is beautiful and extremely efficient tool. I like it!

I am doing design and artwork for front panels / operating panels of electric devices and machines. The drawings are available in DXF and / or DWG from Autocad (trademark). What would really speed up my workflow is the option to *import* DXF or DWG files.

Considering that these files can carry very complex information it would be sufficient to be able import only a single layer file or a single layer of such a file. This contains all mechanical data so I can be sure that the artwork will match the target device.

    Adobe Illustrator has this feature.

Export of DXF / DWG files is actually not required for this kind of work.

    Hi,
    It just is very practical

It would be beautiful if duplication would remember more modifications. e.g., vector shift, rotation, variable scales.
    best regards

Another addition that would be amazing would be a Glyph tab where to get all the special characters available from fonts. Similar to Illustrator and Indesign the explain it better.

    Hi,
I suppose this feature is already asked, but I can't located it. Anyway, there is need for such a default layer created automatically with any new document where we can easily control if they are shown/hidden, printable/unprintable, locked/unlocked... or simply drag an object to this layer to act as a guide.
