  1. By Jove, I think you've got it! Yes, the base texture was displaced - I didn't know those brushes even had a texture, so I simply removed it and voila! Thank you so much! I notice many brush sets specify pre or post Photoshop CS6 and my copy is CS4 - are textures a relatively new feature of brushes? Is it your experience that imported abr brushes should possess identical properties in Affinity and Photoshop or will much tweaking be required?
  2. I'm a couple of days into my free trial of Affinity (thinking of changing from Photoshop) and I've struck a problem. I think this might be a problem with my system and not a bug but I'd really appreciate anyone's take on this. Affinity Photo is running with all default settings. I've opened a default blank document, and all I'm doing is experimenting with brush settings. I've imported a set of custom .abr brushes (Aaron Blaise's foliage brushes). I've long used these in Photoshop, so I believe them to be good and uncorrupted. As you can see from the picture below, they're exhibiting very odd behaviour. The black brush strokes are native Affinity brushes and seem to be working fine, but the imported brushes are not operating as expected. The strokes labelled 1 act as if there is a mask cutting off the stroke at a certain level: I can't use that particular brush any lower on the screen than that. Area 2 is skipping random strokes: that should be a solid area of green but as you can see, it has gaps in it: the strokes won't fill those gaps in! Area 3 is similar to area 1, except the cutoff point is lower. Can anyone offer any suggestions please? I'm utterly baffled! Are there any known issues with imported brushes? Thank you. I'm running Affinity Photo (10 day trial) on Windows 7 Pro, using a Wacom Bamboo tablet. I have an i7 processor and an AMD Radeon HD 6950 graphics card. Graphics driver is up to date.
