I think you might be assuming that I rent Photoshop CC from Adobe rather than blowing the dust off of the old CS6 to extract already installed presets

I came looking for pretty much the same thing. I was about to embark on converting each Tool Preset to a Brush Preset, when I came across this script that others might find useful:

I'm not the author (thank you, gentagonal, whoever you are), and you'll be using it at your own risk. Having said that, it did a good job of brining across what I needed. The brushes still require some tweaks notably in texture scaling.

Apologies for the necrothread resurrection, but having come across this myself I thought I'd post the fix I found in case it helps anyone.
In my case I suspect the grey background I had came from opening an SVG in Designer that perhaps had a text box colour set. I couldn't find a way to remove this within Designer, but I could open the file in Publisher and go to the Text Frame panel in there. Remove, save, re-open in Designer.
I guess another option would be to use the StudioLink persona in Publisher to access the Designer tools. However, I'd love to see better text frame options directly in Designer in the future.
Questions on Canva acquiring Affinity

Additional to the licence concerns, Canva incorporates "AI". If this finds its way into Affinity products, it will deter me from any future upgrades. I would like to see an up-front statement that any AI is opt-in only and not used by default.
