Explosion/powder technique

Hi folks, I have been asked to redraw this logo and will have no issue with the majority of it. However, I am new to Affinity and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could create the red and grey exploding powder technique that is in the background of the attached logo? Any help would be hugely appreciated!!
