Helmar reacted to iuli in Free Halftone Dots Brushes, Color Chart and CMYK set-up
A preview of B&W strokes and their corresponding CMYK colors:
The Halftone Chart uses a traditional CMYK color palette with “absolute“ values (C:100, M:100, Y:100, K:100, everything else set to zero). Replace them with different values in the CMYK panel of each swatch, according to your needs. Set CMY to stronger values and K to lower value to avoid strong black patters.
A short video about setting a CMYK document plus the brushes in action:
ZIP includes Halftone Brushes, Color Palette, document setup, Color Chart folder with individual PNG pieces on transparent background (import them to document, set them to Multiply over the paper of your choice and save it yourself)
You can use and modify all the resources found here for personal and professional work.

Helmar reacted to Gnobelix in Spiral Tool
Waited a long time, but now it's here, the spiral tool.👍👍
Initial tests with the new tool are promising.
Thanks to the Serif team.
Cheers

Helmar reacted to Ash in Spiral Tool
Apps: All
Platforms: macOS, Windows and iPad
We have now added a spiral tool which is available from the shape tools flyout. This is something we have had many requests for, but also varying requests as to the type of result wanted. For that reason we have tried to make this as flexible as possible, both offering different types of spiral and variables to adjust.
When you create a spiral you will see from the context toolbar the different options available. Here are some examples of what you can create with the tool:
Spiral Type: Linear
Spiral Type: Decaying
Spiral Type: Semi-Circular
This type replicates the way many people have been creating a spiral in Affinity - effectively by joining decreasing semi circular arcs together. With this type we also offer a counter Semi-circular option which returns the spiral back on itself:
Spiral Type: Fibonacci
Spiral Type: Plotted

Helmar got a reaction from Oufti in Feature Suggestions for "Document - New". Was: How to move (multiple) items to a new category?
Feature suggestions:
Make those templates / categories import/exportable, and create a central repository, from which people can install them. So much easier than an individual effort to set them all up separately. Make the categories collapseable Change the order of the categories Hide categories. -
Helmar reacted to MentalFlight in The delete key don't working
Same here, backspace doesn’t work after upgrade to 2.2, but worked fine until 2.1.1. Never happened before 😕

Helmar reacted to tudor in The delete key don't working
My mistake, I should clarify that I was talking about the Backspace key on a Mac. After upgrading to 2.2 I could not delete anything with Backspace. Prior to the update I had a couple of custom keyboard shortcuts, so as the bug report says (PD-935), "some shortcuts are broken when upgrading from 2.1.1 to 2.2". I believe that's what happened on my computer.
Resetting the shortcuts to Serif Defaults restored the Backspace key functionality. Objects are now successfully deleted using either the Backspace key or the Delete key.

Helmar reacted to BlauerClaus in Tutorial on how to make a shape with inside lens effect (magnifier)
Hi guys,
This is a workaround tutorial. I have summarized the findings of this discussion thread in a short video tutorial. It shows a way how to make a shape, how to assign a distortion filter, how to adjust the effect within the shape and how to make the effect movable around the picture.
However, it also shows the limitations. It is currently not possible to directly associate a shape with a lens effect. Better would be:
that we could assign a live filter directly to a shape, that the life filter is moving its position relative to the shape Possibly, the Affinity Photo team can comment it?
Best regards
Blauer Claus

Helmar reacted to CUOFFICIAL in Affinity Designer 2 for macOS - (2.0.4)
Can you guys fix the issue with pinch zoom breaking on Affinity Designer 2 on mac? Almost every time I'm working on a project the pinch zoom (on trackpad) breaks and it really disrupts productivity.

Helmar reacted to walt.farrell in Double master pages allocation upon Shift-Click on Text-frame-flow
It is an intended capability that a page can have multiple Master Pages.
You can even see this in the Interface. When you assign a new Master Page to a page you have a choice of Replacing the prior Masters, or Adding it.
Yes, there is. A document page can have no Masters, 1 Master, or multiple Masters. This is all standard processing, in both V1 and V2.

Helmar got a reaction from MikeTO in Crashes upon duplicating master pages
Hi Mike,
after redoing the entire document in v1 without any hassles, I went back to v2. Created a new A4 landscape. Opened the Master page, added an image frame, five text frames, added some text, created 3 paragraph styles, then duplicated the master page, all without problems. Then switched between styles without issues, too. Yesterday it didn't honour my style selection (say from header to body text) but added the body text to the header, or the 2nd header to the 1st header. Made no sense to me. But now all is well, so it must have been a fluke.
I have now also opened the v1 document in v2 without problems and crashes. I'll see how it goes.
I'm running on Ventura on an Intel i5 (MBP 2017).

Helmar reacted to Aammppaa in Bug? Symbols not displaying/respecting stroke setting
A symbol is a type of container.
The container itself currently has no stroke or fill, only the curve contained within.
Consider a symbol containing 2 curves: one with a red fill and the other a blue fill. What should the symbol itself report? Red? Blue? Both?
You can assign a stroke or fill to the container, and that would override any strokes / fills of items within the container.
So, I don't think it is a bug, but rather a feature of how all containers (groups, compound groups, clipping groups, constraint groups, symbols, artboards, etc) work in Affinity.

I would say that ... yes you are really missing something... but I won't tell you what as I don't want to be banned from this forum...
Too bad people cannot be "upgraded"...

Helmar reacted to Zaxonov in No rewards for being an existing user...
I think the 40% discount is more than fair. Even if that's for everybody. Not rewarding v1 users is understandable for them to keep an attractive price for everyone with no subscription.

Helmar reacted to debraspicher in No rewards for being an existing user...
In the olden days, we would not have received 7-8 years of updates for any piece of software. Adobe certainly would not have given it another thought. We've been spoiled imo, but to each their own.
-
Helmar reacted to MarekGFX in No rewards for being an existing user...
Well, you can get a 40% discount right now, right? It is fair price for an upgrade. The only thing is that the discount is not privileged only to existing users but it is for everybody (including newcomers). I actually do not care if I am the only who gets the discount or everybody gets it Or am I missing something?

Helmar reacted to 276ccm in No rewards for being an existing user...
Seriously? The Affinity apps are so cheap, worth 10x more, no subscription.. if you paid way back, it´s defiantly time to do it again! Do you think it´s free to develop these programs?

Helmar reacted to NotMyFault in Mesh warp on text in need for improvement?
Undo works only for “commited” operations, which got an record in history panel. Having an adjustment UI open is a state in the middle, so i would not rate this as bug, as you might get into an undefined state (.e.g. undo removes the layer where you currently make an adjustment).
so you need to apply or cancel any started function, before you can use undo

Hi @Ronbo,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
We are aware of this issue which is already logged with development. Thanks for your feedback/report.

Helmar got a reaction from velarde in One time payment they said, free updates they said
For your info, I moved all my books from InDesign to Publisher/Designer, about half a dozen of them, then added another half a dozen in the suite. I got them all done, printed and published just fine - some with over 600 pages. Yes, there can be improvements, and I always posted them here in the forum. I'm happy to now have the book feature, footnotes and mesh warp. Very happy, in fact.
To use the word "shameful" about this inexpensive and well-supported software suite tells a lot about you, and it's not complimentary. If you're frustrated, get over it and use something else. I'm sure you'll find something that suits you. Bad-mouthing Serif isn't getting you anywhere and isn't doing yourself any favour either.
