Hi!

Coming from Figma and Sketch, I litterally can’t work without Symbols. Now, I have like 30 symbols to create… and I cannot believe I have to use the mouse to select an create each one of them.

Can you add a keyboard shortcut for Create Symbol command? Like Cmd + K…

While at it, it would be nice if we could add multiple Symbols at once with another keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Alt + K

Problem
Even the most organized designers may find themselves needing to redefine a number of elements as symbols. After all, there are deadlines, the all too easy to use Copy / Paste / Duplicate options and other scenarios that keep us from relying on symbols.  But what is worst is that to go back and reorganize these elements as symbols can also be daunting, because of large number of nested layers and each with their own unique locations. 
 
Solution
Introduce a function that takes any element and replaces it with a symbol in its place. The function intelligently uses the same X-Y coordinates of the object its replacing to position itself automatically.
 
Result
With a Symbol Replace option, a user can Create their Symbol, and then go anywhere in the document and replace those items that should be that symbol.
• No need to drag the symbol into the canvas.
• No need to position that symbol into the correct location manually.
• No need to nest that symbol in the layers studio.

in addition to what @steday suggests you do not neccessarily need to pin the image. You can simply copy and paste it inside the text. It then is treated like a letter. Baseline shift is the value to adjust accordingly.

If I understand correctly what you want, here the answer.

Happy to help, the last thing I've noticed is the context toolbar is missing, enable this by going to View > Show Context Toolbar. This will allow you to view and change tool settings.

It's possible that the app is just starting with the UI hidden, press the 'Tab' key or alternatively go to View > Toggle UI and this should hopefully make it visible again.

Looks like that has restored your Toolbar, however I can't see any of the default panels listed or the tools (might just have been cropped out of the screenshot). To get the panels back to their default states, try going to View > Studio > Untick Hide Studio/Reset Studio and to get the tools list back go to View > Show Tools.
Affinity will remember how you last had your panels/UI configured upon closing the software, uninstalling won't have an effect since these settings are stored within the ~/Library/Application Support/ folder which is a local folder, this doesn't get changed when the app is removed.

Yes it works fine, select the file on your Mac right click and select share then airdrop, assuming you have airdrop enabled on your iPad you should see a message like this appear, select the app and it will open it directly. You don’t need to do anything on the photos app apart from not having another document already open.
Edit: In this example I was using photos but it is exactly the same with designer
Edit2: The pop up window does not appear for an afdesign file but instead opened directly in Designer on the iPad.

Hi there! The data merge function is so crucial to me that I decided to create an account here to add my +1 to this thread.
I am happy user of Affinity Design/Photo and I would be so glad if I can switch to Affinity Publisher. Unfortunatelly that is not possible without the data merge funcionality.
Is there a way how to be notified once you add this function?
