Well technically the working file is held on the desktop screen and I renamed it there while the Affinity file was still being active and open. So when I close the Affinity workspace the file didn't Save - logical really! MacOSX 10.13.6 High Sierra. Affinity is the latest V1.9.1.

Hi, the issue may be connected to the naming convention - I was able to recreate the issue. While I'm creating/working all the images being accessed/used are held on the desktop (mainly for quick convenience and I can see them visually), I also use a leading prefix ie: AATheClouds so all files/images appear at the top of a desktop list - if I change the .affn file prefix on the desktop from say AA to BB - when I later try to close the Affinity File I get the 'Failed to Save document' problem. This may be happening in Designer as well. My solution is to Save and close the .affn file THEN rename it and open it from source location.

Hi, Only working from the internal HD and do not move files around while working on art work. Have been using Affn Photo as prime software for 2 years now and this has only occurred recently. Not sure if its due to the 1.9.1 update or not. I regularly 'save' while working out of habit. When the 'Failed to Save document' problem occurs, I can close that file but the save is some time back. When saved as psd (if the problem occurs) it opens to current work space. Problem seems to be sporadic !?!. Just worked for 2 hours with no issues and saved correctly (ie: the current workspace) Big fan of Affinity BTW.

Affn Photo v1.9.1 on mac OSX10.13.6 not saving files when trying to Save when closing down Affinity Photo. Can Save as .psd then reopen and save as .affn and all is ok but first attempt gives the drop down message - "Failed to save document: Save failed because the file cannot be found." The original working file location had not been moved. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue.
