prophet got a reaction from HydroJLW in Request: Auto Select All Child Layers
Currently doable with the disable Edit All Layers and then Select All suggestion made above,
But I can see how a quicker option could be useful. I'm in favor of it.
Selecting individual object from inside different "containers" seems to be more complicated.

prophet got a reaction from albertkinng in How to export in PDF with all curves intact?
Further inspection seems to point to how you are masking the individual pieces.
It appears you group elements together and then use a curve and "Mask to Below" to mask the group. I switched to just nesting the groups within the curve instead and that seems to have cleared up the rasterization (I also removed the gradients)
Not sure I can adequately explain why, but it seems to work.

prophet got a reaction from Red Al in Scale Picture Frame + Contents with Any Handle
Well, this old dog doesn't see the "special features" as so special. Must just be my workflow preference, but having content within a frame in a perpetual state of "centered" or "stretched to fit" feels very awkward. I'd much rather have the key commands at the ready to make those constraints happen at my convenience.
As for that odd rotation and scale thing using "Ctrl", the more I use it, the more I think it's some leftover or bad coding. We've already got the rotation ability at the corners when the cursor is nearby. And we even have the "Ctrl" modifier to rotate from the opposite corner. So why is rotation included when selecting the corner directly? Direct corner selection should only give frame resizing and scaling options. Ditch the floating scale handle and just have direct corner selection have a scaling action available with a modifier.

prophet got a reaction from DarkClown in Snapping dragged curve points
That does not seem to have an effect.
Indeed, where you grab the curve does affect how the curve will look, but I think what's really happening when you drag the curve is you are adjusting the rays of the nodes at either end of the curve. You can adjust these independently, but when you pull the curve, you are manipulating them both simultaneously.
I don't disagree. And if we can get that to happen, I would also be in favor of making the rays themselves follow snapping protocols.

prophet got a reaction from walt.farrell in Open v1 doc in v2 - placed PDFs cause crash and export fail
Thanks @walt.farrell. I did my best to search the forum for an existing issue, but as both those referenced placed PSD and EPS files, I didn't locate the topics.
Hoping the next release solves the issue, though now that I know what to look for, I can do a quick review of my files and see if anything is missing.

prophet got a reaction from Gemini80 in Resizing objects leads to buggy behavior? Can anyone explain this?
That's just the geometry of triangles as it relates to stroke miter, but I wouldn't over think it. As @loukash said…

@R C-R's seems to be the simplest solution.

prophet got a reaction from loukash in Convert Shape to Text Frame Loses Stroke and Fill
Sad that a rare helpful bug is now broken. The Text Frame button still appears in the Context Toolbar, but clicking it does nothing.

Hm. Turns out they "fixed" the part that didn't need "fixing", but still left the now useless Text Frame button on the context toolbar.

prophet got a reaction from Markio in Global layers
As I mentioned earlier…
@Old Bruce Would that be a workable solution?
In my work, I generally don't avail myself of Artboards in Designer. The only practical advantage I see in them is multiple "pages" with different sizes, but I can do that in Publisher anyway. That said, I think your first example would have be the way to go rather than the second option.
An excellent use case for Global Layers.

And how did you do it? Just to bring some closure to the discussion here.

prophet got a reaction from loukash in Opaque white boxes appearing in transparent background on PDF export
Off hand, I'd say those layers set to "Erase" blend mode are forcing some rasterization. And possibly the FX making the gradients. Best to make the design out of only the vectors pieces you want to be seen and using proper gradient fills rather than FX.

prophet got a reaction from Jens D. R. in Affinity 2.0 and Mojave
Typing this with sweaty palms as at this very moment I am upgrading my 2019 iMac from Mojave to Ventura. v2 finally has the necessary tools to let me cut the cord from Adobe.
Got this old Macbook Air running High Sierra as my backup machine should anything go horribly wrong. (maybe shouldn't have attempted this during my lunch break at work, but if not now, when?)
Wish me luck.

prophet got a reaction from The Shark in PDF Black Overprint "fixed" with extra Adjustment Layer
Synthesizing my own discovery of the Adjustment layer forcing the overprint to remain black instead of converting to 4 color, along with @Dazmondo77's clever notion of grouping an object with itself to make the multiply work, plus @loukash's inspiring work ethic of exhaustive testing as seen in many, many threads, here's my viable workaround. It has the distinct advantage of keeping the drop show "live" with no need to rasterize anything or use "K only".
Duplicate object needing outer shadow. Create outer shadow making sure to use 100 K (kind of ridiculous we have to double check this, but it's important) Optional step of unchecking "Fill knocks out shadow" and setting "Fill Opacity" to 0% (makes layer thumbnails reflect the workflow more accurately) Add Adjustment Level (No need to make any actual adjustments, just need the layer. I use Levels) Group shadowed object with itself and set the Group to Multiply Group shadowed object with the original so you can manipulate them together. This works for Press Ready and X-4 PDFs
But it does not work with placed AFPhoto images (WTF?!?!)
It's been a heckuva ride and hopefully these hacks will all break soon in a new release that doesn't require them anymore.

prophet reacted to RPC in Global Effects / FX
In the same way there are global colors, it would be nice if there were global effects / FX.
That way it would be easy to adjust and easily keep standardized things like drop shadows and blur across a wide range of objects all at the same time.

I heard rumours, that the price will be calculated from your reputation score here on the forums, which means e.g. @walt.farrell gets (loads of) money from Serif.
