I would hope to see a double esc key to return to a selection tool

When entering distance from text in text fields, the tab button does not go to the next field as you would expect. I would prefer ti to go to next field.

Will master page have a smart sense to put page number to the left or right of the page so we don;'t have to assign a master page manually that has one side or the other? This can be extremely difficult to manage when page get over 10 or 20. I would prefer to have a smart tag to know if it on a odd or even number so the page number can be placed on left or right of the page whether that is in the footer or header. Same with the book title or chapter names. Of course I would still want a book coordinator same as PagePlus to combine chapters and index coordinator.

Scaling factor of text frame

Selecting a 400 line ascii text and pasting it into publisher will put it into a space that can not be selected or moved or resized it appears. I doubled clicked on the text here and hit alt a for select all. There are no handles that can be selected for moving or resizing text. -
Scaling factor of text frame

Thanks Chris but I get some inconsistent results and not sure of the procedures for copying but it looks like when I select a text frame in pageplus9 then paste it into publisher, it places the objects as a group, which I don't like as the text is separated and can deform. There is no way this will be helpful to me. -
Importing pdf into Publisher
jboone replied to jboone's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on Windows threads
Thanks dominik but my main problem is trying to get text out of pageplus 9. I heard that the only method for doing it is to export it as pdf then bring it in that way. There are a lot of images in my tech guide with 250 pages which I have been working since 2011. It breaks the text in ways that will make it impossible to get any good length of text out. As I discover, there are also bugs with bringing text by copy or past methods either and try to keep any semblance of formatting. Can you recommend a method for extracting out of pageplus? -

I will also say that I selected the text frame and tried to bring it in many ways with the same squeezing. Selecting the text inside the text frame had a very different and unexpected result and brought it in as an unselectable chunk of random text area. -

That sure sounded good Walt but it came in exactly the same way, text without formatting. -
Delete key does not remove a text frame
jboone replied to jboone's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on Windows threads
Ok JFisher I will give you that one. I noticed a blinking bar after I selected the frame but this goes back to my other comment of releasing the tool after an action of at least release it back to selection tool with double escape. -

Scaling factor of text frame

I do see that when raw text is brough from a text editor that the behaviour is not the same so I have to wonder what sort of things the copy buffer is grabbing and why it would read the text from page plus text frame differently. The work flow from page plus is compounding itself to be very very difficult transition. Exact in a lot of ways but becoming impossible to interject. -
The old behaviour I am used to page plus x9 and below is that the text would not squash when I tried to make the frame taller or squeeze it when making it wider. Working as designed I am sure, but I personally don't like it. Perhaps consider a control key when users want to squeeze and squash text. Text frames are a huge part of what I write in and gives me all the control I could ever want. This goes beyond assigning a specific size to text and expecting it to be the same throughout the document when the text frame is sized differently than its respective chapters. By the way, I tried this on text that was copy pasted into a frame, from page plus. There should also be one corner that that will have none perspective movement, or axis locking what ever it is called.

Importing pdf into Publisher
jboone replied to jboone's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on Windows threads
Well then let me say this. I use Autocad and someone wrote a macro that allows users to select a bunch of individual text and splice them together as one paragraph. Yes, even if the string of text were before separated by a paragraph marker, I realize this would be impossible to detect, so stringing any selected text together would be the only option available and later the user would have to put a carriage return in the string to make it a paragraph. So given this is our only option to import from the old page plus books or chapters, I can't see it would be much help to me to make this book viable to publish for how ever many years. I am asking for the text I have selected to be brought in as a text frame to lesson the drudgery of importing 225 pages of existing page plus work I have spend years developing. As a side note I tried to import the text frames from page plus 9 and it only imported as single line text, split and oriented to the same positions it was placed on the page of page plus. This too is an impossible work flow to make my book work with the new publish. The text was copy pasted from x9 to publish and the text font was also shrunk and squashed so the font didn't look any similar to what was in x9.
