  1. Not exactly sure how to call this "feature" but I think in Illustrator it was called "Isolation Mode". What I want to be able to do is, for example, enter a group and drag a selection over a few elements without interfering with background elements. Without, obviously, having to lock them previously. Is there something to accomplish this? It seems like a really basic feature and it's essential to my workflow. How do you guys deal with this type of situations?

    [AD] Isolation Mode

I understand that the features are decided by the dev team. What I don't understand is why after so much time we still don't know if this has been at least considered, if it's totally out of question or any other "official" stand on this feature. For the past 3 years, you've been suggesting the same solution to anyone that asks about it, while that "solution" is really not an alternative at all. Sorry for the rant, I know you're not the one to blame, but it's a bit annoying that this has been ignored for such a long time.

    [AD] Isolation Mode

Hey @MEB, it's been almost 3 years since I created this tread and unfortunately this feature hasn't been added yet, and apparently won't be anytime soon. Can I ask why a feature that has this many replies (and thread views) isn't considered as a common feature request? I don't see it on this list: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10410-common-feature-requests-index/ Also, why isn't this feature considered for implementation if it's clearly lacking?
  4. I'm having the same issue. The adjustment layers are ignored on export. Any ideas?

    [AD] Isolation Mode

Yeah, I also appreciate cleaner ways of working. But I think the "isolation mode" would just add to that. Any how, let's hope Affinity is listening and some day we might get it. :) Glad you liked ProCamera2D (All icons and art is made with AD)! ;)

    [AD] Isolation Mode

Thanks for the video! The scenario is simple: The ability to select elements of a group that have other overlapping elements outside of that group. With the "isolation mode" in Illustrator you can achieve it in a few clicks. In AD, you have to manually lock the other groups/elements or manually pick the ones you want resulting in multiple clicks, depending on how many elements you have.

    Yes, that is correct.

    [AD] Isolation Mode

Thanks for your opinion. Although, I'm not sure how the features you listed compensate for the lack of an "isolation mode". On this video I posted above (https://dl.dropboxus...oup_example.mp4) how would you do to select the shapes from the group inside the drag area?

    [AD] Isolation Mode

I wish there was a way to bring more attention to this problem or at least some kind of indication this is being worked on or considered. I honestly don't know how people can work without it on semi-complex projects.

    Anything Menu (Like sublime text)

"CMD + Shift + /" will do exactly what you're asking, like mentioned above.

    [AD] Isolation Mode

MEB, the problem is that when doing that, it will select all objects and not only the ones inside the group I'm currently at. See this video: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/883485/affinity_designer_group_example.mp4

    [AD] Isolation Mode

I haven't been doing any graphical work lately, but this feature is pretty essential to me. Not sure why there's not more people complaining about the same thing.

    Project Cuba - Jacqueline

Hey, Just did a new character for my game (Project Cuba) using Affinity. She's the wife of the guy on the left. :) My style for this game involves adding highlights/shadows areas and the "auto-masking" makes it a breeze. I honestly think it took me less than a 1/3 of the other character mostly because of this feature! Hope you like it! :)

    Sort resolution slices per folder

For anyone interested in the same thing (or similar) I ended up doing it as a shell script and it worked pretty great. You can always do an Automator Service so you can trigger it with a right-click on the folder. I'm sure there are easier/shorter ways to do it but this is working fine. :) #!/bin/bash # Creates folders to sort files exported by Affinity Designer mkdir -p images mkdir -p images/2x mkdir -p images/3x for file in ./*2x.png do if [ -f "$file" ] then newName=$(basename ${file/@2x}) mv $file images/2x/$newName fi done for file in ./*3x.png do if [ -f "$file" ] then newName=$(basename ${file/@3x}) mv $file images/3x/$newName fi done for file in ./*.png do if [ -f "$file" ] then mv $file images fi done

    Save as opening format

+1 This is definitely one thing that makes a lot of sense. Having to export every time I open a PSD (instead of just saving it) is a pain.

    Project Cuba - Jacqueline

Due to the amazing response on this thread ended up writing an article about this character and a kind of review of Affinity Designer. http://luispedrofonseca.com/new-tool-new-character/ Once again, thanks everyone! More information about my game coming soon. :)

    Project Cuba - Jacqueline

Thank you all so much! Wasn't expecting such a good reaction. :) É bem verdade. Parece que ainda somos alguns por aqui. Portugueses na linha da frente no afundanço da Adobe! :P I'm using the incredible Spine by EsotericSoftware. Take a look, it's pretty amazing!

Thanks!! You're definitely right retrograde... :)

    Project Cuba - Jacqueline

Thanks guys! Really glad you liked it! :)
  20. Yeah, I find this particular aspect a bit confusing to be honest but I'm sure you guys will figure out something more intuitive :) Regarding Project Cuba, glad you liked it! I recently did a new character using AD and it was SO much faster! A blog post is coming soon about it ;)
  21. The title pretty much sums it up... I cannot figure out how to set the default fill and line for new shapes. In my opinion it should grab the settings of the last previous selected shape. But currently is being set to something different randomly and I cannot figure out why or how.
  22. It does! Thank you! Just one more question... How do I set the "Document Defaults"? To me always goes to no line with grey fill. Is it possible to set this?
  23. That works but seems a bit confusing to me. I think it would make more sense to just use the fill that's set and not relying on that obscure "Use fill" setting. Also, after restarting the software the "Use fill" is forgotten and resets to off. Can you please explain me what those "Synchronize defaults" and "Reset defaults" button do?
