  1. I just purchased Affinity Photo for iPad and for the life of me I can't find the healing brush! Where is it?
  2. After a successful export, when opening the export dialog again, all settings are remembered just not the "Area" selection field, it always resets back to "All Spreads"
  3. Amazon KDP needs such pdfs.. no transparencies... pdf/X ... that's millions of books... I'm struggling myself at the moment. I tried all export variants there are in Affinity Publisher 1.9.0 and still can't meet Amazon's requirements. It's like I'm almost ready to switch over to MS Word to be able to produce a pdf 😅
  4. I usually copy text in APu and paste it in Ulysses, which does the word/character count. It would be useful to have that little stats window in APu as well
  5. Is there anything I could optimise in this preferences to reduce the fast battery drain?
  6. I have a similar problem. Whenever I open an AP file I get the long list of pop-ups, then I need to go to Resource Manager, highlight all images, click on Update, wait 2-5 minutes, then I can work. I save, next time I open: the same problem. It's really annoying.
  7. I was on the airplane a few days ago (12 hours flight) and wanted to get some work done with Affinity Publisher. I have a MacBook Pro 2018 13 inch with battery cycle count 166 condition normal. Battery went from 100 % full to empty in less than 2 hours, with Wifi turned off and screen brightness at 4 dots (maybe 20 %). All other apps closed (apart from Apple Pages and Finder). I was quite disappointed since I could not get much work done. I tried that again at home and battery drained equally fast. You can almost watch the battery indicator count down. Simple text editing in AP, nothing fancy. Is this an issue? How is it even possible to drain the battery that fast? I think not even FCPX can drain the battery that fast. Will this be addressed in a future update? Are there some preferences I could change to slow down the fast drain?
  8. Did you try restarting your computer? I had a similar issue and after restarting it was decently fast again.
  9. I did a restart of my MacBook Pro and now it's much better. Wouldn't say it's speedy like Adobe InDesign, but definitely a lot better than before the restart. I think I should have done a restart of my MacBook after the upgrade from AP 1.7 to 1.7.3
  10. I'm currently lay-outing a book on AP 1.7.3, MacBook Pro 13 " 2018, 16 GB RAM, 6x9 inch page size, simple text layout, nothing fancy, and about 50 images, images linked. Now at page 65. Right from the start there was a delay between keypress and letters being typed on the screen. Now with every page AP becomes slower, slower to safe, slower to show up after switching to other apps, in general everything is slower than just 20 pages ago. How many pages can I still add before having to start a new document? Or should I break the book up after 40 pages? My book will have about 80 pages in total, will AP be able to handle all 80 pages? Thanks
  11. Can someone tell me how too prevent this behaviour? When I resize the picture frame then the image inside violently jumps to it's original size. When I press command+Z (undo) the picture disappears. Not recoverable. I need to delete the picture frame, link the image again. What's going on? Untitled.mov
  12. Same challenge here... can't find the supposedly overflow text... 49 pages here... ok this is not a helpful comment for support I realise that... hm.. there's a little rectangle on one page in the right upper corner, I can't highlight or delete it... maybe that's what's causing the trouble?
  13. ok this did the trick! thanks ! btw, there might be a chance that I did it wrong the whole time, my fault, not AP... anyways, now it works!
  14. Argh, I tried to reproduce it on a new document and it does work. But it doesn't in the big file I'm working on. Tragic. I don't want to reset...
  15. Lucky you, for me on the Mac when I chose "Replace.." in the Resource Manager it replaces all instances, not just the highlighted one. Also dropping pictures into picture frames doesn't seem to work.. (AP 1.7.3, MacOs 10.14.6)
  16. When I copy a picture frame with linked images I can see the entry in the Resource manager gets another line. The frames now work like clones, impossible to link a new picture to the new frame, because it will always re-link the picture in all frames. Is there a way to copy a frame without this behaviour? Or do I have to create an entirely new one from scratch for each picture?
  17. I can't seem to get Find and Replace to only look in my highlighted selection. Instead it seems to run from the beginning of the document. Also, I can't find a way to select "in current selection" (like MS Word has a checkbox right next to the find edit field). I see that there's many things to select from (Paragraph styles etc), but what am I missing?
  18. I made the "mistake" to buy Affinity Publisher directly from Affinity, and Affinity Designer via the App Store. Now this is a mess, since a. Affinity Publisher does not know anything about Affinity Designer (see screenshot, both apps are open but don't know each other) and b. in the App Store I can only update Affinity Designer. Two questions: 1. How can I clean up this confusing situation? 2. Also, I'm thinking about purchasing Affinity Photo, where should I buy it?
  19. I couldn't figure it out at first, but then I drew a fresh line and suddenly it worked. Don't know how to delete this post, sry. no_curve.mov
  20. Just ran into this feature request. Coming from InDesign I was looking for linked files in Designer, just now, that I updated one of my image files and wondered how I can reload that in Designer. Maybe a far stretch? Would be nice to have though. +1
  21. John Gibson, you could give monthly, substantial donations to Serif. I'm sure Serif will tell you their PayPal. I find the crowdfunding idea interesting too. Just this morning I received a popup banner from WeekCal, the calendar app I've purchased and been using for years now on iOS. They asked me to switch to a subscription based model. I was thinking: oh my, them too? If they change to a subscription based model I need to change software, EVEN THOUGH I've paid for their software. For hardware, companies in most western countries need to give a warranty for a certain amount of time. For some it's 2 years, others 10. Different for different categories and countries. If the released product is faulty, they need to take it back or replace it. With software that's simpler than with hardware. However, if BMW releases a new car, this doesn't mean that everyone is getting a free upgrade. A customer can sell his old BMW, and upgrade to a new one. Some people ride their cars 2 years, others 20 years. I find this "forced subscription or shut down" model is not to my liking and not within my financial abilities. Maybe some people can afford it, I can't. I had to say good bye to Adobe upgrades (even though I loved the software), goodbye to Ulysses upgrades (I run my old version, plus purchased Scrivener), and maybe I need to say good bye to WeekCal (but can hopefully continue to use my current version). Also, I don't understand why everyone needs to get filthy rich. Aren't there enough rich people who store their money overseas and are useless to society already? I think it's possible to run a great company, have great income, and that's that. No need to lose ground contact. I'm sure that's possible with a user base of a couple of tens or even hundred thousand customers.
  22. I love my CS3. It's so simple! Clean, easy to use. Everything is just there and works and is self explanatory. When I downloaded the QuarkXpress 2018 demo a week ago I couldn't even figure out how to start a book project. I gave up after 15 minutes, moved the whole thing into the paper bin. Unfortunately CS3 doesn't support retina displays, plus I don't have a portable license. My CS3 is basically sentenced to live and die on my MacBook Air 2011. Will start with a book cover project on my new MacBook Pro in Affinity Publisher beta tonight. Really looking forward to it.
  23. I like the new icons, they integrate nicely in the dock. The only critique I could have is that they are bigger than most other icons. But then, I usually run them in full screen, so that makes sense.
  24. Just a small comment I need to drop: Holy cow, this is one of the most supportive and friendly forums I've ever been on, didn't expect that. Thumbs up!
  25. I don't think I can create IDML in InDesign CS3, QuarkXpress however does only import IDML, not INDD, so I'm kind of stuck there with INDD. My only other option is INX, which I don't even know what that is. Or I go by pdf and have to basically redo all pages and image placements.
