    I miss this Illustrator-function.
Input: Overlapping shapes with different colors and blend modes.
Output: Cut out shapes for each intersected part affected by colors below, color equivalent in normal blend mode. (No rasterizing, no pixels.)

Indeed, the new version seems to have the stabilty of a house of cards, one click too far and the whole lot crashes down.

Is it me or is the new version quite unstable?, 1.8 was pretty solid but 1.9 is very very prone to crashing. So much so that I'm about to go back to 1.8. I can't say it's one particular thing that causes the crash, anywhere in the program and it will lock up and crash out with no warning which is very annoying.

I just installed, Feb. 27, 2021, the new release, Rel 1.9.1, and it still crashes, same as 1.9.0.
When will this issue be solved?

Such self-important arrogance. If this is the kind abusive, do-it-our-way-or-sod-off response people can expect when they come here for help, maybe I should stop recommending Affinity software.

    ***Affinity feature requests***
    * Having a Hex color Input box on "HSL color wheel" dialog box.
    * Global Gradient Swatches. Are they this hard to implement in affinity software...it's been 3 years almost and the top design app for mac still doesn't support global gradient swatches, why is that?
    * Dynamic Styles. Yes, a workaround for this is using a symbol but having a dynamic style instead of using a Symbol can be used in many areas, means, i can implement a dynamic style with shadows and glow to a circle, a rectangle, a polygon...while having ability to manipulate and watch effects like shadows taking change on multiple objects in real time. You get the idea, right? Specially for Ui/Ux designers.
    * Symbol lock (Sometimes we end up making changes to symbols only to zoom out and realizing those changes impact symbols on the entire page. Hence a special symbol locking mechanism would be very welcomed
where we can lock symbols so that they can be moved and resized but cannot be modified or implement changes to their appearances)
    * PDF, Word documents (and i suspect some other document types) could not be set as linked like various image formats. They remain embedded and could not be linked which clutter the affinity document thus increasing file size.
    * It's impossible to separate/group swatches within a swatch category, please do something about it
    * Shape builder tool (We all know it how much us designers are craving for this handy dandy boolean operation tool. come on team serif
    * We can create separate grids for separate artboards, but we cannot set different grid line color for each cardboard. Suppose if i change grid line color or opacity to "green" on one artboard, all other artboards also
have same grid line color and opacity. This gets troublesome when we have multiple artboards with different grids and you have to jump in between.
    * Shape Blend tool (least priority but essential tool)
    * Mirroring tool (I get the idea to use symbols as workaround for mirroring but wont a separate tool make tasks a lot easier for logo/graphic designer?)
    * Functionality to add more Api within Affinity software to grab assets from websites, just like unsplash is the only one currently supported. (https://developer.flaticon.com/landing)
    * When exporting an artboard, the default filename should be the name of the artboard. For bonus points, a way to export multiple artboards (from the same document, with the same settings) at once would also be very helpful.
    * Export Persona (or something that make exporting easy) for Publisher as well.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this thread. Also, if you found my post/thread/content contributing and containing genuine new feature requests do mention and share your views. it'll make my day 😃

simon.widmer reacted to Aloof in Multiple UI palette columns
    Hi,
for layouting and big monitors it's helpful to have multiple UI palette colums. Since you already seem to have decided on this multitude of open palettes as opposed to a more contextual approach, you should allow us to stack them the way we want. I would use Pages, Paragraph and Character Styles (and hopefully soon Object and Table Styles) and everything else as columns.
This is a pretty significant limitation of your current UI in all Affinity programs.

simon.widmer reacted to Paulie_CZ in Object styles suggestion
Hi, Publisher is awesome. Only thing i miss, is Object styles. Similar as paragraph and text styles. I often use pre-defined sizes of text frames, with linked paragraph and text styles. For example - i need to create several frames 10x6 cm with 0,8 cm margins on one A4 format list with 0,5 points border. It minimizes the time i spend with creating frames, and only thing i need is to fill them with text. I could copy and paste text frames and fill them with text, but it is not as elegant as using object styles.
Thank you for publisher anyway, its realy great. And I appologise for my english. :)

Hi, just downloaded Affinity Publisher Beta , (been waiting a long time for this release) and there is not the ability to create Hyperlinked pdf's, not sure if this is because it is a Beta or not, but in my workflow I regularly publish Hyperlinked PDF's and this would be a fundamental feature for me and many others . At the moment I do this using Keynote and its a great little software, but as I have Designer and Photo and hopefully publisher soon I could contain my whole workflow in the Affinity platform, so please please please include the ability to publish Hyperlinked PDF"s

simon.widmer reacted to BennyD in Please add proxy icons (core macOS file handling functionality)
    Hey,
there's a feature in macOS which I know is quite hidden but it's very very very useful, once you are aware of. Bad enough that it is missing in affinity photo and designer.
In all finder windows and most apps which deal with files it's possible to do some basic file handling actions from the window title where the file icon is located. Doing a right click lets you go directly to the path where the file is located. Dragging the file icon lets you move or copy the file to another place.
Here's a very quick video attached but you should try this handling yourself and you will see, how it boosts your productivity.
Btw. this function exists from the first day of mac OS X. Would be nice if you add this because it's so so basic.

simon.widmer reacted to Przemysław in Default colour profiles depending of interface language
Will it possible to change default Colour Profiles, depending on different language of interface selected?
At the moment default settings are set U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) which is OK in US, but everywhere else other standards are used.
For European languages (including English UK) Coated FOGRA39 should be set as default for printing, it's also ISO standard. I think, it would be nice when selecting French, German or English UK interface language, default Colour profile for new documents will automatically change to the correct one. Adobe software has a similar European set of settings for print and web.
It's a minor thing, but I hope developers will look into it.

simon.widmer reacted to Daniel Gibert in tab to navigate pane fields
This is a general issue on the three apps from Affinity, maybe not a bug but a "not a feature" but is a nasty issue.
When you change a setting in a pane, on most cases, you can't use tab key to go to next field. Yes, it works good on the color mixer, but don't work in almost any other panel. You change a field, and the next tab is interpreted as a regular tab instead of going to the next field. That means than most of the time I end with the studios hidden because tab hide it instead of going to next field.
Is the only set of apps I know that doesn't let you navigate fields using tab key and forcing to make a click in each field that you need to modify. I don't know why, because the color mixer works well, so it is clear that is feasible feature.
Only other exception is in dialogs, that works because you are on a window and can't go anywhere until you close it.

Looks very handy indeed. Well done.

But I am still waiting for these important features that never found their way into DrawPlus either - so I am still using Inkscape and clumsy clumsy Illustrator CC for designing logos and shapes:
handles snapping to especially grid and guides (just check out how Inkscape does) snap the node handle to a vertical / horizontal alignment and other angles (just check out how Inkscape does) I just read the book "Vector Basic Training: A Systematic Creative Process for Building Precision Vector Artwork" by Von Glitschka. His techniques allow you to draw precise or symmetric shapes very very fast. When I read the book in 2011 I had just purchased DrawPlus and was surprised of the poor snapping features in DrawPlus - it made no sense. The tips in the book are hard and often impossible to follow. Well you can if you zoom in and make adjustments with your shaking hand and manual aligning. It just takes ages compared to automation. That is what we have software for, right? Then Affinity Designer surfaced and I was again surprised that these features were promised since 2014. You are SO close to being awesome. Please walk the last meters towards the goal! It is just the core of shape design that the software can assist your shaking hand and guarantee precision and symmetry.

I know this was requested and discussed in other threads - just making my voice heard here as well. And I hope the wait will be over once 1.7 arrives. Pleeease. Otherwise I enjoy the user interface and aesthetics of  Designer much more than the competition. Almost there Ben.

Merry xmas and happy new hear!
