    Both issues are sadly still present in version 1.9.1.979 (despite some Resource Manager bug fixes related to the Update button)

    Hi Serif,
    Affinity Publisher 1.9.0.932 1.9.1.979 on Windows 10 20H2, fully updated. Hardware Acceleration turned OFF.
    Using Replace... buton on PDF linked resource in Afpub Resource Manager results into only last frame populated with the replaced resource, the replaced resource has distorted proportions (both replaced and original PDF have exactly the same dimensions), the rest of originally populated  frames are empty Selecting all frames populated with PDF linked resources, hitting Replace Image button in the Context Toolbar results in first image replaced correctly, but all the remaining frames populated with replaced PDF with distorted proportions.

    UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers)
    The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Publisher).
    If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Windows Store purchases and needs a product key).
    If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

    There's a potential fix for this that should be in the next beta, but it's obviously subject to testing, etc.

    Red signifies the starting node. The shapes indicate the type of node; round for Bézier (smooth), square for Sharp, & round with a dot for Smart.

    There are some illustrations of this in the included help system: open Affinity Designer Help from the Help menu (Mac); click on "Drawing Lines & Shapes" > "About lines & shapes" to see them.

    round = "smooth" bezier handles
    round with dot in center = "smart" bez handles
    square = sharp corner
    red (of all three) = the head (or tail (depending on how you look at it)) of the spline segment.

    Thank you for all these explanations.  I was actually hoping not to have to use Excel to prepare the graph for each value:
    x=260.44×360 ÷ 1041.74
    x=104,17×360 ÷ 1041.74
    etc.
    In short, this could be a suggestion for an extension to quickly reproduce all graphs Excel style.

    Yeah, i think Publisher/Designer are more about design itself then working with databases, but i would use that approach, like v_kyr said:

    Edit: If you don't care about the design... save a pdf or svg in excel and import it...

    From 3 pm GMT on Thursday 24th December 2020 until 9 am GMT Monday 4th January 2021 the Serif company is officially closed. There will be some light coverage of the support channels during these 12 days, but most staff are taking time off whilst the offices are closed. Customer Service and Technical Support tickets will take priority and queries about bugs and beta builds will be picked up in the New Year. Unusually, the way the year has panned out a number of staff have not been on holiday for obvious reasons so some are also taking annual holiday now before this company closure, and so it is fair to say that from this week there will be fewer staff here on the forums.
    Please bear with us if you contact us during this time and potentially for a short time after the annual closure, whist we deal with any backlog.
    Thank you in advance for your patience and we will make every effort to address your queries in the shortest time-frame possible.

    StainX reacted to astypefonts in Publisher need an own / private font directory
    Like InDesign and Illustrator, Publisher would benefit from a own (private) font directory. If you work with a lot of fonts you don't want them to be installed. But with a watched folder you can access the fonts you need for the current projects. It would help font developers too to test the fonts with Affinity products too.
    the directory path could be .../Affinity/Common/Fonts - in future Designer and Photo could access them too.

    Or, instead of embedding fonts, do the same as ID: the app can import fonts if they are in a special folder named "Document fonts" and placed with the document. It's really helpfull, especially when needing to open archives on an external hard drive or from a server. You open the file, copy what you need, modify, etc., close the file and it's done without complication.

    StainX reacted to Nazario in Placing PDF File Will Interpret It
    Obviously I meant apps that treat the PDF as it was meant to be treated. i.e. honour embedded fonts etc. This was all fine until some bright spark thought 'hey lets allow editing' and other developers didn't want to be left behind on feature set. Now its just a big bag of hurt again and a new 'PDF' format is required that can't be messed with so we're back where we started sending fonts and images back and forth.
    As a publisher, if a client sends you artwork you want to know for sure that the file is exactly as they intended it to look. I can open a PDF in publisher and it may look 'ok' but you have no idea that its different to what the client intended. If you send the file back to the client it will look fine for them as they have the fonts installed so they will say yes the proof looks great. You then send off the file to print and the next thing you have is a client refusing to pay because the artwork they sent is not correct.
    You can't convert to paths/TIFF if the font is not honoured. Its daft that you need Acrobat to do it which means you still have a subscription with Adobe and so you may as well stick with Adobe.

    Hi,
    Could you please make Resource Manager as a panel like the Layers, History etc...
    It's very useful to have a constant view over the links that get updated, so Resource Manager should always be visible on screen.
    Thank you!

    As much as i love AP, i can't work with it if i'm not able to place client provided ads in there.
    Also what i noticed, you can't set a stroke around linked documents...
    So, yeah keep looking forward to those pdf features!

    StainX reacted to SimonF in Importing PDF with missing fonts
    Being able to place a PDF with embedded fonts is a very important feature.
    Publishers need to be able to place PDF Ads supplied by third parties.
    These Ads will have the fonts embedded, and the advertiser will expect them to appear in print looking like the Ad they approved.
    THIS IS A BIG DEAL. Please sort it out Affinity. I love your software. But discovering this problem may mean I have to return to Adobe...
    UPDATE: This is how I am getting around this problem. I still have an old copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Going into the Flattener Preview settings gives you the option to 'Convert Text to Outlines'. This strips all embedded fonts from the PDF, text is now turned into 'curves' instead. This new PDF can then be placed into Affinity Pulisher because there are no fonts in it. Adobe Acrobat Pro is still the only Adobe product that I can't replace. Not ideal. But maybe this will help someone else.

    Hey, don't have this Problem, my Artboards get exported ascending (from lowest to highest) in the correct layer order.
    Also... you should take a look at Affinity Publisher... as this has actual pages and the proper tool for such a case, not Artboards. (Affinity Designer is like Adobe Illustrator, an Illustration software)
