StainX reacted to JonaIrais in Export to IDML
As mentioned before on this forum.
To be able to work together with colleagues and businesses who continue to work with Adobe Indesign, this feature is incredibly important.
I love Affinity but do need to be able to share my files with Adobe clients.

StainX reacted to Patrick Connor in [FAQ] Stock Panel no longer contains Unsplash
In the stock panel we list a selection of stock image providers for the convenience of our customers on the basis of it being a free service. Unfortunately in the case of Unsplash they have begun demanding license fees for their API which is the reason they have been removed.
The good news is this only affects Unsplash, the other options of Pixbay and Pexels continue to be available.
Of course should you wish to use Unsplash images you can download directly from their website using a browser and then import into your Affinity apps by drag & drop or File -> Place, as you would with any other stock library not listed in the panel.

StainX reacted to Michi in Save Data Directory
Hello
is it possible to set the program that if I save or export data, that the current path of the opened file is directly set to save the data in it?
I often open a file and I have to export it in pdf. So when I will export it, the path is always a completly different path ( I think from the last saving)
Thank you.

StainX reacted to Simon Haynes in Remember the import and export paths per document
I'm an Indesign user who recently switched to Affinity Publisher. Everything is going fine so far, but I miss the way Indesign remembers which folder I imported from last per document, as well as remembering the last-used export path per document.
If I go to export a book cover to png or jpg, it would be nice if the default path in the file dialog was the place I last exported that cover to, rather than the last place I exported anything to.
The same when importing. If I'm editing a client's book cover, it's not much good when the default path in the 'import file' dialog is the one I use for my iRacing paints - deep inside a folder on a different hard drive - just because I happened to import a logo from that folder into a completely different document five minutes earlier.
Great software though. This is the only thing driving me crazy at the moment.

StainX reacted to affwin in Export defaults to folder
AfPhoto for Windows V1.5.0.46
Hi, how can I export a picture (JPG) to the same folder as the source (as a fixed preset - default).
Thanks and Greetings Dieter

StainX reacted to JMP in Export folder
Hi.
I think Photo is not having the correct behaviour in the following escenario
- I drag&drop an image on Photo to start editing, that could be anywhere on my file system.
- I could make some edits, add a few layers,...
- When I go to File -> Save as to save a new version of the image on affinity photo format including layers,,,, the default folder is the one where the original image is, what I think is correct.
- Then if I go to File->export to save a .jpg verion of the image, the default folder is again the one where the original image is, what I think is also correct.
- But, if I after opening the image (drag&drop), and make the edits I go directly to File->Export (without a previous "Save as.."), the default folder is not the one where the image is, but the last folder used on the export function, that could be completly different. And I think this is not correct. Don´t should be always the default folder the one where the original image is?
Thanks

StainX reacted to drdancm in File Default Save As, Export Save As in Source Folder
Affinity is a Superb and Affordable program which I use all the time. I'm grateful that it exists and I recommend it to everyone.
Whenever I choose Save As or even more important File Export Save As, I end up in my Windows Default Save location (Drive and Folder), which I never want, so I end up wasting a lot of time browsing to the correct folder. Almost always this is the location from which the file was loaded. I looked but I was not able to find any way to set this in the Preferences.
It would be extremely useful to allow the user to be able to enable such a feature: Save As and Export Save As to use the Source Folder of the File.
Thanks,
Dan

StainX reacted to wonderings in Seperate Font Folder
The way Adobe handles it is great with packaged Indesign and Illustrator files. I use my font software a lot less now (Font Explorer Pro).

StainX got a reaction from Wosven in Seperate Font Folder
The thing is, i get a lot of idml files with two Folders one called "Links" for images and one called "Document fonts" for font files.
It's part of the adobe file package thingy. It would really help a lot not to install all these fonts that don't get used outside a certain File or Project.

StainX reacted to Smeikx in Seperate Font Folder
For type designers this feature is absolutely essential. The lack of a dedicated font directory is literally the only thing holding me back from jumping to Publisher.
Unfortunately, only on Windows (as far as I know). On macOS it is like @jeremybanka explained.
And while @Wladimus is a Windows user, there are other professionals like him working with macOS, having to handle thousands of font files; a separate font folder really would make things easier.

StainX reacted to CalvinCoolridge in Seperate Font Folder
Currently I've been Downloading Fonts And Other assets onto my mac so That I can have a wider arsenal of resources. I was just doing a design for one of my friends and realized I couldn't find the font I just downloaded, I Thought it'd be amazing if there was little folders of some sort within the app that'll differentiate the downloaded "user" fonts, and the fonts that The computer you are using comes with, for better organization.
even though i've never seen this feature on any other apps or software, is there a way you could implement this?

StainX reacted to elefont in Fonts folder that automatically synchronizes fonts.
It would help type designers a lot to have a folder that not only automatically activates the containing fonts, but also replaces the typefaces in the documents when replacing the font file in that specific folder.
Like Adobe has it.
The process of testing fonts in publisher is very frustrating at the moment. There seems to also be a strange font cache behavior that just doesn't update fonts unless restarting the software.

StainX got a reaction from Pauls in PDF Passthrough with Embedded Font Problem
Hi!
Found another PDF from a client that isn't working as it should.
Just importing and then exporting as PDF messes up fonts (doesn't matter if X4 or X1).
Rasterizeing the layer before export works, also exporting directly to jpg.
I sent you the PDF as PN @Pauls.

StainX reacted to Ray C in Objects to "No Print"
I don't see how to create a feature (object/layer) that is visible, but won't print.

StainX got a reaction from Pauls in PDF Passthrough with Embedded Font Problem
You are correct, PDF/X4 export solves the Problem, not sure why i choose X1 over X4 anyway, probably some RGB thingy... i keep an eye on it, anyway thanks a lot!

StainX reacted to Pauls in PDF Passthrough with Embedded Font Problem
I find exporting as PDF/X4 seems to be OK ( same as the source PDF)

StainX reacted to sandr in Modified / missing images in picture frames have wrong position when updated / replaced
this should be fixed, it also applies to pdf and jpeg files, thus making the document unworkable
-
StainX reacted to Joachim_L in Modified / missing images in picture frames have wrong position when updated / replaced
Title says it all. Scaling for TIFs is okay, but the position is still wrong when updated or replaced.
-
StainX reacted to sandr in Modified pdf files in picture frames still have wrong position when updated in resource manager
As the title implies, modified pdf files in picture frames still have a wrong position when updated in the resource manager. Jpeg files works fine since the update, pdf files dont..
Please make it work..

StainX reacted to Joachim_L in German translation: Please Blindtext instead of Fülltext
Never noticed this before, because I am mainly using the English UI. "Fülltext" is a 1:1 translation of "Filler Text". The correct word in German has to be "Blindtext".

StainX got a reaction from Jeff McFarland in Affinity Publisher for Windows - 1.9.1
So, the fix for the "replace image in picture frame" without messing up its position/scale will come next update, i hope?
-
StainX reacted to MickRose in Rescaling page can be wrong using drop down list
This problem has always been in Publisher and still is in 1.91. Create an A4 page in a new document. Use Document Setup to change the dpi to 72. Use Spread set up and choose A4 from the drop down menu. The page sizes changes to 875 x 1237.5. If I type in 210 x 297 the page size goes correctly to 210 x 297. It looks like if I select from the drop down list then the new page size uses the DPI setting as part of its calculation.

StainX got a reaction from Jon P in Position inside picture frame still wrong after updating links
Yeah, hoped it would make it into this update, anyway... meanwhile as a workaround i go with:
Move the image out of the picture frame Replace Image Move back into the picture frame
