TomHu reacted to v_kyr in Why is Help STILL not working in your apps?
Yes for ease of use they seemed to reused Google here. The only other more or less alternative in your case is, to look after an unofficial PDF representation of the help files in the forums resources section. Something like these then ...
Downloadable Affinity Designer Help 1.3.5 (iBook)(older one)
Affinity Photo pdf manual for your enjoyment ... and to search inside those then after certain topics. - Or fetch the whole via wget etc...
... or maybe even easier for you, navigate into your local Affinity App version and copy the HTML help files to a custom directory for local access.

Try selecting the object, then looking in the Color panel. It should tell you the fill color of the selected object:

TomHu got a reaction from Medical Officer Bones in How do I draw a simple 1-pixel line??
Yes, I got the length of time that CS6 has been out wrong, sue me. I've been using Photoshop for 25 years, since version 2.0 (yes, go ahead and look it up).
The point is that Photoshop has had the ability to draw pixel-perfect shapes on a pixel grid for many years, this isn't something new or radical.
Telling me I have to draw my lines then shift them all 1/2 a pixel to get clean, sharp lines in AP is absurd.
If I'm designing bitmap graphics using a bitmap program, when I draw a single-pixel line I expect to get a single-pixel line, not a two-pixel, partially transparent line. Is that really asking too much from a program designed to create bitmap graphics?

TomHu reacted to - S - in Why is Affinity Photo moving the guides after cropping?
If you go to View > Guides Manager, it will show you the exact location of the guides from the top and left of the canvas.
When you crop the canvas, the guides will stay at the same dimensions that you set them to.  Therefore, the horizontal guides will still be X amount of pixels from the top of the canvas and the vertical guides will still be X amount of pixels from the left of the canvas.  You can't see the other two guides (the bottom and right ones) after cropping because they end up outside of the canvas area.

I can also draw a vector line in Photoshop and get the exact same results...

Screen Recording 2018-10-11 at 1.01.24 PM.mov   See how easy that was? Photoshop has the "Align Edges" option that assures vectors with straight edges are perfectly aligned to the pixel. I thought AP's "Force pixel alignment" and "Move by whole pixels" settings would work the same way, but apparently they don't. In fact, I have no idea what these settings actually do in Affinity Photo. I think they only work with pixel tools like brushes, not vectors or shapes.

Also note that I am still using Photoshop CS6, which is now 18 years old. The ability to snap the edges of vector shapes to pixel borders isn't a new concept by any means.

TomHu reacted to toltec in Can I crop the canvas using the marquee tool?
    @TomHu
Clip to canvas wont work with a marquee box. It only works if you clip the objects inside a rectangle (or shape). Well, as far as this sort of thing goes.

    Original image

    Rectangle on top

Image nested inside the rectangle, so the rectangle clips the image.

    then Clip Canvas pressed

I'm talking about how/where the line is placed on the document.
See the attached. See how the pure black line is placed at 162.5. And the other semi transparent "double" (it's not, it's 1px) line, like you're getting, is centered on the whole number 165.
You can have Force pixel alignment on, you'll just have to type the final placement into the transform panel like I did.
Otherwise if you start off with pixel alignment and you're moving by whole pixels you'll never get to the .5 grid placement.
Once the line is at a .5 position, then move by whole pixels is your friend. Fun huh!?

You're right! A page on Dynamic Guides appears in the search results for "guides," but the dedicated Guides section is missing from the search results.
Also, there's no way to get back to the Home page of Help, or to do another search.
Also 2: I need a magnifying glass to read that table of contents, so tiny!
    Thanks!

    Hi TomHu,
Until this gets fixed you can use the online Help to keep learning/checking the help.

I press Esc then V to get back to the Move tool, easiest method I've found

Unfortunately there's no current option to default to a different zoom amount other than 'Fit' currently, it's a requested feature and we hope to add it into a later version!

Dear, i simply ditched Adobe product and created a new workflow because i didn't wanted to spend time over thinking this or that, let me put it before you:
1- Adobe illustrator CC 2018 > Affinity Designer : latest release on both MacOS & Windows
2- Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 > Affinity Photo  : latest released on both MacOS & Windows
3- Adobe Lightroom CC 2018 > Luminar 2018 : will move to Luminar 2019 as soon as available (it will offer photo library)
4- Adobe Premiere CC 2018 > HitFilm Express v9 : already on latest version which runs much faster and uses less RAM than previous version.
5- Adobe Media encoder > Wondershare Video converter Ultimate : here i think i will find another tool or simply use HitFilm Express as a Media Encoder
6- Adobe Acrobat DC > PDF Element Express 0.6.2 : it use less memory and load faster than normal version of the same software
7- Adobe Muse > Rapid Weaver 8 : Offers better library of themes and load faster, uses less memory but ... you won't really deal with code (only if you want)
8- Adobe XD > Sketchapp 51.3 : this only until Affinity Designer make it possible to do prototype and better web Design but also because inVision is browser based (Bandwidth is a threat in my country so won't move there unless i travel in the U.S, Japan or Germany )
Well ... you may not do the same but there are stuffs that work and could replace and help you feel in less constrain and better stand ... still you will need to change or upgrade your actual workflow.
    Blessings !

No, I can get good results using refine but I find the method outlined quicker and cleaner, I use a tablet and pen to select, its more intuitive and quicker than using a mouse.
