I don't know the types of data merging you do, nor whether you use a plugin or not. But if you are using ID's built-in, outdated data merge, have you considered using Word or Libre Writer's data merging? In some cases, the resulting word processing file can simply be copy/pasted or imported into APub, or a pdf generated to open/place in APub.
Which is what I would do if that was all that was keeping me from switching.

    Hi!
I make Racing Bibs for competitions and I'm trying to move away from some of the archaic software that is used in these processes on to newer software options. Adobe Illustrator seems to be one of the only alternatives but their array merge feature is probably one of the most complicated and ineffective things I have ever used.
For those who know what a mail merge is in MS Word where you can print 1 envelope, each with a different name and address on it for each and every envelope, this feature is necessary in a lot of B2C relations. There have been many instances where I would like to have a very creative beautiful document with spot colors, etc have a mail merge feature but I have yet to find a program that has this feature similar to the way the MS Word does.
I am fairly new to Affinity's suite of products and I am trying to do my best to look for this feature and find it on my own but I haven't seen it in Affinity Designer (where it would most likely be) and I am toying with Affinity Publisher (another product that may include features like this) but haven't seen it there either.
Is this a feature that is built in to Designer or being built into Publisher and I am just looking in the wrong places? Or is this function that should become a feature request?
Here's to hoping I can find something amazing or I can turn this into a feature request.
    -Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion @walt.farrell! I'll set a few presets up to use going forwards

If you create your own Preset that's one of the settings that the Preset will remember, @Abernethy.
Choose your base preset in the File > New dialog. Change the Image Placement Policy. Click the hamburger menu next to the Page Preset dropdown box. Choose Create Preset, and name your preset. The next time you create a document, change Type from Print to Presets. Publisher should fill in the last one you used, but if not you can choose it from the Preset dropdown.
It would be even nicer if Publisher would default to the last document type you used (Print, Presets, ...) which would eliminate the need to change to Presets. But this should give you all the settings you need.

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I've got a document with a number of artboards and want to export a handful of then to a PDF, but not all of them. I select them, hit export, and choose either selection with or without background. This works fine unless you also want a bleed included as the checkbox stays grayed out (see picture) and can't be selected.
This has only started with version 1.7.1.404, worked fine before this point.

    Hi Abernethy,

Thanks for letting us know, I've reproduced this here and will get it passed on to development.
