  1. (This got tagged to the wrong message). Re-naming the '1.0' folder was the solution to my problem, and (in my humble but hard-won experience) beats forcing Windows to update any day of the week..
  2. SUCCESS! Thanks so much for this suggestion Stinn. This was the solution for me. Of course I had to re-apply my product key, but this went without a hitch and now the product performs as expected - assets download and appear in the asset view - and WITHOUT crashing the product. Not sure what has happened here, but maybe the contents of this folder got corrupted somehow? Wireless
  3. Just watched your video on Account Syncing (I reported a problem with this some while ago and was advised it was not working correctly, so was keen to re-try this). I have been a user of the Windows Desktop versions of Photo, Designer and Publisher for some time. Account synced OK, downloading and installing the first asset appeared OK, but then Photo crashed (not responding). This is reproducible as below. Just updated all three Apps to v1.9.2 Opened Photo, went to My Account icon and signed in to my account - icon turned green (hurrah). On subsequent operations, the account icon remains green. Noted in the Account Panel that there were several assets, but not obvious from there if downloaded or not. Opened the Assets panel (View/Studio/Assets) and noted it was empty Clicked on the 'cloud' icon to download the first available asset (20 Fog Overlays by Paper Farms) This appeared to load and then install successfully. Nothing appeared in the Asset window (surprised...) Immediately noticed that the windows cursor had changed to the blue rotating circle After a while, I clicked away from the Account window and then was advised that Affinity Photo was not responding This was shown to be repeatable. Attempted to download another asset (Ink Stamp Textures by MiKsKS). Appeared to download and install without error. This time, the cursor remained as normal until I clicked to close the account window and Photo then crashed. Photo appears to run as normal if I do not try and download via my account OS = Windows 10 Pro, recent version (Version 1909, Build 18363.1082)
  4. summersara Ta for suggestion. Tried setting the gamma to full up but made little difference. Yes, changing the UI to 'LIGHT' mode is a partial answer, but honestly - can you see the Frankentoon icons in the attached?? My problem is that the assets are actually quite useful - see the two shapes in the attached - a simple graphic plus a Frankentoon mask and some 3D/Emboss, and you end up with something quite useful. I have an email response today from the Frankentoon products specialist who believes that the issue is with Affinity to fix as it has been raised with them already..........
  5. Just bought Designer v1.7, and then bought Frankentoon Propaganda Design Kit v1.5. The combination is challenging in the default UI 'DARK' setting. As can be seen in attached snapshot, both the ASSETS and the STYLES exhibit such low contrast as to be almost impossible to identify and select. Am I right that the only choice in Designer is to change to a UI 'LIGHT' setting? Personally I find this overpowering and tiring to use for any length of time. I find the Affinity default assets and styles easy enough to use, so would you take the view that this is an issue for the Frankentoon team rather than Affinity? PS Otherwise, I'm absolutely delighted in my recent purchase of the Affinity trio of Desktop Applications.
  6. Awesome. Awesome. Just watched live, then purchased Publisher to add to my existing Photo and Designer. Then upgraded to use StudioLink. It just works! Thank you so much Affinity Team. I am so going to enjoy working with and enjoying this.
  7. OK - My bad. It does work. Being new to the application, I mis-read the highlighting. As a default it looks like ADD is already selected. Thanks for your help!
  8. Yes it already is. I saw that in another answer. I still have the problem of nothing happens. This is a brand new paid-for installation of Affinity Photo on a Windows 10 fast Desktop PC
  9. Hi there. Just bought Affinity Photo. First challenge was to cut out a section of a photo, so I watched the tutorial at https://vimeo.com/channels/affinityphoto. Opened up Affinity Photo / opened a photo / selected the Selection Brush - and then NOTHING! I cannot replicate what I see in the tutorial. The selection brush appears to do nothing. I thought it might be that my photo opens up as a background with a padlock - but the tutorial is the same. I've tried pressing all the extra keys I can think of. I've tried exploring the forum. HELP PLEASE (It must be me?) Thanks - Bob
  10. Ha! Problem SOLVED. Discovered that the Exposure control in the Vignette window needs to be reduced from default 100% as otherwise the effect is identical with 'do nothing'.
  11. Can anyone help please? I came across Affinity Photo today for the first time - downloaded the trial and watched the first tutorial video on Vimeo. This gave a demonstration of the vignette effect which I decided to try as my first experience with this software. It did not work! I've tried it over and again, researched the net for the experience of others, but it's still not working. I believe I am copying the tutorial exactly, but the vignette effect does not show. I downloaded the current Affinity Photo (v1.6.5.123), and am running on a reasonably powerful Windows 10 (latest version) desktop. I've created a short video......
